Faremile what a shame you have to sell. But list away and I am sure there will be plenty of buyers. I personally would look at cottons for quilting and any laces, depending on what they are barbrose - 2013-11-18 23:39:00

Hellooooo in here. I haven't posted anything for ages but I still read this thread regularly. I see all the same people with a few new ones tagging along. Remember ages ago I said I was going to make a "Bookshelf" quilt for my sister's 60th. And I posted a pic ages ago also. Well, as she lives in Northland and we won't get to be with her on her actual birthday when we attended our niece's wedding this weekend my other sister and I surprised her with early gifts and a birthday cake. A resounding success - I loved making that quilt and my sis loved receiving it. Edited by yduj at 4:38 pm, Sun 24 Nov yduj - 2013-11-24 16:37:00
Hi all ...I've just walked away from the sewing room .....I think I may have overdosed and now I need a change of scenery .... Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day barbrose - 2013-11-24 16:37:00
Wow yduj ..... That's perfect for my book loving grandie who gets a quilt for her 12th birthday in March. I have just been googling for patterns for a book theme. Do you have a pattern or instructions? It's awesome! barbrose - 2013-11-24 16:40:00
Gorgeous quilt yduj, well done and oh so nice that your sister loved it too. skippie1 - 2013-11-24 17:42:00

I forgot to mention she is a Librarian by trade and now owns a second hand book shop in Waipapa (out of Kerikeri) - hence the bookshelf theme Edited by yduj at 7:48 pm, Sun 24 Nov yduj - 2013-11-24 19:48:00 |

Well I've been absent for a while...but watch out you lot...I'm back! Didn't Arnold Lotsamuscle say that once? I have been pretty idle on the shed front of late...but all that is about to change. Well, that's the plan Stan...and no...I don't have Stan here! Love the photo of you grand daughter with her quilt bar...she looks delighted. It's raining here today which is great because the plants are going to suck up the moisture. I reckon rain water does so much more for the garden than the hose of an evening. Have a great day. I'm working at the op shop today so no doubt I'll come home with stuff... jumbobon - 2013-11-26 07:55:00

dna - when I had to do eyes on an appliqued animal, I used shiny thread. I combined black with a bit of gold and it looked amazing. barbrose - 2013-11-26 11:09:00
Now, I have a question too but it has nothing to do with crafts or sewing...... I have to arrange the gift giving at my red hat chapter's Christmas lunch next week. Everyone takes a small gift and these are distributed at random and hopefully no one gets their own one back. In the past we have played various passing games but they get difficult as people don;t always listen to the instructions. Last year, I created little puzzles out of Christmas cards - one piece was stuck to a gift and the matching piece given to someone. But that got tricky too because not everyone turned up with a gift and I was left with some pieces which weren't matched. So I am just looking for some new ideas which are fun but not too complicated. I could just issue numbers when people arrive and then draw out of a hat and have them choose a parcel. That would be simple ...but not very entertaining :) So all suggestions welcome barbrose - 2013-11-26 11:14:00
Ooh...ooooh...we have a fabulous game on Christmas night. All the gifts are put into a box...or whatever...they don't need to be hidden. Then someone...maybe the oldest? gets to choose a gift from the box. She opens it and everyone admires it and puts it in front of her so that everyone can see it...then it's the next persons turn. BUT she can either choose another gift from the box or take the gift that the first person got. You cannot take your own gift back straight away...there has to be at least one other person to have a turn first. Obviously, if the first persons gift is pinched she has no option but to take another gift from the box to keep the game going. The next person now has a choice of three...either take one of the others' gifts or a new one from the box. The more the merrier...sometimes the pinching from each other goes for ages. Just need to remember that you can't pinch something from the person who took it from you in the turn before...there has to be that gap. It's a full on fun game that causes lots of laughs and is not over until the last gift is taken from the jumbobon - 2013-11-26 14:05:00
