Recipes - Circle of Friends!!!

#Post

I've just spent an hour sewing an apron for a 4 year old - their play centre has themed days, and this Friday it is come as your dream job (for goodness sake!)...(spot the person with no kids heh heh). So this is for the son of my best friend at work - her son wants to go as a chef! She is making a chef's hat tonight, and my apron is funky with pirates and parrots.

OK ... the news is ... I didn't get the supervisors position but do have a job in the customer service/sales team if I want it :) For only $1p/h less and a WHOLE lot less stress - seems like an ok deal to me!
I don't start until 17th Oct so lots of time to go walking, kayaking & boating in the national park until then :D
The other news is I now live in a cabin at the campground for the same price as I was paying in my tent! Nice people here!!! And I can have it until mid Oct so plenty of time to find a real home :)

Winnie,I wanted to be here last night for you,but I was so tired and went to bed real early,am so very happy for you,all will be well, just you wait and see, woohoo.xxxx

Perhaps you could clone that husband and sell him, Cookessentials - he has a very sound approach to birthdays. A preprogrammed husband stand just in front of the Kitchenaid stand. I can't see it happening for my birthday this year but I have hopes of a Kindle though. I'm a recent convert to these, after swearing that I'd never like them as much as "proper book", after using my daughter's recently. Not that they're a substitute for real books, just another really good option.

Yes Cooks he appreciated your personal and fast service..well done you. and in doing so made your day. I also want to do a shout out to a fFrm in Grey Lynn Auckland. My Partner brought me this lovely old Cobblers seat for my Birthday ..we deposited the monies online and four days later ( two of them weekend ) I get a call from trucking firm to say they would be outside my house in the Half an Hour...Couldn't believe it from Auckland To Invers in such a short time. Hadn't even paid the freight There is some great small businesses that really do go out of their way to give us great service.

The weather was postcard perfect Pam ... sunbathing temperatures even!
I've got my job sorted motorbo ... flip back a page here to read about it.
I'm being encouraged to do as many walks, boat & kayaking trips as I can fit in to become familiar with the product. It's a tough job lol!!
It's overcast here today but I'm having a quiet one anyway - just walked to the other end of the village & back - about 2kms I guess ... just enough to stretch my sore muscles without over-taxing them.
Loved the rugby opening ceramony last night - the holiday park owners invited me over to their house to watch ... and the ABs game. Will watch some more tonight.
Have a happy weekend everyone :)

Hi everyone.. and congratulations on your new job Rae.. very cool.. hope you enjoy it.. and have a great time enjoying your surroundings and finding a new home in the time before starting..

I'm away from home for a couple of weeks.. just checking things online and catching up with the thread.. haven't seen many of you posting from Christchurch.. hope all is well for you all there..

We loved the opening ceremony last night too.. amazing effects.. we felt proud to be Kiwi's.. am hoping it'll be re-screened at some stage to see it again..

Good for you Pam - well deserved the bottle was.. he'll probably be shopping in your store again.. great idea to have the list..

How is your househunting going Earthangel? Hope you're finding something that suits your choices..

Take care all.. and keep warm - it's cold out tonight..

Thanks neil_di ... and thanks Pam for the alert.
I had seen that one but as I get less than the asking price to live on until I start work in October it's out of my range.
Something will turn up!
And Motorbo ... there have been over 100 applicants for the 3 other jobs going with my employer so I think you may have better chances in Oz. Good luck!

