| Has anyone used their own kitchen to cook food for sale? Was it a great big hassle going through the council etc. I'm planning on making sweets only. TIA missunderstood - 2019-02-19 17:03:00 |
| if youre going to use your own home to preppare food for sale doesnt it need to be in a certified food prep space. I think there are council people who follow through with items advertised for sale to ensure theyre made in licencsed premises. I have heard of them cancelling food stalls with some donated products. They may only be sweets you intend on making, but if I was intending to buy them I would still like to think they are made in the proper conditions. buzz123 - 2019-02-19 17:27:00 |
| Thanks buzz, but have you read about some of the disgusting storage and vermin filled restaurants etc. I'd rather eat at my own house. missunderstood - 2019-02-19 18:06:00 |
| Food for school fairs etc are exempt but yes very expensive process to get kitchen certified. Details are on your council's website http://iportal.huttcity.govt.nz/Record/ReadOnly?Uri=4216330 Edited by angelah1 at 6:23 pm, Tue 19 Feb angelah1 - 2019-02-19 18:22:00 |
| Much cheaper than certification of your own home kitchen is to negotiate with a food outlet/restaurant place with a commercial food prep licence for time using a commercial kitchen outside their hours. Any good one may put some seemingly strict conditions on the use, and one had better keep to them as the penalties can be high for sloppy kitchen work. It is possible though, and - as I said - is a cheaper option. I know people who have developed a line of chutneys, jams, etc, another who bakes and decorates her cakes in one. You're only limited by your own imagination - even some halls, used only occasionally, may have a commercial licence for their kitchen. autumnwinds - 2019-02-19 22:29:00 |

All premises are subject to inspection and can be closed if they fail. Would you advertise your products as made in an non-certified kitchen? amasser - 2019-02-20 10:52:00 |
