morning all. busy day got to go help Mr T find his car, buy flower plants. drop of fabric and knit a square, hang out washing have all ready made beds. carolev - 2014-06-07 07:38:00
Busy day carolev. Nice scarf kiwimade and of course that face wouldn't lie. raej2 - 2014-06-07 07:46:00
morning ladies :) Ooooohh the sun has just come out lol, feels warmer already. I've been offered a temporary job for three months to help a friend out working in her shop while a staff member is overseas. I can still relief teach so the best of both worlds. Not too sure of finer details yet but it will keep me busy and a new challenge. Who knows what it could lead too. :) I finished knitting Baxter last night and began stitching him together. I don't like stitching that eyelash yarn at night lol. Still, have his tail and one ear sewn which is a start. Today I want to do the back stitching on the border of my dragon. It feels closer and closer to being finished now. Will also try and get some more squares done. The blankets are looking great! Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-06-07 08:39:00
Morning ladies, much warmer here this morning (Mr K still has the heat pump on, but we really don't need it - well I don't anyway, but he does, so it's on!) What do you mean carolev - "find" his car, has he lost it, or is he looking to buy a new one. Finished a second square last night, and started on a third one, third one will be plain crochet rather than the Bavarian, but I'll do it in several colours for a change. Try and get two done today. Great news about the job kiwimade, that will keep you out of mischief! Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2014-06-07 09:11:00
Morning everyone.. I feel like Ive done a days work already... But its all those jobs that the Mystery person does in the house.. while others stay in bed lol Cant wait to see Baxter Kiwimade. Great news about the work.. Who knows you might meet someone with a teaching job offer that comes into the shop.. Did a fair bit on my friends blanket while I watched Coro last night.. So back to my jacket today.. I can see the light too.. Im a good half way up the front. This will be the last one I knit. As much as Id like a white one, I think a third frill would drive me potty lol Well I have some housework to do so best finish my breakfast and get onto it. Have a good day all popeye333 - 2014-06-07 09:14:00
Tonys car broke down again on his way to work yesterday so he got it towed and I picked him up from work last night but all his tools where in his car so had to go find his car and get his tools out plus he needs a new car too carolev - 2014-06-07 11:22:00
Its a begger when cars break down. I bet Mr T was pleased to have you to call on carolev. I have just finished a 3rd square. Mine are just garter stitch.I am still knitting the hooded wrap. I am doing that in Waffle stitch. grandmasue1 - 2014-06-07 20:21:00
wool is easier to keep out of sight of hubby until you bring it out to use moving2 - 2014-06-07 20:49:00
lol moving2, then you just say, 'this? Ohh I've had it for ages!' just like when you wear new shoes :p kiwimade64 - 2014-06-07 21:54:00
Morning everyone... yes totally agree re the wool, only I have an extra "excuse" This ? Oh I got it from a swap I did a while back lol. Hope you are feeling a bit better GMS. MrP is the same, very worn out. No energy. I did a heap of housework yesterday. so only have to pop up the shop this morning then Im going to DE stash my cross stitch books and what ever I have left in there. And do some listings here and Fb. MrP's leg is healing nicely. will take a while but its clear of infection which is the best bit. I love being able to knit or crochet with Missy on my knee. she takes herself off to the toilet, we haven't had a single mess in the two weeks we have had her. I still have her play pen up tho. She wears Bob out and gets a bit silly. So I pop her in there for time out for Bob. Shes got a pile of toys in there and has fun for an hour or so. Just long enough to recharge the old fellas battery lol Have a good day everyone. popeye333 - 2014-06-08 08:57:00
morning ladies :) A few things to do around the house first, then I'm going to finish the back stitching on my cross stitch border. I need daylight to see it and early morning is best for me. The afternoon sun (assuming we get some today) comes into the living room nice and low late afternoon and is too glaring for me to stitch. And it's too nice to pull the curtains. The Fluffy One comes back to us today so the Furry One will be happy. Set the mouse trap last night but no mouse... hmmm... the Furry One 'told' us there was a mouse and he is usually right so I'll leave the trap out another night. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-06-08 09:03:00
morning did 2 squares yesterday , have a sewing class this morning. then car shopping carolev - 2014-06-08 09:17:00
