Bavarian crochet is the pattern I was trying to think of popeye!

Yes please Kuaka, Id love to have the squares.
Ouch I can imagine your toe in the cold.

My soup is always the same Jayem, I usually offer MrP a slice of soup.. yesterdays pot wasn't as thick as normal. But Ive got 10 containers in the freezer. And he had a big bowl last night and just had another for his lunch.
I love making it, I just don't eat it lol.

Ive put three pictures that we don't have on the wall, under my bed this morning. bob helped all the way lol.. Hopefully they wont hassle them too much.
Have got a few things to put on here but the camera battery is flat... Not surprising with madam lol.

Have joined a few squares while Poppy was honing around playing with Bob.

Sun still isn't around on the roses yet. So Ill do them later.

Have a wonderfull day

Yes the sun is behind a cloud here too.. Been a nice day tho

Have done the roses. And crocheted another row together. Just have to sew the ends in and that's 5 I think.
Will do some work on my jacket tonight. Havent done any on it since Friday.

Almost finished the second sock. Now I know what I am doing, it is much quicker.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone..
I found the second sock went faster too Kiwimade. two terriers are fun to have eh.. we had two and they were good company for each other

Hope Cloe is home Carole. Could be shut in someones garage.

I have two rows of squares to join, will get them done today. Then back to my jacket. Have just made it across the back. Will stitch that on and then have the front and across the back of the neck and Im done. Another few days for that.

Im going to take my larger top down dress next door and see if Addy fits it yet.

Big sale at spotlight, but Im not in the least tempted

Sore ribs today, probably from stretching into the garden to trim the roses.

Have an awesome day everyone

Overcast here but not as cold. I didn't sleep well last night, woke at 4.30 and read till 5.30 then thought I'll just have five more minutes and I might a well get up. Mr K brought me a cup of tea at 9.15.

Yesterday I did a couple of small sewing jobs that have been bugging me for ages. I shortened the sleeves on two jerseys (bought ones) the actual sewing didn't take long, but first I had to change the thread in the overlocker as it had white on it, and I wanted burgundy for the first jersey and teal for the second one. It seemed to take forever to change the threads, then of course I had to find the right coloured threads for the sewing machine, that didn't take so long but then check the length of the sleeves, cut off the surplus, then overlock them, try them on again to make sure I'd taken enough off, then hem them with the stretch stitch, but first I had to find where I'd hidden all the fancy stitch cams. So what was a little job took me over an hour. Mr K thought I'd left home. I had told him I wouldn't be long. I still have two more to do, but I don't need to change the threads on the overlocker for the next one.

Might have to try to mow a lawn today and do the vacuuming. I did the kitchen floor yesterday, I suppose one of these days I will get the place all tidy and spic and span and nobody will come to visit!

Happy knitting everyone.

Yes I am knitting. Knitting freestyle :) it might end up a hooded carrying cape or maybe a baby blanket. I don't have a pattern just free flowing as I go. I can't seem to get warm.

grandmasue1 - 2014-06-02 10:37:00
4860

MrK can't get warm either GMS and I'm saying it's not that cold! Gotta love menopause lol. Would love to see what you are making :)

I finished the socks, phew! And MrK loves them and wants more as well as another beanie. Will see how I go.

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/318737679.jpg

Not too shabby for my first official pair. The picture frames in the background are MrK's latest project. He had some scrap rimu and decided to have a go. They turned out beautifully. Will put some photos of our wee grandy in them.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-02 12:19:00
4861

They are awesome Kiwimade, A shade or two darker than MrPs but the same blue. Well done.

Wow Kuaka that's a nice extra sleep in. You must have needed it. Im soo pleased we don't have to mow our lawns. Ours are due to be done today, so I guess it will happen tomorrow instead.

MrP is feeling the cold far more than me too.. Mind you he is sitting there with his mittens on and a short sleeved shirt and polar fleece vest... lol..

Ive finished connecting the squares into rows.. will join them up tomorrow. well start to anyway. I really want my jacket done too. Ill wear this one more, the red one will be for "Good" lol.

