Depends what pot, I used my element on low setting to heat wine and melt cheese, than transferred dish to a candle teapot rechaud.

the burners areonly to keep the pot warm while eating, all the cooking is done on the stove and transferred hot to the table stand, if you have to go give the pot a heat up on the stove half way through
