No the marriage is too recent

Births that occurred at least 100 years ago
Stillbirths that occurred at least 50 years ago
Marriages that occurred 80 years ago
Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago or the deceased's date of birth was at least 80 years ago.

applies to "Historical" records. That is more than 80 years ago.

Go to your main Christchurch city library that has the family history section and look up the microfiche indexes. But that will only give you an index result, which might be near enough to answer a death registration question.

I'm surprised the undertaker doesn't have ways and means and have a contact set up with BDM to order through their 0800 number.

I have a subscription with Ancestry.com.Have been building family tree that way & managed to get a lot of info.

you need to look at the marriage microfiche at Library or Genealogy Group

Is your friend able to go through her parents collection documents or papers at their own home and see if they have their marriage Certificate among it

Just give undertaker that information, marriage approx 1961 ?? Otago, and request BDM to look it up. When deaths are registered BDM will look up the birth registration (if NZ) - they have done this on recent deaths in my family and filled in the correct details. They may also look up the marriage if they do not have the info. Alternatively on Monday ring BDM and ask them verbally for the info, they may be able to help. I have found they are very nice to talk to over the phone.
If you do not get the details correct, in the future when someone looks up the death certs the info will not be "precise" only general. The informants can only provide the info they have. NB the genealogist marriage CD only goes to 1956, not sure what is on the fiches at the library. Good luck

Hi, just looked up Mum's death cert issued less than one year ago.
Under relationships section they have the following:

Relationship status at time of death:
Relationship type:
Age of deceased at event: (so that is age when married)
Place of marriage/civil union:
Spouse/Partner - First/given names:
Surname/family name:
Sex:
Age (if living):

Hope that helps somewhat.

I have everything except the date they married. My friend is very ill in hospital and her dad died yesterday. I am just doing some footslog for her. Nailed most of it. I will put it back to the Undertakers.
