Sigh....that weekend seemed far too short. Did some pottering in the garden though which was very pleasant although didn't appreciate the refuse centre putting the prices up yesterday. It's now $9.30 to get rid of my green waste bag because we put it in the station wagon. If I put it in my hatchback it would be less! Same jolly bag for goodness sake, same amount of green waste - just easier to get it and out of the wagon. Sigh. I was up to nearly 11 last night finishing a prem fairisle hoody jacket to put in the shop this morning. But I've got to go to work first to do the registration stuff fot the holiday programme. At least I'll be able to finish early this afternoon.

Everyone is sick! Chicken pox has got B4 in it's clutches, Suzy and at least 3 people have the 'flu, I. is home with a migraine and I have stayed home as well - I've given up fighting the vertigo that started yesterday. 3 of the volunteers at the shop go into hospital for various reasons and others are down with bugs or injuries. It's getting ridiculous!

My boss has given me the day off today as well. Shame it's still raining. How is everyone after that 'quake last night up your way? We were just going to bed when it hit here. The girls all shot off to different parts of the house, I was very pleased their cat door was locked. It took an hour or so for them to settle into our bed. I was surprised it we felt it that strong here when I found out where it was, thought it was just one of our usuals.LOL.

I took the girls to Lollypops from 11 to 3 to do the same thing. They went home with their mum late this afternoon very tired indeed. We never felt a thing with the quake grizzly and I was awake at that time. I hope you enjoyed your day off. You needed it of course. No bugs here touch wood but I need a break after 18 months of asthma.

I'm with you, smartgirl, about the asthma. Went to the doctor this week to renew prescriptions and had to wait so long in the waiting room I got cold and of course started coughing. B*#%&* doctor said " You need to expect that this time of the year, I guess". My reply " I live with this cough 24/7, it's not seasonal and I have had it 6 years"!!!!!!!! Would you believe he had to check their notes.I have been to see him at least every 3 months during that time. He has been our family doctor for 26 years. Goodness only knows why.

Grizzly that is dreadful. I changed my medication and now I dont even use my ventolin. I dont even take it with me when I go to rugby or anywhere else. Its like I am no longer an asthmatic. It is wonderful. You need to see another doctor. Is there another you can make an appointment with perhaps on your doctors day off. I think most have a half day off during the week. I know of at least 3 practices up here that do that. You have had that cough ever since we have known you. I cant believe the waiting room was cold. That is dreadful.

My doctors are a husband and wife team so I see as much of one as the other. I was referred to lots of specialists in the first couple of years as well. None of them had answers. Sigh. It's almost impossible to register with another doctor down here, my daughter ended up staying with our one for that reason even though it means travelling all the way across town from where she lives. We are too but at least I still work over that side.
L5 is coming to stay for a couple of nights. It's been a year since my son's wedding so they are going to Hanmer Springs for the weekend. L5 is at the end of his first week on a holiday programme.

We had a wonderful weekend with L5! Gave him some pocket money for the weekend and first thing he bought was a toothbrush 'cos his Mum forgot to pack his. The new PINK! one stays here. LOL. We went to feed the ducks with B4 and our daughter and ate icecream in the sun - can you believe it? Took him to breakfast yesterday morning where he loved his pancakes and hot chocolate. Then spent the res of his pockert money on hot wheels cars - 2 for him and to for his brother , B7. Isn't he lovely?

L5 sounds just like K who is 3. He also has pink Dora Pys that M has grown out of and he loves hot wheels as well. He goes to sleep with a couple of cars in his car bed lol. When he stays here I have to sneak in and remove the cars when he is asleep. He has a giraffe toothbrush which stays here plus his animal towels of course. You need more space for all their little extras. ha ha. S was supposed to fly out today but they cancelled til tomorrow so M is delighted and so am I ho ho.

This virus going around is dreadful, we still have staff off sick which is awful over the holiday prtogramme and kids are still going down with it as well. Thank goodness the sun is to shine again today 'cos the power goes off for awhile this morning and this afternoon for repairs to the substation. Great timing as its -3!!!!

LOl, wishful thinking on my part that there's a bottle in the house of anything stronger than diet coke!! Went with the holiday programme swimming at the new pool in Rangiora. Amazing place but a 45 minute bus trip each way and then 2 hours at the pool. I can still smell chlorine! The heat and noise plus a late lunch gave me a wicked head ache. Trip went well though and L5 fell asleep next to me on the bus.

moodle,have not got a clue, maybe a mouse and a poodle lol. Must be maltese i guess. when i was young a cross bread was called a mutt, now they are called fancy names and called designer lol. Chii my daughters dog is a chihuahua and dachshund cross and she is a chippolata.

Ok I've stopped laughing now.......Yesterday I. stayed home because of severe dizzy spells. I thought he might be coming dow with the 'flu thats going round so he stayed in bed and I went to work. He was up when I got home but said his head feels like cotton wool and was still dizzy. This morning he is very dizzy with a headache and I wonder if he is reacting to the Lipitor meds he started last week for high cholesterol. I've got to try to get hold of our stupid doctor before I go to work at 8 which will be a mission. We still have people off sick at work so I can't stay home and sort this out although I don't llike leaving when he is like this either. And we won't mention that he isn't entitled to sick leave yet at this job. Boy, we need a break.

