Q and A time again.
We all know or should know the mistakes the printers have made on New Zealand stamps eg 1898 Pictorials ,Wakitipu and the 5d Otira also the 1958 Stars error but there is another this one is the fault of Stamp catalog publishers. .
Clues1.Stanley Gibbons has it right.
2.ACS has it wrong 2012 edition.
3. CP has it wrong in my copy 2006.
4. Era of stamp in between 1915 and 1948

What would a fair reimbursement be for someone to scan and list on this site ?

The lister would be handed the items to scan and list with the provided detail and price.

To simplify, a unit price per listing.

Any comments !

30% after trademe fees-but the lister would need to have the stock on hand(if selling on behalf) mininum say $2.00 maximum say $60.00

Thank you for your off-the-cuff assessment. The percentage also reflected my thoughts.
Off course the lister would need to have the material for processing, suitably someone in my area.
Naturally addisional errands/chores would come into the picture.
However selling on my behalf may need more thought in relation to using the current listing scenario.

I know its early notice but there will be a stamp fair in Timaru in Jnaury as follows; Timaru Philatelic Society FAIR from 10am to 1 pm, 26th January
West End Hall, Maltby Avenue, Timaru. Buy, Sell and Appraise services will be available. its not very often a stamp fair is held in Timaru so this may be a good chance to put it on your calender. I'm taking a table there and i know one of two Christchurch people who will be going down.

Far too many stamps would qualify as ACS and CP are riddled with errors. perhaps you can tell us what sort of an error it is?

Okay here are some.
1925 Dunedin Exhibition should be "New Zealand and south Seas"
1926 Admirals. The 1d is a Field Marshall and not an Admiral.
1960 Westland 3d is a digger, not a miner.

The 1923 Map stamp could perhaps be more correctly called "Restoration of 1d Postage".

1935 Pictorial 2d whare is often and more correctly called a meeting house.

No ,Not only is referred to incorrectly in most catalogues the name of the species is wrong on the stamp.I have often used the name incorrectly myself in the past .

yes Correct if you had answered it correctly the first time you would have won a grand prize but in this case you get something sweet.................bugger all.

rebel58 - 2012-12-08 21:13:00

In that case i shall collect the "sweet....bugger all" at the stamp club meeting this Wednesday evening, 76 Mandeville st. riccarton.

Put them up for auction and I will place my starter bid of $5.00

Hey rebel, at the risk of peeing on your penny parade, if there's a 1909 with an S mint mark, that'd be worth listing on its own. Any San Fran coin 1916 or earlier is worth selling on its own. If there's a 1909 AND it has the initials VDB on the back at the bottom, take some bloody good pix!

We have twelve sellers at the last Christchurch Stamp & Postcard Fair for 2012. Two are from out of town, includes one from Dunedin. Great chance to come along and grab a bargain.

In fact I will take it a bit further ,the only thing I like about modern stamps is that you don't even have to lick the bloody things ,give the person who created self adhesive stamps a medal.

Better make that a self adhesive medal because they (the stamps) will not be around before too long ☺ ☺

Post ugly printed labels or internet issued barcoded slips to stick onto sendings in time dont you mean ? ;-)

With an encoded strip there will then be absolutely no excuse for anything geting lost or misplaced, since post should be able to track everything 100% ;-)

however that leaves us all with collecting bits of dating history if all were replaced by new fandangled dull barcode jobs ;-)

Hi- if someone knows this guy- can they please let him know that this is not a original letter, (but a faux copy)and that there are plenty of them out there-inc one in my collection--I did not want to spoil his listing (543737715 )

I have put a question on this lot stating that the signature is printed. I have handled perhaps 50 of these and while nice its quite common. We should always spoil any listing when its obviously stating wrong facts which might lead to fool somebody. An educated market is good for us all. I have no hesitation in raining on his parade as anybody with a magnifying glass can ttell the signature is printed.

I'm fairly sure they were sent out by Shell to their customers and by the Ross Sea Committee to VIP's around the country. All the envelopes containing these have addresses that have been typed. I have one in my hands now sent to the Secretary of Buller County Offices in Westport. They were not a fund raising scheme but more of a thank you publicity gift.
