Lids on pickles

I read somewhere yesterday and didnt write it down.
To stop pickles,shrinking. cut a round of greaseproof paper and dip in vinegar. supposed to stop shrinking and mould...
THEN put the celo and metal lid
HAS anyone tried this.

yes, but at present, I have no wax, and cant get to shops

cut a circle of plastic [I use a zip lock bag] to fit and place it directly on top of the pickles [don't overlap edge of jar] then seal with lid as usual . My mother taught me to do this many years ago and I have found it works well.

My mother used to use lunch paper dipped in vinegar on top of jam, before the cellophane or lid. It was meant to stop mould but if mould did grow it grew on the paper so was really easy to remove .
