Well I've been thoroughly spoiled, feel like I've been eating all day and now I'm ready for my bed! Only got one side of the quilt binding left to sew but it aint happening tonight... unfortunately. I'm making a halo to wear. There is this nurse at the doctors who I have had little to do with up until now...she found out that I had been neglecting to have my smears done. She is like a Rottweiler. She rang me when I had shingles and warned me that she had me in her sights. Today was the day. So now I am up to date and feeling pious! However it appears that diabetes might be taking a turn with me...no surprises really because my Mum had it and one of my sisters has it too...but oh deary me...all of my teeth are sweet ones. She has made an appointment for the quack with a follow up with her to discuss management for next week. I think exercise and diet are going to be top of my list...shucks! I feel fine though...so maybe that's not quite right.
Anyway I got a nice new book written by Hilary Beattie in the post today...all about designing your own fabrics and papers with stamps, stencils, paints and dyes. It is a no nonsense book and I can see I am going to enjoy going through the lessons page by page. I found a shop that sells second hand fabric today...and I spent $28 ! Lots of beautiful vintage stuff that I will have to think about using. So all my town chores are done...bills paid and banking organised...and now I am waiting for a colleague to come with her two girls. She is a Mum in her late thirties who left Christchurch after the quakes to make a new life here...and something about her stuck with me. I am not doing any more relieving and so I'm giving all my kids books away...and she is coming to get some this afternoon. She works really hard at raising her girls and struggles financially so I am giving her some art supplies too...and a sewing machine. I am really excited about it. I remember when people were kind to my Mum after Dad died in 1957 and feel privileged to pass some kindness on. I have so much stuff...

When we lost everything in a house fire the bernina shop lent me a machine till I could afford to buy one. It was the best ever help given to me then.

Moooorning! Did you hear that? I hope so because it was really really loud! What a thick blanket of fog we have this morning...I am so hopeful that when it lifts it will reveal a bright sunshiny day. Hopefully I'll get out to my shed for some of it...

Carole, clown pants they will be fun to make, I made hubby a clown outfit once, the pants were really long cause he wore stilts under them.

Carole I made clown pants once...I threaded that stretchy curtain wire around the top in a casing like you would do with elastic, screwed a hook in one end and the eye in the other then joined it up squeezing the hook together...it held the shape nicely...I clipped suspenders on pants to hold them up too...good luck.

Well tomorrow we are off to Wellington for a couple of days. Muttley has meetings to go to and I am going to stay in the girls' house where muttley will join us on Friday night! We will be back home on Saturday. My youngest GS is going to feed my mates cats while I am away so everything is hunky dory.
It's been as cold as ice here today...the wind has been cruel and biting. I did get the lawns done because there is rain forecast for the next few days. They were up to my knees...well, maybe a slight exaggeration but only slight!
Right. I must get on with getting ready to go away. No doubt our boys will want to stay at our place while we are gone. It's good if they do and good if they don't...
I've done nothing more than clean my shed up and my fingers are itching to get into my needles and threads.

Have spent the last week and this week at home running round getting the pension all fixed up Ofcourse it had to be mine they stuffed up. Hopefully it is all sorted now.

Gidday from wellingtown! Tis so noice to be with my girls who both took the afternoon off to be with me...aren't they gorgeous! I'm not doing any shopping at all down here though. Don't need nuffink. I had a haircut the other day too Dilli and it is really short. I've only had one pension payment so far and it was just what they told me it would be...lucky me.