Morning ladies, I did two squares yesterday as well, try to do two more today and send 6 away tomorrow - that makes a total of 25 I've done, so I think that's not a bad effort on my part. I think we are in for a few showers today, so will have to pick the right time to go for our walk as we are a couple of wimps and don't like getting wet. Hope you find a suitable car carolev - I hate car shopping, absolutely detest it, so good luck. Have a great day everyone. kuaka - 2014-06-08 09:26:00
Well done on the squares Carol and Kuaka.. Awesome efforts... I too hate car shopping... MrP used to say we will just look, and we would end up getting one.. I hate it with a passion. Clouding over hear.. and not terribly warm.. Im going to do my listing then get back to my frill. Have about 3 inches to get to shoulder seam then across the back of the neck to do. Have a good day popeye333 - 2014-06-08 12:11:00
it's not knitting, but this is what I have been working on over the last two days. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/319511778.jpg kiwimade64 - 2014-06-08 14:35:00
I love it Kiwimade... which is more complicated the border or the picture? popeye333 - 2014-06-08 15:41:00
the border, there are several of the Celtic knots not quite the way the designer intended lol. Oh well, makes it unique to me. I've started sewing and stuffing 'baxter' this afternoon seeing as I'm in a hand stitching mood. So far, two ears, one tail and one front paw all stitched. Only the paw needed to be stuffed. He is going to take me a while to piece together as I don't usually knit toys. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-06-08 15:47:00
nite all no luck with a car so guess I have to take him to work tomorrow. or better still have him home all day carolev - 2014-06-08 20:54:00
morning ladies :) hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go! First day on the job today, a training day to learn how to use all the printing machines. I'll find out my 'official' start date as well. Had a long chat to my Texan friend last night on Skype, was 3.00am for him... ooopppsss lol. He reminded me we have been friends for nearly 10 years now, wow, time goes by fast. MrK hasn't used Skype before so was just shaking his head not believing I was chatting to someone on the other side of the world without a 'real' phone lol. Just love Skype. So no crafting for me today, my fingers are a bit sore from all the stitching yesterday anyway. I suppose I've used different muscles to knitting which is probably a good thing. Hope MrT gets his car sorted carole, it's going to be a very wet day to be out and about :) happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-06-09 07:39:00
Raining here, and according to the forecast we are not going to see the sun today, maybe not for a few days, but at least it's not cold. I have to go out later to post a package, then I think I'll do that tidy up I've been putting off for days, and then I might do some sewing before settling in to woolcraft (knit or crochet). Good luck today kiwimade, I'm sure you will enjoy being away from home and working again. Yesterday I decided I didn't like the blanket I'm making and was thinking it will take me forever, and if I did granny squares with black edges it would look quite nice and be much quicker. I was about to unravel all that I've done, when I decided instead to do a granny square and edge it with black. Well I liked that even less than what I've already knitted, so I unravelled that and am going to carry on knitting the blanket. I'm pleased I did the trial square first. Have a great day. kuaka - 2014-06-09 08:59:00
semi fine here can see the sun. had to take MR to work this morning. I just hate going out early. carolev - 2014-06-09 09:12:00
Morning everyone... yes Im late lol IM FINISHED !!!!! the jacket that is.. Finally. 5.5 weeks and 2.5 of those was the frill. Along with mittens for MrP,13 squares and putting the charity blanket together and starting the other crochet blanket all in that time. YAyaya I was sooo over the frill Hope you have a good day Kiwimade, will be different but hopefully interesting. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2014-06-09 09:31:00
Morning all, have dragged and oiled my spinning wheels to-day, have been getting a build up of carded wool so have to reduce some off it. raej2 - 2014-06-09 10:25:00
had a great morning teaching sewing also tought what not to do. I sewed my finger and can't get it to stop bleeding, off to DR for me carolev - 2014-06-09 12:04:00
Ouchies Carole. It will now of course be a nuisance when it comes to doing other things. Finally finished Edited by popeye333 at 12:24 pm, Mon 9 Jun popeye333 - 2014-06-09 12:22:00
Woe popeye that frill really sets it off. Well done for sticking with it raej2 - 2014-06-09 12:39:00
Yeah its a good effect raej, but a lot of knitting lol popeye333 - 2014-06-09 15:40:00
