Ancestry.com question

#Post
1

My uncle spent years doing our family trees. Now I have continued from where he left off adding the new generations for my kids. I put everything I knew into Ancestry.com with stories etc. It took about 6 months to complete. Now I cant find how I can print. Does anyone know what I can do to get a paper copy or the information I have added out again? thank you

you can download it to become a GEDCOM and upload to a Genealogy Program such as Legacy which will let you make charts from the information you have

GEDCOM will not transfer photos. You can also buy Family Tree Maker that syncronizes with Ancestry. They have loads of printable charts and trees.

Rootsmagic has a free program for your pc that you can download your tree (including media) into.

I would just like to say THANK YOU for continuing your Uncle's work. I worry what will happen to all my research when I join the fluffy cloud brigade or my health doesn't allow me to continue with my work. I know others feel the same way.

thank you everyone for your answers. I will look into these programs. And Kiwiwendy... my parents are thankful too. I really enjoy it and have been doing it with my older boy so hopefully one day he will continue the work I am now doing. It seems such a sham to stop where so much hard work has been done.
I have downloaded the GEDCOM file now and will go through and make sure I have copies of all the photos and make notes of who they all belong too.
My tree has 897 people in it so it would be a shame to loose this. I just wished I had looked into Ancestry before I spent so long inputting all the information. I had also thought family could have shared. My mum and dad would love a physical copy of the information so really want to print out in some format they can keep.

Any family tree software would enable you to use a Publishing centre of their software, I can do this with Legacy plus make charts.

I have made folders for both my daughter and her Uncle (who asked me to do his family history)

here's a couple of photo's of what I did to give you an idea, charts are via Legacy charting ....
