| She is buried at Clareville Cemetery, who was she anyone know off her please, in unmarked grave but next to Hughan, I doubt it connected but one never knows unless they ask! Often the plots were sold several times in the olden days, like we are looking at 1882 on this one! I am back to doing the research off the cemetery, been working on other projects the last few years! I did have a Hughan contact me this am, early... said who is she, said leave it with me, will dig deep! She was in her 40s in 1882..when she died... thanks.. neich - 2019-02-10 08:23:00 |

| The Hughan and Wheatley surnames immediately caught my eye as my husband has a Hughan 3rd great grandmother (d. Dunedin 1894) and a Wheatley 2nd great grandfather (d. Temuka 1906). But hubby's connection to Hughan is through his mother, and to Wheatley through his father. I don't think they're any relation to your Eliza Wheatley in Clareville as these other Wheatleys and Hughans all lived in the lower half of the South Island. There's this mention of a Wheatley in Carterton, in Oct 1882? https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/WAIST18821010.2 ed65 - 2019-02-10 11:11:00 |
| 1880-1881 NZ electoral rolls for Wairarapa North have a Henry Wheatley living at Brancepeth, occupation labourer. And a Joseph Wheatley living in Masterton, occupation cook. ed65 - 2019-02-10 11:19:00 |
| No marriage of a Wheatley to an Eliza so you could assume that she wasn't married here and search overseas. amasser - 2019-02-10 13:46:00 |
| Immigration possibility Age 48, from Kent, is on the passenger list in "families and children" category with Henry Wheatley age 46. Not a good age match but something for neich to explore. stock - 2019-02-10 14:26:00 |

| that's interesting about Harry Wheatley thanks.. wonder where buried!!! will check Masterton.. so many early settlers came from Kent so may put a message on Kent Rootsweb site... just love finding out about the buried here at Clareville! had a rest from it, now back in earnest, as so many spelling errors, one I found today, Emma Martha Barley Callunder should have been Emma Martha Basley Callender, related to the Mc Kenzie family of Carterton.. so down to Council tomorrow and ask them to change it on line, felt embarrassed when I traced some descendants.. part of which said about Wheatley!!! thanks. neich - 2019-02-10 19:27:00 |
