Macedo De Sodre: Brazilian Search

#Post
1

Hi

I am after a marriage certificate for Perla Macedo De Sodre. From what I have found out I could do this by searching the Cartórios in São Paulo. But it seems I need to be a Brazilian citizen to use their web-page. As when I go to register the page wants a social security type number - which I do not have.

Does any one have any tips on how to do my search?
I do have the option of engaging an investigator in Brazil to do the search for me; though I am hoping for a cheaper option.

Appreciate any help you can give.

FamilySearch.com has some Brazil records, but what era is of interest to you? FamilySearch requires you to sign in - no cost and put in the least information you are comfortable with.

They have a couple of collections that might interest you:
Brazil Marriages, 1730-1955, but it's only 470,227 records.
Brazil, São Paulo, Civil Registration, 1925-1995 2,056,439 records

But I haven't found an item for the name you give, but what are the traditions of what is a given name and what is a family name?

Thanks for the replies.

I think the family name is Macedo.

Father is Rubens (first name)
Family name/surname: Macedo Evangelistae

Perla's DOB is 16 May 1975.

I suspect she was married. in Brazil, within the last 5 years.

As she's likely living, you might have trouble getting a marriage certificate without going through all the ID hoops similar to the ones you'd have to go through here to get one.