Very nice Popeye see what you mean about not wanting to do the frill again. Hope the work has gone well Kiwimade. Oh ouch Carole and fngers can be so painful when "sewn" hope it is all sorted now. Been overcast but no rain and not very cold so managed a bit of time in the garden. Finished the little ballet cardy for great niece and now trying to decide what to make with some wool I dyed thought it would make a scarf but after trying out several patterns I've ended up with pulling them undone as none of them looked right with the wool, Think I will knit a child's cardy instead. jayemtoo - 2014-06-09 18:26:00
holy moly, it doesn't rain but pours lol... just had the principal of a school call... I have an interview on Monday! I had forgotten I had even applied for the job lol... omg lol...too excited! Got to get passed the interview process first... Oh well, in the meantime, I think I'll enjoy my new job I started today, lots to learn and can be quite creative. kiwimade64 - 2014-06-09 20:54:00
Well done kiwimade, good luck for the interview on Monday - hope it all goes well for you (if it suits you). Nice to have choices!!! kuaka - 2014-06-09 21:05:00
good luck kiwi. hope you get the job that's right for you. fingers still sore and found it hard knitting with it last night, off to see the head srink this morning then sewing this avo carolev - 2014-06-10 07:12:00
morning ladies :) I had a restless night last night - the Furry and Fluffy Ones didn't help lol wanting to share the bed and MrK with his carpel tunnel. Between them and me getting wound up about this interview on Monday, I didn't get much sleep. Thank you for the good wishes, the school is a bit out of my way travel wise but if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes. Sewed a bit more of Baxter yesterday but was quite restless and couldn't sit for long enough to do more. There are so many 'good' things happening at once (tax refund too lol) it's hard at times to believe. After nearly two years of nothing the flood gates open lol. Hope your finger mends soon carole, nothing worse than a sore digit - finger or toe! I've stitched my finger years ago and still remember the mess it made. Off to work this morning (dam it sounds good to say that!). MrK has said he will be Kitchen B**** while I work so good to have the support. Happy knitting :) and knit a few rows for me :P Edited by kiwimade64 at 7:41 am, Tue 10 Jun kiwimade64 - 2014-06-10 07:40:00
Morning everyone. Awesome news Kiwimade... Now put the interview out of your head. nothing you can do about it between now and when you go. so don't worry. I often put things like that on a "Shelf" in my mind. And not think about it till just before. Otherwise your wasting your worry. Good Luck. I sewed my finger three times when in sewing factories, so know what your going through Carole. doing it it summer was much preferable than having a cold sewn finger too. annoying when you have wool like that eh Jayemtoo. I have a variegated that I got to do a blanket and it never looked right. The only thing I have liked it in was a bow knot scarf. Warm and wet here. very dark. I was in bad pain yesterday, spine out top hip. But Had a permanent furry Hottie on my hip all night.. First time Missy has been out of her night pen and she was brilliant. So now I have two containers of bikkies on the bed. Its a long time since Ive had a cuddly kitty on the bed. Bob just sleeps at the foot. Have an awesome Day popeye333 - 2014-06-10 09:09:00
Having to use Pasues laptop and it is a little unfamiliar. Try not to fret and stress about the interview * kiwimade* although I do hear they are quite in depth these days. I sure hope that your finger is improving carolev and also that your appointment went well. Also that your hip pain is controlled *popeye* Your jacket looked awesome. XXX to all of you, I had better think about tea as it is that time again. grandmasue1 - 2014-06-10 17:18:00
I cant imagine what it must be like for you GMS. I have sleeping pills but have tried only to take them when I absolutely need them. My twin is very addictive to pills and Im determined not to go down that track. Does it matter if you need to take them? Sometimes we just need things to make life better My Hip is a lot better today. Must be due to it having a kitty on it all night lol Ive done a little crochet, but got side tracked with the camera when My wee girl was on my knee all afternoon popeye333 - 2014-06-10 17:57:00
