Birthday Food

#Post
1

I have to deliver platters for a birthday party. 50/60's age group. They just want a drop off as opposed to me staying and serving so I feel I have to make cold platters or food they can simply re-heat. I have a nice kumara and bacon slice and gourmet sausage rolls - any other suggestions of chilled food?

Presumably the platters are of finger food? If so.....sushi of some type - particularly if there will be GF guests. Wraps, Mini muffins split from the top and something tasty added, Pinwheel and/or Club sandwiches. Just a few ideas that spring to mind - hope they help. :-))

They’re in their 50s and 60s not their dotage!

A variety of cheeses, salmon and cold meats, pates, dips, hummus, crackers, pretzels, relishes, olives, bread, quince paste, maybe a few savouries or sausage rolls, samosas, fish bites, mussels

The kumara slice is really good. I line a baking dish with baking paper and spread base with cooked, cubed kumara. i just boil the kumara, only takes a few minutes, keep it firmish. Sprinkle the kumara with chopped parsley and grated tasty cheese (1 cup) and as much bacon as you want. I always use the "short-cut" bacon for this as you don't need to cook it and it is not at all greasy.Whisk together 6 eggs and half cup of milk (I use cream if I have it). Season well with salt and pepper and that's it. Bake 200 about 30-35mins until looks set. Easy as. I cut into small squares and put a little tomato relish and sour cream on top.

Sounds interesting but not necessarily something I would expect on a platter - I’d be thinking more antipasto, less substantial