Took a couple of cute pics of Poppy. Will put them in the main mb and fb of course lol

Gee its one of those days where its warmer outside than in here in Kapiti. I'm am so peeved....I'd put three easter eggs away to post with my daughters bedsocks and hottie cover to Dunedin and my partners dog just found the bag in the open wardrobe and ate them....wouldn't be so bad but its the third year in a row Ive left it late to send and hes eaten them (and that was before easter).....I am not going to be popular :(

vivz2 - 2014-06-02 14:19:00
4863

I Hope the dog is ok Vivz2, chocolate is poison to Dogs.. just keep an eye on him.
Must be more careful with the doors. Make sure they are shut and it shouldn't happen. or put them in a plastic rolling bin with lid., Wont get them then.
Norty dog. Hope its ok tho

popeye333 - 2014-06-02 15:47:00
4864

omg vivz2, naughty boy! Your dog sounds like mine lol. if he can get his paws on chocolate he will. Hope he is OK, the darker the chocolate the worse it is for them. The Furry and Fluffy Ones are racing round madly, they should settle soon. They just look so happy lol.

Am trying to decide what to knit next, I want it to be for me. So I'm off to peruse the ravelry website :P.

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-02 18:25:00
4865

Love the socks Kiwimade, now you will be on a roll with socks. hope you can find something you really like to knit for yourself. I don't knit for myself very often but do make slippers and socks and just finished a pair of fingerless gloves.

Be interesting to see how the freestyle knitting turns out GMS.
Oh those naughty dogs Vivz2 - put the eggs under lock and key next year or better still send them off as soon as you buy them lol.
Another cold and drizzly day here I find that it is much harder to get motivated to do much when the weather is like this, Did get to the hospital this pm to visit and took some crocheting to do while chatting with the patient.

sleep well everyone

jayemtoo - 2014-06-02 19:52:00
4866

OMG!! lol, I found the most gorgeous scarf pattern on ravelry and the pattern is free... it's 2 ply...eeekkk... but soooo pretty and girly. Spotlight have a sale tomorrow - perfect timing! So I need to buy some eyelash yarn, eyes and nose for 'baxter' the dog and some 2 ply for me. Will be the first time in over thirty years I have knitted for me :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-02 21:23:00
4867

Good luck kiwimade, I'm waiting for some lace weight to arrive. In the meantime made a shawl out of some random thread that I found in a second hand shop, it has about 8 strands of what ever it is, a bit thicker than I wanted but good to practice pattern on. Made tony a scarf using linen stitch in crochet the pattern calls for 4 ply and will make myself one in that but made his in chunky, again to try out the pattern. Will post pictures tomorrow only have 2 gig main but 30 off peak (12-8am) so have to time my uploads and downloads.
Viv had a rabbit that used to sneak my easter eggs you would just find the wrappers, lol he thought he was a cat and used to just roam free and use the litterbox.
Popeye good luck with the joining thats the worst bit.
I've never used an overlocker but mum gave me one once and for years its sat under a spare bed threading put me right off.
freestyle knitting would be quite cool but I don't think I'm creative enough.
Found a nice pair of fingerless gloves on interweave but they look a bit complicated for me brought the pattern though and one day may try it
Lol sorry about the ramble, catching up all at once

raej2 - 2014-06-02 22:43:00
4868

morning all. feels cold outside but warm in here had a bad night, . I love my new over locker it's a auto threader,

carolev - 2014-06-03 05:53:00
4869

morning ladies :) sigh.... an auto threader, what bliss!

I've got a busy day out and about today so no time for knitting or sewing until later in the day.

The Furry and Fluffy Ones have greeted the bin man with their usual gusto - just as well we live in the country! Must go into the council and pay the Furry One's registration. Haven't got the bill yet but it won't be far away.

Fingers are itching to stitch and knit lol, have a list a mile long! raej, I haven't tried the linen stitch but it looks awesome. It's been added to my list. Husband calls it my 'loo paper' list as it just keeps on rolling out! Cheeky buggar - but I know he has a 'to do' list as well for his woodwork!

carole, has puss turned up yet?

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-03 08:30:00
4870

Morning everyone. Its chilly here but not cold.

Our recycle truck has been already, very early for them. Just as well MrP went and put it out early. The bin man will grunt when he picks the bag up tho. Its got plant waste in it and is heavy.

Saturday morn we discovered that MrP had scratch a pile of skin off his shin, with the rough other foot. I put savalon on it and wrapped it. its horrible this morning , so have made an appointment with dr. had to go anyway to get his script, so if nothing else it was good timing. Hope it doesn't turn into an ulcer its yucky.

I will start crocheting the rows together today, and carry on with jacket.

Isnt it funny how we can go for soo long without knitting anything for ourselves. I have scored well from my work in the last year tho. After the jacket it will stop again tho lol.

