Don't you dare talk like that seagull! We want to see everything. I show my stuff from time to time and it is nowhere near the standard of others, but do I give a toss? Hell no! Just do what you do and show us. Comparisons are not made...
Here endeth the lesson.

Well said Jumbo, hope you read this Seagull. If comparisons were made my pics would be disappearing too hehe :) I love seeing what everyone is making its encouraging and inspiring.
Seagull how did the sock quilt comp go has it finished, can we see pic ?
I thought it was Wednesday today just found out it isn't LOL

Juju that block is gorgeous.
I am having trouble settling into sewing at the moment .... Too many ideas and not enough time. I really want to start a new project but have to finish a quilt for November birthday and then the Christmas quilts all need backing and finishing. Work keeps interrupting my creativity :(
It's got a bit chilly ... Have lit the fire today. Didn't bother for the last three nights.

GO Jumbo!!! Well said! Now Seagull, its all about sharing... nobody is judging... everyone in here is very giving... giving of encouragement, inspiration and even advice (altho they may not always realise that LOL). Oh yes, I've been waiting to see the sock quilt too Coalie, thanks for the reminder... I'm very curious, never seen or heard of one before!
Been a beautiful day doon here... Sassy and I took went for a wee hoon down country and had fish and chips on a river bank... no wind, and mild... even managed a wee wander along the river bank.

And you are probably missing your mum as well bar. Things are never quite settled when someone is missing. I am seeing the nurse on Monday. She wants to monitor my weight loss. I am really happy about that...although she said there will be times when she is not my favourite nurse. I'll make it fair for her. There will be times when I won't be the ideal patient too. Because of my lack of height, my rotund waistline and my weight I am currently classified as obese. O. B. E. S . E! I hope I can change that within a year! Will you still be my friend?!!

Jumbo, I see that the biggest problem you have is your height, if you were taller all would be fine ... maybe we could s-t-r-e-t-c-h you or get you some high heels ;)

Here here im in agreeance with all above...the jury has spoken! WE ALL SHARE our projects...tis SOOOOOOOOOOOOO inspiring!
Obese jumbo...never...I can see from here you only take up a wee part of a line, only eight spaces to be exact lol...we loves ya ♥

Thanks for all the kind words on my first block. It is nice to boost my confidence. The photo doesn't show it that clearly, as the points etc don't match up but I don't care. I made it myself and thats what counts. I have asked on an auction of a large seller re a 1/4 inch foot for my machine but haven't received a reply. doesn't matter as I will mark the seam until I get the hang of it.. Oh and Happy birthday Mutley. i don't know you but hope you have a great day.

What a pain juju! Try asking on one of this sellers listings, I've always found her very helpful...

Another suggestion is to place a wee chunk of post it notes in front of the feed dogs to guide your fabric thru. Post its are good as they are all stuck together and provide a little height to keep your fabric on track. You may mind that even with a 1/4" foot, it may still not be accurate unless you can shift the needle position? My old Pfaff couldn't, so even with the foot it still took some fiddling to get an accurate seam. Just have to find a way that works for you and your machine :-) Fun tho!

Anybody got a large patterned fabric they don't want to cut too small? Or want a large block (18") to make up a fast quilt? Check out this...

Cutting instructions are included on the videos... plus a 9" version too

Thanks lviolets for your hints. I have just received a reply from the trader sewshop who made an auction for me for a 1/4 inch foot that should fit my machine. Yay. Is just under $50 but hopefully it will help. Now for it to arrive by Saturday so I can try it on Sunday after I wake up from nightshift. Thanks again.

juju40 is that the foot the guy in franklin is sell for $50 I have 2 of them can give you 1 free if you like

Heh... The sock quilt was a disaster.

Lesson learnt: Thread from a dollar-shop may not be usable.

I was molting socks while snapping the photo for the compitition. Judging is still occuring, so cannot share the picture yet... and I intend to get better thread and re-sew the sock-quilt.

Mostly because I want to practice with the sewing machine a wee bit more before I start on my first proper quilt.

Hi girls long time since I been on here. Have shifted house now I was sick of the bogan neighbours and my son being picked on all the time. We are in a much nicer neighbourhood and closer to the school. We also have much bigger yard for L to play in and of course the dog to run around. Havent done any sewing for a while as my machine was packed and still is, haven't quite got sewing area organized yet. Been doing my crochet tho, have completed L's blanket and started 2 more...am addicted to it..
Hope you are well, better think about some tea for me and the boy..

Gidday Shell, the new place sounds great, L will enjoy the space and the peace. Crochet is addictive, our #1 daughter is making blanket after blanket and no sign of ever stopping haha. Glad to see you back :) can we see pics ?

Yeehah! Shell is back. Good to see you shell and great to hear things are looking up for you.
I still haven't been in my shed. One of the twins has been home with a cold so he has been keeping me company. We did get some fabric wrapped in rusted objects today and have put them in plastic bags under the water tank for a few days. It'll be exciting to rinse them out and see what magic has happened. The fabric was soaked in a 50 50 mix of white vinegar and water before being introduced to the rusty stuff. I have high hopes of some lovely things happening.
Tea is still cooking because people came in this evening so it will be a late meal for us.
Having fun?

Right?!

Hope Muttley had a good day!

Morning all. Carolev, I well remember those foggy Waikato mornings as I lived in Hamilton for 16 years. Don't get them much in Wanganui.
Had a splurge party with my girls last night and went to a restaurant for dessert platter. I will post before and after photos. Cost $40 for the five of us and it was delicious.
