Plastic one like this: https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1090618310.jpg
If you have one, how hot do the sides get on yours?
I've just dug mine out from under the bench - haven't used it for years and can't remember how hot it used to get on the outside.
I can't hold my hand anywhere for more than a few seconds, seems overly hot but it may be normal.

Had the same for 35yrs still going strong, use it all the time, the sides get warm but not hot, that's what the handles are for.

I have the beige and brown one, the same style, and I bought it off my SIL's mother over 35 years ago. Its still going strong, a few marks but still great. The outer gets warm, not hot, the inner is Temuka pottery and if you have the glass lid (mine had a plastic one and when it broke hubby got me a glass one). Its had 2 new lids, a new thermostat, a new plug and its still works perfectly. To me, the older, heavier inner's in the crockpots are best. Very little is overdone and you get that nice slow cook. I even picked up an older one at a garage sale for $5 and gave it to my daughter when she went flatting. Its an obsolete model, the first one they brought. The glass lid broke (earthqukes) I walked into an op shop to search for one, and bingo, found one. Unbelieveable. I still have the original cookbooks for it too.