Morning all... Sunday & I can't sleep in grrrr.....
Having a few health issues with DH at the moment, luckily we have medical insurance so fingers crossed its all sorted tommorrow (was discovered Thursday so lucky to be able to get in so fast) So positive vibes to Mr T tommorrow at 7.30am.
Other than that life is same ol same ol... congratulations on your job Winnie.... a new chapter begins.....and how nice to be back close to your daughter.
Miss 18 and I went shopping yesterday for a few bits & pieces..... We went in to make an appointment with Specsavers.. who could fit us in in a hours time.... so we treated ourselves to a food court lunch and hung out in the sun... just lovely.... Then you have to love specsavers.... My glasses hadn't changed much for distance so I got presciption reading/computer glasses (can't use the cheap warehouse ones as I have an astigmatism) for $99 including test (50% off at the mo) and Miss 18 got 2 new pairs for $199 including eye test (hers had changed and she needs good glasses for study)... $300 for 3 pairs and 2 eye tests..... Wow I am impressed,
I also (see my wok thread) settled on a electric Frypan... it's lovely and was reduced from $155 to $90 at briscoes, I am confident the high sear setting will meet my needs for stir frys and then I can use it for so much else.
So even though i got lots of bargains its certainly cheaper to stay at home... lol.

Have a great Sunday all, I have Miss 17's whole netball team, coach and manager here for a pot luck dinner tonight..... something to keep our minds off tommorrow lol... wish me luck.

EA, hope the test is OK. I am diabetic.

Bit shaky today. 4.5 isn't too bad, except when it's close.

Am madly sorting my house in preparation for the packers. I only have to move for 3 weeks. I don't yet have a date but I have so much craft stuff it's a nightmare. They don't store stuff unless it has an insurable value so some of it will have to go in the garage.

Hi everybody,
best wishes to those with health concerns at the moment ... I hope things get sorted ok.
I'm in Motueka today so making the most of the free internet at the library.
And stocking up on some books. Sitting in my cabin yesterday in the rain I read 2 books & started a third!!! The sun's back out today and if it stays this way I might book another excursion out into the park tomorrow.
They want to get me into a kayak which I haven't done in YEARS!!! But it's just like riding a bike right? You never forget ... I hope! Don't want to make a complete fool of myself lol!
Enjoy your Monday xx

I was given a bbq for Christmas about 4 years ago, and have only just it twice - in the last week. I made cajun fish last week - a huge success, and then last night I tried one of Niki Wicks' World Kitchen chicken recipes (ayam percik), which smelt lovely but was way too sour for me. I don't know if it was the ginger or the tamrind paste?

Anyway, going to try smoking some fish on the bbq next week. Did this on the stove in summer and it was gorgeous but I damaged my ceramic cook top, so the bbq is bound to be safer.

Hi all,
slight change in plans ... my ex needed some parts for his van from Motueka wreckers so I'm delivering them over the hill personally. Will spend the night playing scrabble with Miss 14 before driving back home tomorrow. Hopefully by then this wind will have died down as I'm not going out in a kayak unless the sea looks like a millpond!!!
Nice poem ellie :)
Goodluck with the fish smoking sumstyle ... you could have tried that before I left Chch - I would have happily 'tested' it for you!!
Ea - I'm glad you're doing ok & will get the help you need.
Keep smiling everyone xx

Hello all.. hope you're snug and warm with that snow there Pam.. I talked to an Aunt in Carterton recently - during the snow not long ago, her grand-kids visited and made snow angels and a snowman where the snow covered her lawn! Hope tender spring growth makes it safely through this snow you're having there now..

Maybe winnie could give us an update on charlieb?

And we haven't heard from 2halls on the Cashmere hills for some time either.

I'm fine on the flat. I'm on annual leave net week so I'm hoping to make great strides in the garden so that it prodices the maximum it can this summer. Christchurch is going to have water restrictions so I also have to work out a system for collecting grey water from the washing machine.

My nectarine tree is covered in blossom and hosted plenty of wax eyes yesterday :-)

The North-western ranges of Nelson look beautiful today with a good covering of fresh snow :)
I may have a home!!!!!
Got a call this morning, going back over the hill to see it tomorrow :)
It's a self-contained flat under a retired couple's home in Tapu Bay which is a few bays around from Marahau by Kaiteriteri. Will post more tomorrow night ... I'm excited!
As for news on charlieb - I'll let her know you were asking after her & hopefully she'll pop in with an update. I can assure you she is fine :)
Don't know about 2halls ... will see what I can find out.
Keep warm everyone xx
