Yep, I'll pop along and see if I can find 10 I like. Last time they had that special I made that "tone-on-tone neutral quilt I showed back one page. Worked a treat and made the quilt far more affordable.

Hi ladies, latest quilt I made for my daughter's graduation present. Front and back views. I sent it off to be quilted as shoulder to sore to hold for long periods

Gorgeous quilt vivz2. Where do you send for quilting? And what is average cost? I dislike the quilting part and have often thought I would get someone to do it for me, especially something special.
I bought a four thread overlocker today. Very excited especially as it does gathering. I can feel some new projects coming on ????

Love the orange quilt well done.
Hope you have a lot of fun witht he everlocker barb. I started doing a course for the overlocker but it was far to noisy for me with all the machines going.... drove me mad. well nearly.... didn't go back for day 2. But have all the info for the gathering and elastic etc. If youd like them photo copied I can do that for ya. Have started sorted the xmas mags for you too.
Jugs on for coffee....... come and help yourself.

I love making the quilt tops but as for the quilting. The throat on my bernina is not big enough to put a queen size quilt through. I got my quilt quilted and it cost me $200. I was thrilled with it but can't afford to get every quilt done so I am making smaller ones - knee quilts.

ffloss - 2015-04-24 20:29:00
47310

Oooh yes please Dilli - I would love any info you have on the overlocker. Happy to pay for photocopying and postage ????
Wow ffloss $200 is beyond my means ... I will just keep on doing the bare minimum of quilting. Nothing fancy - just straight lines

Have you thought of quilt as you go ffloss, there are some really good videos on Youtube. I have made several and they look really good when finished as the joining strips look like sashing.

Thanks ladies for the nice compliments. I had it quilted at Krazy Cow in Levin. It was $155 for the quilting and batting/cotton extra extra so all up $188.

Hi franny- yes I am about to start a knee quilt for my grandson doing the quilt as you go method. It's a dinosaur quilt as he is mad about them. A friend of mine makes all her quilts that way and they are lovely.u

Bumping us back up the page. Have had a wee play with over locker .... It certainly makes edges neater.
Yesterday and today I have made been making fruit paste - delicious with strong cheese and crackers. So far have made quince, feijoa and rhubarb paste and they have all turned out great. Bit of a change from sewing

Pretty Carol, I love the motifs. I have had second lot of fabric arrive from e-quilter. Gosh it takes only a week to get here. Much quicker than Craftsy and postage more reasonable too

Quilt looks magnificent Carole.
I have chosen quite a few fabrics from Missouri Star Quilt company ..... Will have to be a bit more selective cause they come to a total of more than $250 NZ. Now to decide which ones I can leave out

barbrose how much is the postage from MSQC to NZ? I bought from fabric online and found it hard with the postage on top. Thanks.

nunesy - 2015-05-03 09:34:00

From memory it was $35 last time nunsey. I share the order with two others so we only have to pay a third postage each. Makes it more affordable.

I know the feeling! I was treated to a day in Amish country several years ago, amazing, why is it the fabrics off shore are so good, although Grandmothers garden near Hamilton takes a lot of beating if you can afford it.
I understood that youshop works as a US address, then they post it on to NZ for what appears to be a reasonable cost. Like you I know I would get carried away, and have yet to try it.

I think I will have to join fabricholic anonymous. Saw a post on the Wanganui buy swap and sell Facebook page that someone was clearing out all their fabrics. For $30 i got some amazing pieces ..... More than 15 and most were at least a metre. One piece has 6 metres and will be a perfect back for a double quilt. I also picked up four lovely sari type fabrics ...... Perfect for the family Indian curry night tomorrow as we have to dress up.

Oh Barb sounds great bargains Hope you have a great time tomorrow. You must have nearly as much as me now. heheheeeee and I am trying to down size. but its all been put on the back burner again after another fall yesterday. cant complain 2 nice st johns ambulance men made up for the discomfort. heheheeeeee..... been resting on me bed all day. darn sore to move or sit. Should be better tomorrow. Jugs on for nice hot night caps. come help yourself.

Dilli I hope you are not too sore after that fall. St Johns are great eh .... Whenever they have come for mum, I have always been impressed by the way they speak to her. Did you get a ride to the hospital?

barbrose - 2015-05-08 23:07:00

Barb, no nothing was broken just re did the damage of the torn tendens I did in Feb. and of course a bruised ego. They took me home with the usual instructions if it gets worse etc call them back and they take me to the hospital. Spent yesterday on me bed resting. but up today. will lie down when it gets really sore again. (I worked in A+E for 25 years + so know the works etc.) Just very stiff and sore that's all. But its put the sewing room sorting on hold for a week or so till I can bend down again.
Jugs on for brekkie, come and keep me company. heheheeee you never know what uniforms will cross my path today eh heheheeee.
