Was really busy at work today, never seen the mall so busy. Thankfully the snow has almost gone now, did quite a bit of damage in my garden, lost two big branches on my Magnolia tree and one big one from my bottle brush. two trees that K is not allowed to prune, i guess nature did it for him.

That is really nice about L4 and the Butterfly grizzly. M still has 3 chrysalisis on her Yukka plants. She watches them before and after preschool. Lol. We still have caterpillars that are surviving the cold and heaps of Praying Mantis as well. Both mothers were very tired today after their night out and so was J. She loved her first ball.

Weeded the front gardens today and chopped back all the damaged bushes etc closest to the back door and the big rose that was stopping me from getting to the veges. The rest will have to wait till next week. Went shopping for B4's present today and ended up setting up a layby for the main Christmas presents for all 3 boys. Boy, I'm ahead of myself this year. Also bought a digital picture frame for my parents 80th birthdays at the beginning of July. It's going to be fun choosing all the photos for it.

Trying to get organised with sore hands this morning! One hand is actively defying the benefits of moisturising creams and the skin keeps splitting. On the other I have one finger ripped by a rose thorn yesterday in the garden and then I peeled my thumb on that same hand with a palm peeler when I was removing the skin from a pumkin for tea. Sigh. At least it has stopped bleeding this morning. Last night I was going through bandaid after bandaid because they just don't stick. Made knitting difficult too LOL!

Digital Picture frames are really neat grizzly. My son got me one for a birthday one year. Your fingers sound like mine lol. I ripped a nail right down to the quick and used bandaid after bandaid as I kept knocking it. I also peel my skin as well as the veges because I cannot feel it until I have done it. My arthritis can be a bitch but I still knit ha ha. I have a massive bruise on my arm. How did I get it? I have no recollection and No I have not been tippling the wine glass. I guess as one gets older all these funny things happen lol.

Well I spent the whole day cleaning in my cottage, even moved the furniture.!!!! My goodness another 2 bags for the op shop. It was cold here today but I was working hard and did not feel it until I went outside to wash my car. Text smartgirl last night but no reply. Got home at 9 and did not want to ring on the home phone if she was sleeping. Will try again early tonight. I have 4 things to sew up tonight and the ironing to do. Which one will I do first. I cleaned out my warddrobe and put all the summer stuff in the big dresser and voila enough room for all my winter gear. I know doing it a bit late but I have been busy lol. I read this article on thyroid probelms ;last night. Very interesting. My thyroid is fine but if I were a hypocondriac or if I had fallen for the hard sell I have all the symptoms listed ha ha. Anyway Iodine plus is supposed to be the miracle drug.

So do you take it as a preventative? My hands are going from bad to worse. I think there must be a tip of the thorn still in as my finger is really inflmed this morning and hurts more than my thumb. Will have to go digging I guess but it's in such a difficult side of my finger to reach. And NO I'm not letting one else do it. LOL. Our programmes are going on a swimming trip this afternoon and I need to help due to numbers. Quite pleased really as it will be L5's first trip out with us and I would be a nervous nana!

Yes you do. That is the disadvantage of roses,etc. I always end up pulling thorns out as well. Jolly painful too. My darn homeline is playing up yet again so I rang smartgirl from my cell. She is great. We had a lovely chat. Swimming brrrrr. I know it will be heated lol. SIL missed his connecting flight so he will not be home until tonight. Sigh.

It was -3 at 5.30 this morning here too, smartgirl. The condensation on my windows was turning to ice at the bottom. I'm getting used to having use a rubber scraper in the mornings these days. But it's sunny here now with a northeaster predicted so I am risking washing sheets today. And making rhubarb and ginger jam and irish stew in the crock pot for tea.

yes it has been chilly here. I looked after little E last night for the first time we had a ball. Parents kept texting do we need to come home lol. She is breast fed. She was so good. Then this morning I raced up here early as T is working today and tomorrow. Little K does not go to preschool tomorrow so he has already worked out that we are cooking muffins for Mum. Ha ha. I am knitting myself a jersey. Yes. But two of my grandsons want black balaclavas as they are freezing in the mornings at work.Sis a welder and so works in a freezing workshop even though he wears thermals under his overalls he is still cold. C works in a Print warehouse. I even had to hose down the car this morning at 6.

must have got even colder Grizzly, as at 8.30 this morning it was -5, it was like a skating rink going to work, such a heavy frost. I drove up on to the first floor car park and my car lost all traction, luckily no more cars up there. should really have been closed till later when the sun got on it.

