| Is there some way to see the details of their marriage 24 December 1826?Or do I need to order a certificate? I a trying to find out their parents names. They married inSt John Parish, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England Edited by corogirl at 7:33 pm, Sun 3 Mar corogirl - 2019-03-03 19:32:00 |

| there is the marriage of which you can purchase credits on Durham records online https://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/SearchResults.php crab2 - 2019-03-04 09:32:00 |
| Thank you both. Yes I already have that info. There are just so many John Knox's I was hoping there was a way I could see his full marriage cert in the hope his parents would be named. I did re search your link ty nbrob. I think I may have to give up on this one after 20 years of searching. I have heaps of DNA matches to a lot of Knox's in the USA who all lead back to a William Knox b 1815 to Peter and Dorothy Knox but I can't find anything to link to this family via my paper trail. Also have links to other William Knox's born around that time and no paper trail.. My own G Grandfathers ( William) birth to John and Mary is a mystery. I can't even find him in census records. I am sitting here with a paper print out of Williams marriage to Agnes McCord and even that isn't on family search, nor my grandfathers birth ( George William) and I have a copy of that. I am finding family search most unhelpful especially when I actually have the certificates and they are not on FS. corogirl - 2019-03-04 11:27:00 |
| The certificates I do have were purchased by my Aunt way back in the 60's or 70's so they should be on line by now. corogirl - 2019-03-04 11:29:00 |

| you have to register to use it (it is free) and you can search for births and deaths, they don't have marriages, you can then order birth or death and have it delivered via PDF to your email crab2 - 2019-03-04 13:11:00 |

| There is an Ancestry tree that has John Knox's parents as: William Knox 1776 -1837 Mary Morland's parents Hope that helps - you will have to verify if those are the correct people. daisy86 - 2019-03-04 13:14:00 |
| wonder where they got the parents names from crab2 - 2019-03-04 13:17:00 |
| That will be one of mine. I have been trying all sorts of different possible parents for John Knox and just going around in circles. Discard anything you see on Ancestry as I have tried them all. lol corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:21:00 |
| Oh yes George William Knox Born 28 Dec 1876, but I have everything I need on him. I just can't understand why these are not on Family search corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:22:00 |

| I was on My Heritage yesterday in the hope I may find some new Info on John and discovered about 3 or 4 trees have added several siblings to y Grandfather. He only had two brothers John and samuel. I have to wonder where these people get their info from. It's no wonder trees get messed up. I messaged all the owners and told them but doubt they will correct their mistake. Something for future searchers to mull over. corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:27:00 |
| Yes I saw that and thought I had removed that possibility from my tree. Maybe it's someone else corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:28:00 |

I have no idea, probably England. Both deceased in 1872 when William married. Johns occupation on the marriage cert says Miller. So I have looked for a John Knox in census as a miller. Yes that was my thought. Funny I cannot find him in the 1841 census which was done in June 1841. I think I found Mary and John with other kids though and a boy George aged 1 year. I did find a William aged 0 with a Hannah Knox?? There are at least two families in that area at that time with John and Mary, The other family is in Alnwick and I am sure that's not my lot. corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:44:00 |
| Oh of course I can't lol he was born in December Duh! corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:45:00 |

| So until I can find Johns Parents I doubt I will ever find the connection to most of my Knox DNA matches. As you can see by the above post it's doing my head in. The amount of John Knox's born from 1790's through to 1810 in that area is mind boggling and they are probably al related as well. corogirl - 2019-03-04 13:56:00 |
| Yes I can see that crab2 - 2019-03-04 13:57:00 |
| is that census record Your William crab2 - 2019-03-04 13:59:00 |
| I think I have seen that. Birth dates on census are rarely correct. His brother george according to the 1841 census is a year old. Perhaps William looked like a 7 year old when he was 9 and a half? corogirl - 2019-03-04 14:00:00 |
| So John may have died between 1841 and 1851? Edited by corogirl at 2:02 pm, Mon 4 Mar corogirl - 2019-03-04 14:01:00 |

| Brilliant! Yes that's them I am sure. On the Census I have from Ancestry it doesn't show his occupation. Thank you so much you have just verified what I have already but now I am sure rather than still wondering if it's the right family. At the moment I have attached Alexander Knox and Frances Guthrie as Johns parents but only because he named his second daughter Frances. Ist daughter is jane and I have just found a Thomas Knox and a jane wood who had a son John 26 Dec 1797 and first daughter is named Jane?? After his mother or his wives mother Jane Wilkinson **sigh** corogirl - 2019-03-04 14:19:00 |
