Hi all, I have been hunting down on a My Heritage site details of my great grandfather who I am pretty sure is Henry McLaughlan, who got married to a Phoebe Annie (nee Woods) in 1913. But have hit a brick wall.
Their surname may also be spelled as McLaughlin, but I have had no luck with this name either.
I am looking for a birth date & the names of Henry's parents also (note that my own grandparents & great aunts referred to this Henry chap as Harry, but this may have been just his nickname - all BDM records so far are the Henry).
I am intrigued as my grandfather (Thomas John McL, born 1987) appears to be an only child as I can find no reference to any other children born to Phoebe & Henry.

looking on bmd I notice that the mother for Thomas and John is Mary Catherine and Henry and it looks to me that Rosaline could be a sister to Thomas and John

Phoebe has a probate that is digitised on Family Search, you need to register (it is free) and signed in to view it ....

Family Search is more amenable to variations of spelling. You should not accept the the parents 'names would be entered identically for every birth. Thus, the post by crab2 should be considered. You might find confirmation by checking electoral rolls for the family's address.

I need to sit down & work through some of this.
I did have the Catherine Roberts but a first cousin of mine noted that Henry's wife was the Phoebe - so I had amended my tree to only include Phoebe, thinking my original searches were heading off in the wrong direction. But no - it was another wife. Duh!

thank you Crab, yes I had my numbers mixed up - my GF was born in 1897, oops :)
& yes, h28skipper - Thomas John & Ellen Janet are my own grandparents.

My own dad has passed away now so I cannot check these names to his memories & stories sadly, but when I ran this past my Mum she said that she cannot recall (my) Dad ever talking about paternal uncles or aunts.
A good reminder for those of us with still living older rellies to ask the questions now.
