Latest whisper is the possibility of a special stamp issue for Margaret Mahey later this year. Should be popular as her books are so well loved both in NZ and overseas. kiwisteven - 2013-01-11 21:52:00
I have a lot of old stamps 2nd half of 19thC, mostly european... is there much demand for this kind of thing and should I list in small lots according to country and what kinds of prices? Also I have a GB natal postage one penny, cant find a single listing for natal, does this mean its rare? Any advice to get started would be appreciated, cheers bayloft - 2013-01-13 15:10:00

Natal was a colony in Southern Africa and now part of South Africa. Look it up under Natal rather than Great Britain. There is a good demand for 19th century European and especially so for stamps issued before 1880. After then some become very common and a lot was simply packet material sold at 50 different for 1/- etc. kiwisteven - 2013-01-14 17:26:00 |

Was the sheet value for the 1979 14c QE2 overprint corrected from $10.00 to $14.00, assuming there were 100 in the sheet? I have a block of 4 which clearly has 'Value $10.00' still visible. I presume the correct value was further to the left on the sheet. Were all sheets corrected like this? Edited by paulmc at 9:56 pm, Mon 21 Jan paulmc - 2013-01-21 21:55:00

I have come across an 1940 arms overprint 3/6 value. The printed sixpence has been dropped out of the "box" and only half is visible. Is this fairly common with this stamp? alston - 2013-01-28 19:33:00
sorry i started a thread asking this question and then saw this thread.. so will just copy and paste in here if thats ok.... I brought a little bag of stamps from the opp shop last year and have just gone through it and found some really old stamps. one is a NZ stamp that is in real good condition. I cant take a photo as at work. Its red and it says 12th may 1937. it has a very young queen and hubby on it.. on the bottom of the stamp under queen elizabeth it say *Postage &* and then under Philip it say *Revenue*. the cost of the stamp is 1D. Now before i use this stamp in my art and collages is it worth anything? or is it as common as muck? gizmodaisy45 - 2013-01-29 09:27:00
its ok everyone... someone has answered my question... apparently its as common as muck... lol. blow... there goes my dream hol to hawaii flying past... gizmodaisy45 - 2013-01-29 11:57:00
