1 | Hi I would like to get a physical copy of my Grandfather's WW1 service. Is there anyway I could do this? mnkool - 2019-06-01 18:07:00 |
2 | Yes,I did, when I asked for my G F’s medals from both wars, get in touch with war records in Trentham, did it 20 yrs ago,it was very easy, they included his WW1 records as well all original, including his own hand writing, good luck with that.We were very close so when I completed the task,I had all his medals mounted & they sit under a picture of him as a 17 yr old in his uniform,I mounted the miniatures in the frame happychappy50 - 2019-06-01 18:21:00 |
3 | Now they are digital on Archway you can download and print it yourself carbs51 - 2019-06-01 18:44:00 |
4 | But that seems the problem, some of the pages have a covering piece of paper on individual pages and so ruins the pages. mnkool - 2019-06-01 19:09:00 |

You usually find that the next page will show what was under the covering paper. In some instances it may be classified information which is not available for the public. nandag - 2019-06-01 19:20:00 |

It is usually okay after the "new file" page. carbs51 - 2019-06-01 21:56:00 |
10 | Sadly not this file... I am trying to work out how he was wounded and the front page is either in the way or the pen has faded so badly on the pages you make heads or tails of some of the pages. Tried looking up papers past using date of being wounded … very sobering, too many people lost young men. mnkool - 2019-06-01 22:33:00 |
11 | We used this site to request DH's GF's WWI service records in 2012 and my father's WWII service records in 2013 - free of charge. The photocopied pages were not obstructed by any other piece of paper as you see when viewing the pages via archways.nz. From memory we waited approx. 3 weeks for each package to arrive.
