Hi
She was Harriet EADE bap 27 Dec 1835 Kennington, London England
married Francis POTOKY 4 Dec 1859 Lambeth London England
He was a soldier and they lived in Mauritius for a few years
1863 MADRAS to Victoria AUS
1865 MATAOKA to Auckland from London

Had 6 chn in NZ and 2 prior to arrival here.

I can't find a death for her in NZ under POTOKY bu tin a cousins notes said she remarried a Markwick SIVYER 20 July 1892 but I can't find that marriage. He died in 1916.

A Francis POTOKY died in West Aus in 1893
They had a daughter who moved to Sydney that is why I was wondering if she went to live over there and possibly died there.

It is very puzzling. :)

Thank you so much I would never have gone to those spellings that has helped a lot. I knew Markwick took his own life in 1916 so now to find her death.

Frank Potoky who died in western aus is the right age for my Francis Potoky. he did not die in NZ I think.

Thank you for your additional help. So I can presume she possibly died prior to 1916 when Markwick died with no mention of a wife. ..or before 1924 when Emmerick died...I just need to work out what name she was under and how it was spelt or misspelt or did she go to Sydney where her daughter was??? so may questions......

Do you have this?
Victorian Express (Geraldton, WA :
1878 - 1894) Fri 7 Apr 1893 Page 3
CLIPPINGS FROM THE MURCHISON MINER.
We regret to record the death at the Magnet of Frank Potoky aged 6O, a miner, employed by Messrs. Attwood and Ford. At 4 p.m. last March, Potoky had fired a charge in a drive in the water shaft and called out to be hauled up. Evidently something was wrong, as Potoky on leaving the plat only held on to the rope with his hands. When hauled about 20ft. he let
go," and the charge exploding immediately it is presumed that the deceased received the full force of the shot, as he fell by the mouth of the drive.
A. McDonald immediately was lowered and found Potoky lying in the water at the bottom of the shaft. On being spoken to he said "I am allright." McDonald bent the rope round the injured man and Potoky was hauled
to the surface, when it was found that his injuries required immediate surgical attention. P. C. Thomson left Magnet early on Thursday morning for Dr. Monteith. By hard riding he reached Milly Hospital, (a distance of 66 miles) at 4 p.m. Dr. Monteith left Milly with all despatch, camped at Cue and arrived in Magnet at 7 p.m. on Friday. Potoky was already buried, having died at 2 p.m. on the 16th, 29 hours after the accident. The poor fellow had only arrived at the Magnet on the 11th March.

Oh my gosh thank you.:) I did not have the newspaper article. I do think that is Francis. Also that could be Harriet - she was christened in 1835 but I know ages and dates on death entries are notoriously unreliable. I can't believe how many misspellings of the names there has been.

Thanks so much for your help. Waiwera is hopeful as Markwick did live in and around the Auckland and greater Auckland area. I will try electoral rolls for him.