Of course no-one can say for sure whether it is an effect from his meds or just another type of virus going round. Sigh. We do know for sure he can't eat the lovely marmalade I made because it has grapefruit in it. Grrrr. Sigh.Now looking for an alternative recipe I can make for him And I have a migraine that started yesterday afternoon. Just like the ones I used to get before menopause. Had migraines 2 a week, 3 days each from the each of 12 till I was 43. This is only my second in 10 years. I cannot describe the relief when they stopped or the fear I feel now when I think they might come back.

Hi girls. Yes he is a designer dog Poodle and Maltese Terrier. He is white. I had to leave him with my daughter up at the beach for a night as I had my nephews Unveiling yesterday and left home at 6 to be in Rotorua for the morning service. We then drove to Hamilton for the rest of the days events. Got home late last night after picking T up, He was a nervous wreck poor little thing was back to his usual self this morning. It has been an awful week. One of my grandson's friends died on Thursday so everyone is grieving. It never seems to end. C has had two other friends who nearly died in the last two months. What is happening with our young men. Depression is taking far too many of them. We are thinking of organising support groups with non judgemental facilitators for the kids and their parents. One of the parents has already been to see my daughter just so she could talk to someone else who knows her boy We have to work something out..

That's terribly sad, makerealbany. There's not enough adolescent mental health support at all any more. Just about all the services we had down here have disappeared over the years, doesn't seem to be a priority for funding compared to sports grounds, highways and cathedrals.

Yes I agree Grizzly. Funding is being cut in all directions and yet there is always money for stupid things. We have a very high Adolescent mental health probelm in NZ and high Suicide rates. A lot of the facilities for young people suffering from severe depression are archaic buildings which must seem like a prison to them. I know they have to keep them safe but they are dull, dreary dumps. Got my test results back and to be as expected. More degeneration in the spine. Have a low blood count and I am trying to eat some red meat. as the iron tablets just dont sit well in my stomach. Got that darn headache that comes with it. Apart from that it appears to be a nice day here. Hope it stays fine.

Well today is a better day. M has tonsilitis and was awful yesterday. J has another virus and K has high temps. We also have J here who is 8. Unfortunately his Dad, S and little E were visited by a friend last weekend and she now has whooping cough so J cannot go to his Dads for the weekend as his Mum does not believe in vacinations and he has not been vacinated for anything. My son argues with her but to no avail. J has a rugby tournament all day tomorrow and then he goes back to Hamilton. M,s preschool said there is a distinct pattern. Kids get sick are off for awhile come back and then pick up another bug and are sick again. It is so darn frustrating and of course they give it to their grandparents. Lol. I went for my Super Appointment yesterday and it was pretty painless ha ha. A has to go and get her groceries so I am minding the camp until she gets back. After that I intend to knit, knit, knit.

got most of my house cleared of furniture, the builders are coming in on monday to start post quake work, they sayit will take 5 weeks, they are going to jack the house up and pack the piles , re do the brick work and repair the roof, then fix the cracks in walls and celings and redecorate all through, starting on lounge ,kitchen daughters bedroom and hall way, so we living in two back rooms, then we will move in to lounge and daughters room so they can finish the rest of the house. Dog and cat are very confused at us moving furniture out. Really not looking forward to the next 5 weeks but will be worth it in the end.

I. and I are lucky so far not to have had the full on 'flu others around us have had. Our dizzy spells were some virus or other but didn't get any other symptoms. Fingers crossed for the rest of winter.
We picked up our dryer yesterday. It blew up last winter and we have made do since. However those last 2 weeks of cold and wet and taking a week to dry sheets made us send it off to be fixed. $181 later it is back in the garage and just in time looking at the weather forecast for the next week.

It poured all night here. My daughter has a leak and her water bill was $1000 for 3 months. I nearly had a fit. She has a plumber coming on Wed. She has had so much to deal with this is just another burden for her to bear. Sigh. She has the court case against the firm who redid her bathroom thru her insurance companyand messed that up so the bathroom has to be redone. Plumbing is so expensive.

That all sounds very stressful, makerealbany. Really have to wonder about thes 'professionals' don't you? You only have to watch Fair Go and Target for a wake up call. And then of course thereare doctors, lawyers and accountants! Our non-profit organisation received an INTERIM accountant for over $3000 to get the audit done for our AGM. This is to prepare the accounts initially not the actual audit which could double this amount!!!!! Prepare the accounts????? They did the audit last year and get a cash book and spreadsheet that always balances!!!!!! Whats to prepare? By the time we pay it will be a year's salary for one of our part-time workers down the drain.

OMG grizzly. Look around for another accountant. That is just robbery. Raining still here and we had an awful morning. The dogs chased J and he was so stressed. Unsure what to do but my daughter has said the dogs have to go. Poor J is asleep on her bed. He was all wet and shaking. He was not hurt but I think he gave P a scratch and that set the dog off. J is getting old now and he wont stand for the dogs to be in his space.Not that I blame him but usually they ignore the cats. M was upset and told everyone who would listen when I dropped her at preschool. Told me to punish the dogs by making them stay in their run all day. Poor Sil would have woken up to A,s furious text. My other daughter rang when we were checking J and heard us all frantic. Anyway Bubs is asleep, J is asleep and I am going to make my self a coffee.
