Waffle maker

#Post

Can anyone recommend a good waffle maker. I’d prefer one that does deep waffles and is easy to clean.
I bought waffles the other day and they are so thin and not nice.
I fell in love with them when I was in the USA recently

Get one from Amazon US - then you have the right type.

I got given a cusinart Belgium waffle make for Christmas. It makes the best waffles. I made my regular waffle mix in it and the texture comes out completely different from my breville heart shaped machine. I love it. Even made a batch of Belgium waffle and they came out really good.

But won’t the plug be different to ours in NZ

US voltage is different to NZ so you would need to be dual voltage for it to work here.
I've have had a Sunbeam waffle maker for many years and it's very good. Still as good as new and doesn't stick, just needs a quick spray. It makes thick waffles, easy clean, just needs a wipe with a damp cloth.

Homemaker model FS1828 is great, I think it came from Kmart.

I got mine Breville with fly buys through Noel Lemmings a few years ago, wouldn't be without it. All I do is as above, brush with oil or melted butter is non stick and just wipe out when finished.

Tefal have an amazing one, also converts to toasted sandwich maker, the plates are removable, easy to clean, I brought mine in Australia, I think you can buy in NZ, Google it.

I brought a waffle maker a few years ago its a sunbeam and its what cafes use it makes deep crispy waffles was $190.00 well worth it.Then I brought another which was a cuisant brand its ok but is not as deep as the sunbeam.I definitely recommend the sunbeam it rotates so it gives even cooking.cheers

Not only the plug but the voltage. The U.S. uses 110v whilst N.Z. uses 220v.
To use an American appliance in N.Z. you need a step down transformer.
If the item is say 200w you do not buy a 200w transformer - you in fact need much higher than this - more expensive.

It is illegal to sell 110v items in NZ now including on Trade Me.

I see one listed on trade me Listing number 1962079931. It’s a cusinart one. I have a breville one now and would love one that makes crispy fat American style ones.

eek its in my head so here goes.
recipe 1: in a large bowl put 1 cup hot water and 1 cup cold milk add 2tsps sugar and 1tsp yeast. Leave to stand approx. 10 mins. Add 2 cups plain flour, 2Tbsp Cornflour, 1tsp vanilla and 2 egg yolks. Beat in well.
Melt 100g butter and add while beating.
In a separate bowl beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff, fold in and leave mix for approx. 20mins until it has risen slightly.
Use ½ cup per waffle. I find this amount of liquid good but it depends on the size of your cup mine tend to be raised cups not level.

Recipe2: Beat 2 egg yolks together with 2 tsp sugar, add 3/4 cup milk and ½ cup water, 1tsp vanilla and mix well.
Sift 2 cups self raising flour (300g), 2Tbsp cornflour and ¼ tsp salt into bowl and add the egg mixture and 80g melted butter. Beat mixture well until a smooth batter.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. Allow to stand 10mins before use. Use ½ cup per waffle.
I tend to use plain flour and 3tsp baking powder as I never buy self raising flour.
Also I don't use 3 bowls I just put all ingredients into one bowl and using electric mixer mix until its smooth. Difference is nil to final product and much quicker.

I disagree, whipping the egg whites separately to the yolks, for 2 mins till thick and glossy, makes a big difference, very light and seems to increase the amount mixture.
To not only waffles, but fritters and pikelets as well.
