Gidday Twi, cold here now and raining quite heavy it just started.
Nope Vi didn't pick any violets today, but I did notice that theres enough to pick again so will think of you when I do hehe :) I picked the flowers today that are in the jug by the cake, I don't know what they are they are ground hugging and grow under a tree, they suffered badly when we had the big tree chop and suddenly the whole garden got sun that it hadn't seen for years. It will be good to go back fresh to do the binding, that's what I do wrong I don't have breaks I always want it finished and I tend to rush :(

Thanks for the hot water Carole...I have added my own bits and pieces to it along with some toast and chicken left over from dinner last night. Yum! Sunny here again...so those shingles will no doubt benefit some more!
Love the look of the cake coalie...but alas and alack...if I bake I eat and when I eat cake I really really enjoy it...ans so I have another piece...and before I know it I can't fit through the door to get to my shed. So I'll enjoy a virtual slice instead. Just the one. But a big one!
Have a great day all.

I'm running over to the nearest op shop at lunchtime...

It's for an "international scavenger hunt". I have to provide a pic of myself in a quilt made from old socks by Monday morning. It's going to be hidious!

It's also stopping me from getting started with the fabric right in front of me. /whines into her coffee

DNA - I'm just going to buy a hoop and do it by hand... and $400? Ouch!

seagull33 - 2013-08-14 18:33:00

DNA and Seagull if you do decide to hand quilt using a hoop - make sure you buy a solid hoop, not a flimsy embroidery hoop which is not strong enough.

Well...here beginneth the lesson from jumbo.
Google is your friend. Ask Mr Googlepops any question and he will give you choices of answers...and his younger cousin Mr YouTube has a battery of responses too. I usually scroll through quite a few responses before I find one that suits me just so...so don't rush but take your time.
Quilting hoops are much deeper than embroidery hoops. Embroidery hoops only have to hold thin fabric and stabiliser in place whereas quilting hoops have to be robust enough to support two fabric and a batting thickness. Spotlight should have a variety of cutters, rulers and mats. I suggest buying the best cutter and mat that you can afford because they will do an awful lot of work for you. Dont go too small with the blade...is it 45 mm...is a good size. Rulers? Well I have a variety of sizes and use them depending on what I am making. The one I probably use the most is my 12 x 6 inch one.
But first go to Mr Googlepops and see what others think.
Fabric is an addiction. Muttley can do a wonderful rendition of women and fabric. He first of all strokes it and smiles at it before carefully unfolding and smelling it. The faraway rapturous look on his face makes me think he really does want some of his own. Then he refold s it and adds it to the pile of already inspected fabrics, securing it on the very top with a gentle pat before he goes onto the next new piece. Of course he exaggerates?

jumbobon - 2013-08-14 22:10:00
44894

well done Jumbo you explained things well
haha at Muttley hahaha love it :) definitely an exaggeration lol :))