For years I got picked for Jury service and everytime I was challenged by the defendants Lawyer and kicked off. I knew I must have mellowed with old age because the last time I was not challenged and I had to approach the Judge and say I was a Women's Refuge Volunteer and ask to be excused. He excused me because it was a very violent assault case. I knew all about it. I have the same dress code grizzly ha ha. I live in merino.

This is the first year I have bought merino tops but I'm afraid they are no competition for Christchurch weather. Today I have 2 merino tops plus a jersey on but probably still spend most of the day in my jacket as well. I vacumned the shop yesterday and actually got warm enough to take my jacket off for awhile. Trouble is when you have a desk job and not moving around so much it's hard to stay warm. The young woman now working for us does mountain climbing in her spare time! Despite my 4 layers she is running aound in short sleeve t-shirts and a beanie!

I have got jury service on the 16th of July, first time, I have always got out of it but have decided to give it a go this time. My dil is a barrister and I know quite a few others so I may not get too far.

My nephew is getting married in Geraldine on Saturday and I have been so busy hadn't organised getting my hair cut or what I am going to wear. Managed to get an appointment at 11am yesterday and rang work to say I would be in after lunch. (Good job, eh?) I ended up waiting an 1 1/4 hours before they washed my hair then I was left sitting another another 25 minutes before cutting and drying it. Finally got to work at 1pm!
Before my appointment I droped into my local Postie Plus store to get another polo neck merino top to be told they've stopped bringing in winter stock now!!!! Good grief we've only just got started.

Talking about winter stock, I am amazed at how often I have seen stock at 50% off even before it started getting cold. It wont be long and we will see summer stock in and by the time it gets closer to summer it wil then be old stock and go on sale. At least we are the winners.

I got some great bargains in merino at the warehouse which included long cardis for half price. They wash so well too. Had a nice quiet day today sewing up a skirt, 2 cardis and a hat and scarf set plus the ends of two other scarves. I am still knitting my sweater but I get bored with the same colour,etc so I do so much and then knit something smaller. lol. My son is now looking for a computer for me. He loves to buy techno stuff so that is good. My car needs the cambelt replaced and it is going to cost $800. Getting it done on monday. So I need to curb my spending for awhile sigh.

Didn't have to go to jury service yesterday, but had to go this morning, got there and got sent home as "trial fell over" i still get paid for 1/2 day though and my car parking money back. Don't have to go again now so a bit of a fizzler really and a waste of time and money.

Had a busy week with grandchildren all over the place it seems. Lol. Little K (3) is asleep in one room, M (4) in another and baby J(19 months) in his parents room. My daughter and SIL have gone away for the night. My eldest daughter has just gone to sleep in my cottage. Thank heavens she did not have to work tonight as she cooked tea for us all. I have the drier going and clothes on the lines inside overnight. It is so peaceful now. Little J was the last one to go to sleep because Aunty T was here he was too excited to go to bed. Had them all at rugby this morning so they all had naps this afternoon. Ha ha. They were so tired after running around all over the fields. Think I will go to bed and read a book. I will be up very early ha ha.

Well J was awake at 5 this morning and no way was I able to convince him into staying in bed. M was up at 5.30 and K at 6 so Nana was cooking Pancakes at 6.30. My daughter ran in at 8. I let her sleep in. 12 hour shifts are taxing. We are all having fun. Bought a lovely pattern on TM for Pull on boots. What a bargain.

We have had a lovely weekend - a rural wedding is quite different! The bride wore riding boots under her white wedding dress, there was a tractor on top of the wedding cake, the wishing well was a milk can and there were small bales of hay as table decorations. They were a hardy bunch as well having the ceremony outside by a small lake with snow on the mountains as a back drop. Thank goodness I wore boots and my fur jacket - not the locals though, strappy sandals and strapless dresses!!!! Had a good time though but an early evening back at our motel as we are both so tired. The views on our drive back today were stunning.

What a lovely wedding grizzly. They bred them tough down there. lol. Got my cambelt done only cost 600. Bonus yah. Water pump was dearer than the cambelt. Figures. Looked after K today and now I am going to relax. Wrenched my shoulder carrying Jon Sat night. Last night I tripped and smashed my middle toe. It feels a lot better today but the nail is ruined. Sigh. No strappy shoes for awhile ha ha. Thank heavens it is winter. My big toe looks okay now.
