matches a killer in a cold case. Wasn't there something written recently that DNA ancestry type samples couldnt be used for this?

There have been several cold cases in the USA solved by this method - most notably the Golden State Killer. I absolutely think that DNA ancestry databases should be able to be used for this purpose. I’m sure some idiots will argue that the killer’s civil rights or whatever are being violated, but what about the rights of their victims and their families? They are far more important in my opinion.
