| Hi there, can anyone tell me when Elizabeth Paul (nee King) died? She's my great great grandmother, born in Sydney, Australia and although she is likely to have died in Wanganui, I am confident she is not the Elizabeth Paul buried in Wanganui in 1913, thanks to findagrave. Her husband was William Campbell Paul and they had five children, the oldest of which was Elecia, my great grandmother. Any assistance greatly appreciated. cslaw - 2019-07-06 22:32:00 |

| Thanks so much for that stock. As usual with my bunch it almost raises more questions than answers. Elizabeth is recorded as being 26 on the birth cert of her eldest child, Elecia, born in 1877 suggesting Elizabeth's DoB being around 1851 ish which is why I was having difficulty finding her. William is recorded as being 36 at that time making him born 1841 or so yet his headstone suggests 1838. I'm aware that people were not often aware of this info themselves back in the day. 6 | Drat. Just went to update the family tree and remembered why I had discounted this woman. According to the printout info for William Campbell Paul when he died in 1918 he was already a widower. Thoughts? cslaw - 2019-07-07 12:01:00 |
| Parents Elizabeth & William Campbell are quite numerous, but NZBDM registrations with the forenames you provide in registration order: 1877/1378 Paul Elecia Bruce; Elizabeth; William stock - 2019-07-07 14:55:00 |
| Children school records, parent / guardian (New Plymouth), 1880s 1890s that might match this family: Eliji (sic) Bruce 1884 William Paul Can't identify William & Charlotte. That little exercise was just to identify Elizabeth. She was on the scene in 1892 when Ada began school. stock - 2019-07-07 15:04:00 |
| Don't see a good match Elizabeth & William Paul Taranaki 1893 & 1896 electoral rolls. stock - 2019-07-07 15:11:00 |
| Thank you, the Taranaki school reference seems very likely and ought to narrow the search from 1892 to 1918. I think the William you mention born in 1878 may belong to an Elizabeth and William Paul from Otago and I am reasonably confident that William King Paul born in 1883 died in 1971 belongs to my Elizabeth and William. Based on Elizabeth's maiden name being King and a reference to age and gender of issue still alive on William's death printout. And not much more. I did wonder if for some reason Elizabeth's death was recorded under the name King, only because they don't appear to have actually married as far as I can tell. And I cannot find her as Elizabeth Paul. So frustrating.... I don't know where else to look. cslaw - 2019-07-07 17:35:00 |
| I'm wondering about the Elizabeth Paul on the Patea electoral roll in 1896 and also in Wanganui 1911 and 1914. A likely fit for the family's movements. Not the Elizabeth with the second name of Ellen or Jane though. And now I'm wondering about the empty part of William's headstone even though he's supposedly predeceased her. And wondering if she left him, potentially remarried. cslaw - 2019-07-07 18:29:00 |
