Elderflower lager

#Post
1

When clearing up today found a bottle of the Elderflower lager from last year. Tastes good after a day in the sun. Pleased I put a couple of batches down this year.
My formula is the European lager kit from Coopers. The proper cold fermentation yeast. 20-25 heads Elderflower. Remove heads after 2 days.
Leave in bottle 3 months before drinking. (in a cool spot)

As I understand it, elderflower trees don't grow well in the north.

Maybe you could buy dried ones from a specialist herbalist/natural health shop?

Thank you Samanya :) a Bavarian friend was talking to me about it the other year, and I must ask her what she puts them in (I have a feeling sparkling wine, but maybe it was vodka). So sort of keep an eye out, but obviously have failed so far lol

I discovered that a couple of trees on my new property that we moved to 2 3/4 years ago are actually elderberry trees. My neighbour was over and we went round the far end of the backyard and she got all excited to see the elderflowers on the tree. She took some home to make elderberry/flower cordial with. There are quite a few small ones growing as well so have promised her one when the time is right to transplant. Next year I will be making some elderflower cordial as well, once I get her recipe.