What a day. After spending two days trying to track down a bad smell in the stairwell which Mr K insisted was either a dead rat or a rotten onion, and which I said was cat'spee, I saw little puss head off down the stairs late yesterday afternoon and pee on the rug on the bottom landing. Grrr. When I lifted it, there were several wet patches on it, so I lugged it up the stairs and chucked it out on the deck where I scrubbed it with hot soapy water - and took the skin off my fingers in doing so, then I scrubbed the landing, (had already done the stairwell) and all is smelling sweet again. But this morning puss is running around, squatting and trying to pee all over the place, so off to the vet. Vet checked her and diagnosed "feline idiopathic cystitis" - in other words the vet doesn't really know why she's doing it but said she is stressed out - her heart rate was way up, next thing she's purring. Trust me to get a neurotic cat! Maybe I should send her across to the house next door from which we smelled whacky baccy several times during the summer, might calm her down. So she gave her a pain killing injection, a worm tablet and said that will be $57 thank you. She seems much more her usual self tonight. Haven't had time to think today, let alone do any knitting or crochet, but I will do some tonight. Hope you've all had a good day. kuaka - 2014-06-10 19:45:00
My back always feels better after the Furry One has snuggled up against it at night, I think it's because he is a constant warmth not like a hot water bottle or heat pack which cools down. No knitting done tonight as we were dogsitting my friend's dog for the evening so had three terriers lol... omg... maybe we should open a doggy daycare! It is a pretty wild night out there, the wind is blowing and it hasn't stopped raining for around 24 hours now. Field Days kick in tomorrow so the roads will not only be slippery and wet, but really busy too. Won't matter which way I go to work, there will be a ton of traffic. Hope everyone is well and tucked up warm and dry. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-06-10 22:56:00
Not knitting I know, but my two being all sweet and sharing raej2 - 2014-06-11 05:45:00
what a night the storm and winds are really bad. bet 1/2 of the tents are field days will have blown away. wind so strong it blow my bedroom door open. carolev - 2014-06-11 06:07:00
Morning everyone. Hope its not too bad where you are. MrP said we had a lot of rain through the night. But I don't hear it. Seems we always get the lighter side of weather. Raej2 the pics are cute. Link to the second one doesn't work but I got it in the end. Just a quiet day here. Ill try and get as close to finished as I can on the blanket. Have a good day all popeye333 - 2014-06-11 09:11:00
popeye, she's good as gold this morning, and yes, there's another cat moved in next door and it's a huge thing compared to our dainty wee puss. And just to rub salt into the wound, the vet said that the expensive kitty litter which I'm using, which is supposed to be odourless, is only odourless to us, the cats can still smell it, so she said to change to the el cheapo stuff and only use a little and change it every day or every second day. Oh well. We still love her, and wouldn't be without her. But like I said to Mr K "trust us to get a neurotic cat!" Better get cracking as I've decided that seeing as the sun is shining I'm going to knit and natter this morning, and I haven't even had breakfast yet. The day is just so different from yesterday, there was flooding in places round here, and the sea is brown with all the rain and it was quite rough yesterday, looks a bit strange seeing brown surf rolling onto the beach which was strewn with seaweed. Hardly a breath of wind this morning. Right, a into g for me. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2014-06-11 09:57:00
bit late today but we had no power this morning so no water as we pump our water. Breakfast was cooked on the little camp cooker and water (luckily we had some in the kettle) for coffee boiled in a pot. Cleaned my teeth etc at my sisters :). Now I'm just waiting for my soup to cool for lunch. I bet the Field days are on the news tonight, I can't imagine many of those tents being storm lashed for the night. It was pretty wild here, at one stage I thought we were going to loose our roof. Lucky for us our house is pretty solid. Came home and MrK had left me a note saying he has been roped in to help a friend so only the dogs home to greet me lol. Will get dishes done (My Kitchen B**** didn't get them done lol) and then have to go and make an insurance claim. I backed into a car this afternoon, no damage to my car and only scuff marks on her grill but will put a claim in to protect myself. Did take a pic on my phone 'just in case'. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-06-11 13:33:00
Afternoon everyone. A bit chilly here today. Have made a few more squares so must look up the facebook page to send them off. I'm liking knitting little things. Its nice to finish something if knitting a square IS finishing something. I looked up Deramores today...big mistake, I feel I might have to unpack another box of my hoardings and go shopping! vivz2 - 2014-06-11 14:57:00
Wow not a great time down there Kiwimade. Theres a lot of pics on stuff re the wind etc and tents at the field days I have just finished the blanket Now I have to think about what I will do next. while waiting for more squares. And your right Viv it is completing something with each square you make. popeye333 - 2014-06-11 15:54:00
