Yes, watching. Hopefully the judges' last season will be enough of a spoiler for those that like to ruin things for others;) how are you doing?

Didn't watch it this year. Too boring and not aimed at general population. Who would want to run around like headless chooks trying to cook something so complicated and time consuming. Don't have enough time for that.

Watching it and amazed at how they are starting off with such complicated dishes too.

I'm sad that that it will be the last time that George, Gary and Matt will be on it though.

MasterChef judge George Calombaris' underpayment scandal blows out to $8.15 million

12:07, Jul 18 2019

Celebrity chef George Calombaris has been slapped with a substantial fine after admitting to underpaying AU$7.83 million (NZ$8.15 million) in wages to 515 current and former employees of his hospitality empire as part of an unprecedented deal with the Fair Work Ombudsman.

-three-masterchef-australia-judges-quit-over-pay-dispute

Australia's Network 10 has pulled the plug on MasterChef Australia judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris.

The trio - each on salaries in excess of $1 million - walked after 10 refused to up their pay by more than 40 per cent, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald understand.

The cooking reality show - once the highest-rating program in Australia - will return in 2020, with a panel of new judges yet to be announced.

A network spokeswoman said the judges' departure is unrelated to recent coverage of widespread wage underpayment by Calombaris' company, Made Establishment.

There was an article I read which reported that due to the success of the series overseas, Gary, George and Matt wanted a share of the profits and the Ten network would not agree to it so they let them walk.

I've read several different reports (same as stated in post #11) that it was because all three wanted a 40% rise and 10 refused so they walked. Obviously $1m+ wasn't enough for them. Don't watch it anymore.

There also the fact that 10 network wanted to lock them in for quite a few years (I think another 10 years) and the trio did not want a long contract. Channel 10 did not come to the party. Also with George underpaying his staff (just like Shannon Bennett) I think it all got too much. I don't Shannon returned this season either but not sure as did not watch it.

I sat through the first few episodes; that was enough. The predictable appalling music, sob stories and let's-all-be-best-buds seems even worse this time, compared to the classy, stripped back, it's-only-about-the-cookin-
g UK Masterchef & UK Celebrity Masterchef I've been watching lately.

Maybe next year, with the new, named judges (I won't do a spoiler), will come a new and improved format??

I can't be bothered with it this time round...maybe new judges will be good for the show,

I agree, and the contrast with the various UK series is even more marked than before. I can't stand all the shrieking and capering about. I record Australian MC, then I can skim through all the non-cooking padding and just watch the food prep and the judging. It pretty well halves the time it takes.

I can't t record, unfortunately. UK Masterchef is in a different league altogether, isn't it. One of the things I most like about it, is that they're cooking within a minute or two.of arriving in the kitchen.
