Coalie...was today your birthday? Or tomorrow? Fess up or else!
I have quilted and quilted today. I'm about three quarters of the way through so should finish tomorrow. Then of course the binding...ooh what a bind. And a couple of finishing touches to this one...it will be called Chester.
Night night. Sleep tight....after all those potions some sure will! Mind the fleas don't bite.

Dilli I will have a bit of your potion I think
Happy birthday all those who have aged another year this week ....
Just popping in briefly .... Dad is still with us and he is still telling stories and singing songs. That morphine is amazing stuff....
Today we recited a few nonsense poems and songs that he used to sing to us when we were children. He is in his own little world but every now and then he pops into ours and makes a comment which actually fits the conversation. We have seen him laugh and smile .... And realised that since his stroke 10 years ago, we haven't seen that side of him. My girls tell me that they will treasure these days ... Some very precious moments.
Thanks for the hugs .... Not sure when I will be back. My son and family arrive tomorrow and my brothers on Monday and Tuesday. It will be good to share the load with them. I just hope they also get to share some of the special time as well.

Hello on this freezing cold day...with a bitter wind blowing in from the snow! Time for a steaming hot cuppa to wrap our hands around and some nice hot buttery toast I think. All are welcome.
Oh bar...it sounds as though your intense pain is made a little bearable by the antics of your young in mind Dad. How bitter sweet is that? Bless him and you and yours.
I am feeling much more content about my animals today. With the cold weather warning I shifted about 22 bales of hay from one shed to another yesterday afternoon so that they could snuggle under more cover...and they sure did! They did have cover of course...but the rain yesterday was horizontal and cold and heading right into their shelter. I slept really well last night knowing they were snug and warm.
Have a great day and keep warm!

Payday tomorrow...

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=615260599 ...so what colours would go with this?

seagull33 - 2013-07-16 10:37:00
44283

Well seagull...I am into bright colours so for me it would be burnt orange, lime green and something neutral as well...either a beige or a pale grey. But that is only me...others will have their own opinion so you may get as many ideas as there are people who respond! Just go with your gut...and remember that colours never show exactly how they actually are when viewed on a computer. Good luck!

jumbobon - 2013-07-16 11:12:00
44284

Hi hi...very chilly in the south today...I have Anzac biscuits in the oven as we speak...so come for afty tea if ya wish.
so thought I would make a light raggy blanket for mister 1...using wincyette ...should I putt batting in the middle? probly but advice taken please?
Hi Seagull...very hedghoggy fabric...cool...I would pick up on the colours in the fabric already...green and orange/brown...but try different colours beside it something brighter may compliment it as well...enjoy choosing...what you making with it?

grizzvk - 2013-07-16 11:49:00
44285

Maybe Autumny colours would work... Was thinking maybe a "strip quilt" with a wide hedgehog border?

seagull33 - 2013-07-16 12:00:00
44286

Hi seagull I would go with the burnt orange, lime green as well but I would also wait till you get the fabric buying on line the colours tonings can be different than that of the photo I have fallen for that many times.
Thanks coalie my daughter is looking for a windows 7 computer for me. so it should not be too long. When I get back from my holiday I hope.
Chancing a coffee now fingers crossed it had better be ok I am craving for a coffeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeee

coalrange1 - 2013-07-16 13:37:00
44289

Hey coaly what did you make your raggy quilt out of? did you putt batting in middle?

grizzvk - 2013-07-16 14:00:00
44290

some I put batting in and some I didn't, they rag better if there is a layer of flannelette / winceyette in. some are 2 layers of fabric with no batting some 3 and then there are some with 2 and batting and 3 and batting just depends how warm you want it. sorry just read your earlier message ok so its really up to you wether you put batting hehe sorry that really wasn't much help was it oopsie

coalrange1 - 2013-07-16 14:15:00
44291

Yep it was thanks...using winceyette back to back...as its only for a light napping blanket wasn't sure wether to bat it or not...just wasn't sure how cosy it would wash up like with 2 layers...hmm got some thinking to do lol...thanks tho.

grizzvk - 2013-07-16 14:43:00
44292

Oh Coalie, not Blossom! So sorry to hear. Hows wee China coping without her best buddy?

Lots of quilting been going on too... ooooh lovely quilts all!!! I've just come up for air, my dresden top is complete now the fun really begins! Heres a wee progress pic...

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/275637424.jpg
Really pleased with it... even more pleased that the leaves are all on... I think I have well and truly earned my hand needle turned applique 101 badge!!! Yes in a moment of madness I made the decision to hand stitch everything on!!! Will I do that again... maybe not LOL!
Next step is quilting... can't do Cindys ESS tho coz every seam is covered in applique so I think I will do around the edge of all the flowers and the leaves for starters... so sort of ESS'd? Any other ideas please?

I agree... autumn and bright greens but you could throw in a blue or 2 as well. Depends how safe you want to play and what you're going to do. *whispers* have you visited Thumpacats web place? Same price for that fabric but she doesn't charge postage... so that would be a couple of bucks towards another bit of fabric ;-) More fabric is GOOD!!!!