Lol at the Loo paper, Im normally a list maker but I haven't with what I want to do. A friend has asked me to crochet a baby blanket for her. But Ive told her not until my jacket is finished . Baby is being induced today. She admits she should have asked a while ago.

Have a good day everyone.

Deary me. Mr P's leg does not sound at all nice :(
My freeflow knitting is rather similar to a pic posted on facebook except mine is in waffle stitck.
ooops gotta go bbl.

grandmasue1 - 2014-06-03 13:59:00
4872

oohhh not good at all popeye, hopefully it can be sorted.

I tried to find some 2ply/finger wool today but will keep looking. I will know it when I see it! In the meantime I have some 'eyelash' yarn to knit Baxter the puppy. I don't usually knit this type of yarn but couldn't resist this wee chap lol.

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-03 15:08:00
4873

Hi All.. Dr was pleased with MrPs leg.. not pleased it had happened but he said its a good clean wound, no temp or fever and cos his BSLs are normal he was pleased. Put it through on ACC lol.. The nurse re-dressed it and gave me some stuff to do it for the next couple of days. And he will see the nurse again on Friday.

Are you going to do the Hooded wrap with your freestyle GMS? that was cool eh.

You will find the right wool when its the right time Kiwimade. Baxter was sooo cute. Im not going to be tempted tho. Have enough to do at the mo.

Was talking to one of the Opp shop ladies at med centre. She went home to South Africa just before Christmas and took 23 pairs of socks with her. all the grandies socks had money on them. Cool idea. she is knitting some lovely mauve booties for a great great grand daughter.

Ive one more row to crochet on blanket. And some how Ive ended up with the two Owls on the same side. but when I sewn the ends in I do it super well. So no chance of undoing it. Will still look ok. Ill do that tomorrow. will do some more frill tonight.

All Poppy's siblings have gone to good homes now. Must ask to see what the mother looks like. Soo cute she runs out to see Bob and flings her front legs around his neck. hes not 100% happy about it, but its like "Im soo pleased to see you" from her.

Have a good evening everyone

popeye333 - 2014-06-03 18:55:00
4874

popeye - I did a double take when I read your post 'cos I wasn't wearing my specs and thought you said Mr P had taken the skin off his "chin" with his foot, and I'm thinking "I wish I was that supple!!!" Hope his shin heals up soon and doesn't get ulcerated.

Not much done today, we did manage to get a walk in and just got back to the old wagon as the rain started. Rained all afternoon despite the fact that the weather map shows a big high all over us.

Nice afternoon playing mah jong and then home to cook the spuds and cabbage to go with the corned beef, onions and carrots that had been in the crockpot all day and to follow we had the other half of the bread and butter pudding which I made yesterday - reheated it in the microwave and it was just as good as it was yesterday. (and even though Mr K said it was all they ever had as kids, he scoffed it down and said it was good)

Must try and do some knitting tonight and sort out something "no think" to do tomorrow at knit and natter.

kuaka - 2014-06-03 18:57:00
4875

Lol Kuaka, No way in h*ll he can reach his chin lol.. Me Yup easy... I might be a big girl but I can still touch my forehead with my toes lol. Fingers crossed it stays good.
Havent had corned beef for ages.. I would never eat it, (especially when Mum cooked it ). But once I started cooking it in the crockpot I will eat a little. But I don't put anything but water in it. Cos I don't like onions tainting things.

It was horrible sitting at the med centre without knitting. I hadn't confirmed colours for the baby blanket with a friend, or Id have been able to take that with me.

Right Ive done all I can here so ill get back to my frill now...

popeye333 - 2014-06-03 19:23:00

My rather large husband had me in fits of laughter today telling the grandkids how he used to do the Limbo Rock. It must have been before I came on the scene and we have been married 49 years this month.
Off to bed , I am rather weary.

grandmasue1 - 2014-06-03 21:33:00
4877

morning all. feeling better today might pick up my needles later,

carolev - 2014-06-04 08:15:00
4878

morning ladies :) lol GMS and I bet the grandkids gave him heaps! Don't they love it when granddad/nana tell stories about their youth. They soon realise everyone was young once!

I've knitted the head and body of Baxter. This 'eyelash' yarn isn't too bad to knit. The Furry and Fluffy Ones are fascinated by the yarn and I've caught both of them have trying to sneak off with it. Might have knit something for them out of any leftover yarn. :)

It's a gorgeous day today so I'm going to leave the dishes for MrK and go outside to finish the pruning and get a couple of hours weeding in. Amazing what I can get done with MrK busy doing other things!

