hi everyone:)
long time i havent been in here
started back at work on saturday so for the month of january im working every sat and sunday :)
really enjoyed going back was tired the first day just rested up to fully charge my batteries :)
not doing anything specail for new years have my grandies coming for the night :)
hope theres something desent on tv tonight it hasnt been very good most nights

Fireworks have started here ..... Might still be awake at midnight but am in bed with the two cats and dog. Well, the dog is on the floor but we are all in the room together lol.

I spent most of the day sorting out the craft room. Tidied cupboards and found things I had completely forgotten about. Discovered five quilt tops that need finishing and four projects I had started and then put aside as they were being made purely for fun, and something more important needed doing first. I now have a big box of fabrics to cut into various sizes .... None of them are big enough to use except as scraps so I will cut them into strips of varying widths - probably 2 1/2 in, 4 1/2 in and 5 1/2 in

I've used polar fleece for the back and a batik sarong for the front (photo yet to come)

It was so easy and although they don't seem to do anything other than stitch around the 'border' I am going to practice stippling on it as I've never tried free motion quilting.

Well im doing some crochet today after a lovely visit from wee and her family !! Was nice to catch up again.
Been crazy weather here to. Had to get my machine out and take in some shorts for my boy as they too big for him.
I hope this year will be a happy one and hope to get some of L's issues sorted.

Stippling - I CAN DO IT! I had a wee practice and away I went. I am most surprised that I can do it. I've quilted about a quarter of it and had to keep remembering to lower my shoulders and relax. It's all good and I'm happy with my first effort ever. I've taken photos but not uploaded yet.

I do realise that this is not actually enjoying the great outdoors and the break that I have from being at work but also it has been absolutely lovely to just sew whenever the urge takes me. Often, I find that I'm never ready when the weekend comes around as there's always chores, supermarketing etc. and by the end of the weekend I always wish there were more days left to sew.

So, loving the sewing and the relaxing time.

Thanks for cuppa Dilli, good timing as always I just did a bit more painting hmm think ive got a bit carried away now as started in another room oops hehe.
Joy I haven't made a raggie for a while now but I have to make a baby one before Feb. I really do like the raggies they are fun to make and once sewn together and snipped are finished unlike the other quilts that seem to take forever.
Ooooh Shell how exciting having Wee visit, I haven't met Wee ....yet...one day ...and you too ....one day .... :)

Morning all ... Sitting outside under a tree having a cuppa. Mum has gone to the movies wth my daughter and her children - a Disney cartoon called Frozen- so hope she is enjoying herself. Meanwhile, I have rearranged some furniture - wonder if mum will notice. Have four grandie's comng this afternoon. Two eldest, 14 and 12 will stay the night but they can help amuse the 2 year old and 9 month old while they are here. No sewing today.
Yesterday I tidied up all my messy scraps by cutting them into usable pieces. The crumb basket got a huge top up too. I wonder how many quilts are in there? I have enough crumb blocks made already for four quilts.

Yay! We are back home again! Travel is not fun with 2 kids that get carsick. I have spent the week of holiday with knitting needles in hand so am looking forward to getting behind the sewing machine again. It was lovely to catch up with Shell and her boy again in Nelson:o)

I have just finished sewing some tuck in bits on L's new waterproof sheets for his bed. I needed to be able to tuck them in and can now !!
