Gribben research Ireland

#Post
1

I am researching a large family from Northern Ireland and have been focusing on one sibling at a time. Latest project is finding the descendants of Thomas Gaston Gribben, he was born 1881 and died 1909, married Ann Jane Graham in 1902. They had two children John Gribben b1903 and Ann Jane Gribben b1906. I have found Ann Jane Gribben immigrated to NZ and have traced her marriage and children.

However, I am stuck on John Gribben b1903 in Broughshane. There is a tree on Ancestry and MyHeritage saying that on 20 Jul 1929 he married an Agnes Erwin b1904.

Can anyone confirm this marriage for me? I have not been able to find it. Thanks

Are you wanting to confirm that's the date they married, or that John married Agnes Erwin?

FMP newspapers have a death notice for a John Gribben who lived at 12 Braidvalley View in Broughshane, and died in the Ballymena Hospital on 19 May 1981. Is recorded as the "beloved husband of the late Agnes Gribben".

And in late Feb 1950 their only son Thomas Gribben married a Miss Maisie Lee. The groom's sister, Nan Gribben, was a bridesmaid.

Hi thanks for that. Basically I am trying to verify any information I have for the family. As noted the info is from a tree on MyHeritage and I have not been able to find the marriage. My adoptee has DNA matches to two of the 15 Gribben siblings, so it appears that she descends from the family. At this stage I am looking at spouses and in-laws of the siblings to see if I can pick up any small DNA matches. Because of Irish naming habits there are multiple John Gribben, so will have a good look to see if I can how positive I can be that I have the right one! Thanks

Hi skipper. Yes had found that. thank you very much.
Satisfied that I have the info I need for the moment. Now just going through the Erwin ancestry to see if I can pickup any DNA matches in there. Cheers

Going to ask this Gribben question on another website as well - Facebook Genealogy New Zealand and Beyond - hopefully then answers will not be deleted.