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-04 08:18:00
4879

Morning everyone.
Lol GMS I can imagine the kids faces, and did that follow with "Did he really Nana?" lol
I didn't mind knitting the eyelash yarn.. did a heap of hats and scarves. I think I have a stray ball of pink in the drawers. if I find it Ill send it to you Kiwimade, for the furry ones. I cant see me using it.

I finished joining the rows last night. so today Ill get to doing a crochet edge on it. Im really glad I put the knitted squares in the middle, means I wont have to try and space things out on them with the hook.

MrPs leg looking far better than yesterday. The ointment they used is helping. Once again He is a bit down. Apologising for taking up soo much of my time. Always being sick or sore. I gently reminded him I take my vows seriously, and I love tending to wounds etc. lol

Another lovely day here. Ive got to go post some sales. Then Ill try and get this blanket done. Ill lay it on the double bed later to see just how big it is.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-06-04 08:54:00

It's overcast and looks like rain up here and it obviously has been raining in the night as everything outside is dripping wet. Knit and natter this morning, I heard last night that our one and only supermarket is closing down at the end of this month - no mention of whether it's being taken over by the competition. Bit of a pain really as it means I will have to go to Kerikeri once a month to do a big shop which means extra travelling so will take longer and cost more for diesel. Grrrrr. I can't afford to get all my groceries at the local four square shop. Maybe it's just a rumour and it isn't actually happening. I guess time will tell.

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2014-06-04 08:59:00
4881

we have rumours flying round our town constantly too kuaka, the joys of small town living. But what a pain if it does close down. Have just come inside for a cuppa. The dogs are knackered lol, racing round and round and round the garden. They are just so joyful and you have to laugh at them egging each other on. My sister's westie is a tad muddy though...ooppsss lol.

Will be outside for most of the day I think, it is such a stunner out there. Then knitting this evening :).

Good to hear of MrP's leg popeye :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-04 10:20:00
4882

Wow Kuaka, hope that doesn't happen.. Ive always believed in shopping in your own town. but I wouldn't want to shop at a four square all the time either.
Ive managed to get my friend into shopping at home more. she would spend $10 on petrol to save $10 at Pak n Save. since we moved here 10 years ago we have a big new New world, Mitre10 has doubled and a lot of new shops.
We are going to change Poppy's name. Sadly its too close to Bob (bobby) and he is getting confused.
So she will be Missy now. we have both called her little miss at times so she should pick it up. And she was just starting to answer to Poppy too. But it will be a lot better for Bob.
I got her a collar, what a joke lol... when I did it up, after id added more holes, she only just gets over the elastic piece lol... Ill crochet a collar for her this afternoon. So she gets used to something being around her neck.

Have taken pics of the blanket. Will put them on fb soon

popeye333 - 2014-06-04 12:23:00
4883

Kuaka thanks for the suggestion of the laser pointer. They love it.

Excellent distraction when Madam thinks its cool to play with the bottom of the drapes.

Shes got a crochet collar on, with a bell... Shes worn out now, sleeping on her pillow

popeye333 - 2014-06-04 15:51:00
4884

That's okay popeye, my cat loves it too, although if I play with her and it too often, so tends to ignore it, so I give her little spells when we don't play with it. But I must have bought it over a year ago and she still hasn't figured out why she can't catch that little red light - and she only seems interested in the little red dot, not the other shapes.

kuaka - 2014-06-04 16:06:00
4885

I haven't tried the picture ones, they are very pale. So Ive only been using the dot. Hilarious when you put it on their foot lol.

Cant wait to see what its like when the room is darker at night time lol

popeye333 - 2014-06-04 16:41:00
4886

Hi all, went to spotlight today, thought I would get Tony a latch hook kit to do at night because he is driving me nuts. No male type ones and quite expensive so didn't get. Went into a second hand shop and they had some latch hook canvas so when I took that up to the counter she said 'Oh I have 2 bags of rug wool out the back" grabbed that and now will wait and see what he thinks about making a freestyle rug. He doesn't have a creative bone in his body and no imagination so should be interesting

raej2 - 2014-06-04 17:16:00
4887

Lol forgot to add that I haven't even mentioned his new hobby to him yet

morning all. we have found our missing cat , she came home late last night safe and well. now I might be able to knit again

carolev - 2014-06-05 06:19:00
4889

morning ladies :) can't help but laugh at your post raej... I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you tell him!

