Catering for a small function

#Post
1

I would like to hold a buffet dinner function with up to 17 guests. I would like it to be in my home which means my guests would have to eat while sitting on chairs. The lounge is a reasonable size and 17 stack-able chairs would fit. The dining room could be used as the bar and for the buffet meal.I would ask someone to cater. The kitchen has a conventional stove, with oven, a fan oven and a microwave. There is a fridge freeze and a chest freezer.
I would welcome any menu suggestions from those of you you are interested in cooking and entertaining. Obviously some foods are not suitable for "on the knees" catering.

I think the easist thing to do - and popular with nearly everyone - is this ...
Cook 3 types of meat - have 3 types of buns/wraps/naan bread - 3 types of salads and lots of sauces
3 types of potatoes (chips/baked/fritters etc)
Then the guest can select what they like to eat
Same for desert ... icecreams, toppings, sauces, nuts etc
so easy .... and yummy too.

Something easy would be a ham, and salads, great bread rolls, and gourmet mustards.

i have done roast ham and rolls regularly for large groups go easy and simple if people are eating on their knees with items that clump together and no messy sauces also find gourmet sausages go down really well to esp if its a lot of guys
