| 1 | Hi there I am wondering if someone is able to assist me or point me in the right direction. I have spent hours trying to confirm details of my Great Grandmother and her family - Parents & Grandparents. Her name is Janet Morrison WILSON b 1869 in Scotland. She married Colin CARMICHAEL in 1899. On the marriage certificate her Parents are listed as William WILSON and Agness WILSON (deceased). There were married in Glasgow, Scotland. I have a copy of this although very hard to read. I have not been able to find a death record for Agness or any census records for her in 1871 or later census records. I am beginning to think she passed away not long after Janet was born. I cannot find William in Census records for 1871, 1881 or 1891 either however he is in the 1901 Scottish Census listed as living with Janet, Colin and children in Glasgow. William is listed as being aged 65 and born in Sanquhar, Scotland. Janet, Colin and their children immigrated to Gisborne, NZ in the early 1900's. Janet passed away in Gisborne in 1950. I believe I have found Janet in the Scottish Census Records for 1871, 1881 & 1891- living with a Margaret Harris. Two of the census' have her listed as Margaret's neice. The 1871 Census Janet is aged 2. Margaret's ages and year of births seem to be all over the place though. I have tried to search for her for a linkage to William or Agness (presuming she may have been a sister to either) however based on her ages she could have been born anywhere between 1820-1849. I have not been able to track down any death cert for William. Sorry I have rambled on a little - hope this makes sense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
