Frank's Sausages

#Post

German style; pretty new into supermarkets. Was talking to Frank's wife the other day - said they came back from Germany and the sausages here were so crap it was make their own or move back to Deutschland lol.

They are german in style however quite yummy. Like the free range aspect too, obviously. Anyone else tried them?

We tried the bratwurst, didn’t like it much. I have to say that the last time I was in Germany I was really disappointed with the quality of the sausages, they all seemed over-processed and full of filler. In six weeks of living in Berlin I didn’t have a single sausage that I enjoyed. Give me the pork and garlic sausages in Roman supermarkets any day!

"Frank's wife" is actually the boss of the operation.

We travel over about once every 6 weeks from Thames to buy some. (their business is in Paeroa. They often have good buys in their shop. Their chorizo is wonderful.

You can go on their mailing list for their weekly deals. If anyone wants their email addy let me know.

I didn't like the bratwurst either, actually. The chicken and tarragon one I do enjoy tho. I made a pasta dish with them and really enjoyed it - something different.

The best IMO are the pork and fennel sausages made by Deep Creek Deli in Dunedin.... stunning.

Lol - their Tauranga shop is about 2 km away from me.....
Lovely foods - they advertise the wurst range as the "best of the wurst" (or something like that).

Great sausages, and an amazing range of cheeses.

ETA: great to make a meat loaf with the usual ingredients of good quality mince and a tube of sausage meat, and arrange some of the speciality sausages (out of their skins) layered throughout. Makes the meat loaf something really special.
