I like planting fruit trees and food plants rather than flowers. even use strawberries as ground cover. | 46526 | Wow bhs you have been busy. Gorgeous quilts. I have been working on my black and white with a splash of red and hit a glitch. Now I need to think creatively so that I can continue without unpicking and recutting. It pays to read instructions properly if following a pattern. Instructions said to cut the background blocks 7 1/2 inches square and one central block 13 1/2 inches square which I did. Appliqued all of them and then started joining with sashing. All going very well til I get to the centre block (which should be double the others) and it's too small. Re-read instructions and it says once all applique is done to trim the blocks to 6 1/2 inches ...grrrrrr. I would have cut them that size right from the start if I had realised. I might just put an extra border around the centre block to bring it up to size but will sleep on it first :) barbrose - 2014-02-18 17:10:00 |

Look mainly for fabric, laces, b.binding , elastics etc......... the big rolls of it so I use what I can and sell some so what I use is paid for then. BTW I think the applique block cutting size had that extra for trimming because when you do applique that might cause the original size to pull in a little so you therefore have a bit of leeway for trimming?