I've knitted the two back legs and one front leg for Baxter, so have a three legged dog so far lol. I had two very tuckered out real dogs last night, they had a very busy day chasing each other. My sister told me her girl sleeps all the first day home lol.

I'm trying to get my dragon finished too but there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done that I want. Heaven help me when I finally do get a full time job lol.

Good to hear puss is home carole, she probably went for a wander and was locked in somewhere.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-05 07:55:00
4890

Morning everyone.
Glad to hear Cleo is home Carole. Poor thing probably spent the long weekend in a garage somewhere. But at least she knows where home is.

Lol Raej, good thinking, Only you might end up with a rug monster addicted to it. Then he might need to buy lots of kits and that might interfere with wool money lol.

Your doing well with Baxter Kiwimade. What colour is he?

I only have one side to crochet on and the blanket is done. So that will be done by lunchtime hopefully.
A small shop today since we did a big one last week.

Then I have a blue baby blanket to do. And My Jacket.

A chilly start here but not cold or anything.

HAve a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-06-05 08:39:00

asked her what happened story I got told is she got into the news paper delivery mans car and hide and had to walk home from his place when she got out. haha

carolev - 2014-06-05 11:21:00
4892

Lol popeye the way I see it is, I get wool for him he pays for it plus a bit extra for my time in finding it and that goes towards wool I want. At the moment I'm on a self imposed wool buying ban so buying wool for him doesn't count and I still get my fix. He took to it quite well using one colour that was already cut, when I suggested that he might like to change colour I got glared at and told "I'm doing a square". It might be hard to stay out of it and let him get on. Plus I thought very hard about him storing his stash with mine as his is quite bulky and made it seem like I had too much, so tossed it all in his wardrobe. Will be intersting to see if he sticks with it when the novelty wears off
Kiwimade do you have a link for the scarf pattern sounds interesting

raej2 - 2014-06-05 12:19:00
4893

Lol Carole that's a good story from Cleo..

Very true Raej, either way your getting a fix.

I have finished the border on my first Wrap NZ blanket. Will put a pic on fb soon.

Kuaka The squares arrived this morning. They are SOOO pretty.. They will have special places in the next blanket.

Have chosen the blues for the baby blanket. But will be doing my frill today.

carolev - 2014-06-06 07:50:00
4896

morning ladies :) I believe Cleo lol, who wouldn't believe a cat!

Here's a link to the scarf I want to knit once I find the right colour. I'll know it when I see it :). And Baxter is a kinda mid-brown with a touch of cream and cream contrast. So far so good, just the tail to knit now. There really wasn't a great choice of colour when I went to Spotlight but overall I'm happy.

Almost there with the dragon's border, can't say I'll be sorry to finish this bit!

happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-06-06 08:21:00
4897

kiwimade - where's the link?

Weak sun here, we've obviously had quite a heavy shower before I woke, but the Herald was nicely wrapped in plastic so wasn't wet - before I started complaining that I was sick of getting sopping wet newspapers, they were never wrapped, just chucked in the driveway. Sometimes it pays to complain.

I'm only on the third strip of my blanket - I can see this taking me all winter. Never mind, I really want it as a bed cover rather than to use as a blanket. I think it's a bit of a daft idea as I'm sure puss will wreck it in next to no time, once she finds it and gets her claws in it. She's already wrecked the new curtains I made for the family room so I am thinking I will put them in the bedroom and make more for the family room. I've got heaps of fabric, hadn't planned on making more so soon.

I've started another square for Lets wrap up NZ, but I'm thinking that one of the colours I've used is thicker than standard dk. I'll start another using yarn I've used before and compare the size. Hope to get half a dozen finished over the weekend. Are you up for some more Su or will I send them somewhere else?

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2014-06-06 08:59:00

Morning everyone.

Yes please Kuaka. Ive only got about a dozen at the mo.

Missy has taken to the draps in the lounge, ranchslider ones of course. but shes learning what the spray bottle does lol.

Im concentrating on my jacket at the mo. But will do a bit of the blanket everyday for my friend. Ill take it to the med centre this morning ,.

I feel the same re the blankets Kuaka. If I put my big one on the bed it will end up covered in cat fur. Bob is a profuse moulter. So it would have to be covered and hardly any sense in that eh, after all the work.

Have a good day everyone
