I know you don't do this for the praise but doesn't it feel so good to give these away to a good cause? I know they will be greatly appreciated. Lovely work - such simple design but so effective. yduj - 2014-11-15 10:05:00 |
| I agree with Judy - franny what wonderful work. I also love the designs and colours. barbrose - 2014-11-15 15:35:00 |
| It is very hard to know the right words to say barbrose. I had cancer some years ago and, thankfully, survived. A friend wrote the following on a card and I have never forgotten the words: My dear friend you are in my thoughts. I wish you strength and courage and send my love to you as you deal with each new day. Then she wrote underneath "and besides who else would I drink too much wine with and pour out my troubles to". franny8 - 2014-11-15 16:32:00 |
| Fran the quilts are so lovely thanks for showing them there's alot of work in each of them you certainly are keeping busy. The bag is bigger than I had remembered them being, so much for my memory hehe. coalrange1 - 2014-11-15 21:40:00 |

| Hello everyone. Has anyone watched the Great British Sewing Bee Christmas special? It was on the Living Channel t he weekend so I recorded it and have just finished watching. Freshly inspired again :) barbrose - 2014-11-18 20:31:00 |
| Don't have paid tv here so missed the GBSB and project runway which has also been screened on the pay channels. darn it but hey that's the way the cookie crumbles eh. Pleased you enjoyed it though, would have watched it had it been on the normal channels. dilligaf_dah - 2014-11-18 22:40:00 |

| Hi franny8- I really like your first quilt. Could you please tell me what size your squares are. I have a lot of bits of fabric which would be ideal for a quilt the same as you have made. Cheers. ffloss - 2014-11-19 19:16:00 |

| Oooh - forgot ...... Yesterday I made a baby quilt top using the Jenny Doan technique - no raw seams. It's great. I think I might have cut and sewn my tumblers upside down but it doesn't really matter. barbrose - 2014-11-23 09:41:00 |

| Evening all. Am looking after my grandsons (just turned 11 and almost 7) this week. Actually they are really good boys - very polite and helpful. And f course they are at school during the day. I don't usually get up before 8.30am so it's a bit of a shock to the system having to be up at 7 to get them ready for school. barbrose - 2014-11-25 22:52:00 |

Hi ffloss, sorry just saw your post, don't seem to have much time to get on here much. The blocks were 6" squares finished (so 6½" unfinished) . Don't know if you know how to make easy half square triangles, so just in case, have a look here. You will need to cut your square 3 and 7/8 to give you a finished 3" square. This video mentioned a special tool but I just measure ¼": each side of centre line and sew down that mark. If you have a problem make another post and I will keep checking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIN4IOKGvEo franny8 - 2014-11-26 18:49:00 |
| Oops should have said, whatever finished size you want just add 7/8. i.e. if you want 3" cut 3 and 7/8, if you want 4" cut 4 and 7/8 and so on. Hope I am making sense? franny8 - 2014-11-26 18:51:00 |
| Thanks Franny8 - I make the squares like you with th line down the middle. ffloss - 2014-11-26 19:04:00 |
| Hi ffloss, look forward to seeing a pic. franny8 - 2014-11-27 10:49:00 |

| Did you look at fabric Dilli, I was in Australia in October and when the Aus prices were converted to NZ dollars I thought fabric was more expensive there. franny8 - 2014-12-09 19:26:00 |
| Hi NO didnt even go to the factory outlets shops this time (I have far to much fabric) The warehouse outlets have fabric from 1.00 a metres. most are 2.00 - 2.99 metre. esp the dancing fabric like sequins etc. I have had a look at spotlighte etc over there and the fabric was the same as here. Its the fabric outlets you need to shop at.( I used to bring a pillow case fill with fabric - holds 50 metres - and the check in don't weigh ya piloows hehehehee) But I am not travelling like that anymore. too OOOOlllddd now. heheheheeee.......
