Been stitching today too. Made another zipper pouch and finished a UFO which is now listed for sale. Love making the pouches ... Might make a few more as they will make lovely gifts, especially filled with chocolates or sewing stuff

We must be busy doing stuff away from Internet. I have made 4 more quilted pouches, a little quilted coin pouch with straps and finished two quilts which have been UFOs for years. Feeling very satisfied. Now if my internet provider could just sort my phone problems out and I will be very happy. Had ultra fast installed last Wednesday and the phone hasn't worked since. Driving me batty.

Got back into a project yesterday - started a quilt for my grandson who is 4 in May. It's coming along nicely but I learned a new lesson ..... Don't start cutting out 6 inch squares using the mat as a guide and then change to a 6 inch ruler halfway through. I forgot about the seam allowance on the ruler and didn't discover it until I had done quite a bit of piecing. Rather than unpick and re-cut smaller, I decided to cut new squares. I am sure I will find a use for the smaller ones.
Have a great day

barbrose - 2015-01-28 11:09:00

Sounds like fun barb, you will fin a use for the smaller squares even if it is cushions or pillows to match. Don't forget the photo when you have finished eh.............. Still no rain here, hopeing we will get some that the weather man promised this week. Busy listing my decluttering at the moment, so I can get into the sewing room again. (Can see some of the floor now)..... Have a great week all.

Hi again strangers. It's been ages since I was in here last. I've been busy and find I don't much check TradeMe unless it's to relist something.
I have some UFO's completed over the holidays and did enjoy getting them to the point where I could finish sewing binding etc on by hand while watching such excellent programmes as "Broadchurch". So . . . . I have something to show. First ones are continuing to use Canteen Bandannas, quilted on my home machine. Second one is for a friend's new grandson born early new year. Third one is a fabric panel found in an opshop - sandwiched together with polarfleece in the middle and flannel on the back. I quilted around all the toys etc. This is being bought by a friend for her about to be born Aussie grandchild.

Yduj, check out Bonnie K. Hunter, she has lots of free patterns and is a scrap quilter. I'm going to use a Kaffe Fassett pattern for my recycled shirts. Lots of fun using op shop shirts.
Edited as I forgot to say that I love all you finished projects. Well done.

Awesome work Judy. I don't enjoy the quilting part so tend to do just enough to hold the layers together. I have finished some UFOs too and given them to my daughter to take to the rest home where she works.

I think Carole did very well for her first quilt. It's only by doing that we learn ... The next quilt will much easier.
Shell, I used the Missouri Star quilt pattern. Just go to YouTube and search for zippered pouch, Missouri star. I use lots of her designs and techniques.
Loving the rain and cooler temps. So is my cucumber plant - it's taken a life of its own. Will post pic soon

Glad to hear nothing is broken Dilli. Falls are awful.
So much for me clearing up some UFOs - I have now created two more tops which will sit around unfinished until I find a purpose for them ????. I am trying to use up some of my stash but hardly making any headway. Oh, I have made a pet bed too. Saw a great idea on line about making a large square but leaving one side open, lining a bin or a box and throwing all your little scraps into it. When it's full, sew the top and hey presto you have a pet bed. Doesn't take long to fill. So now I have two bins - one for the tiny unusable bits and another for crumbs which end up in another quilt.

barbrose - 2015-02-05 09:43:00
47193

Ive been saving all my extra small scraps to make draft door stoppers. Never thought to make pet beds the SPCA might like them eh......... so now I know what to do with all my scraps.
