MrT should be seeing a dr annually at least Carole, especially for things that show very few symptoms like postrate cancer etc.

morning :) Hope your MrT is coming right carole. Jubre, the ravelry website is very good with lotssss of ideas! Once you go in there, you're hooked lol. Popeye, I love your blanket, looks terrific!

Last day of term for the kids today, they are getting pretty excited about the Easter Bunny. The older kids have been very careful around the littlies with what they say!

I've finished the wee cardy (about time too lol) and will buy some buttons on the way home. Went through my button jar and none match. For a 12 month old, it looks quite big - hmmm... maybe I should have done a tension patch. Oh well, sooner or later it will fit her.

Happy knitting :)

Very wet and windy here too, what a difference from last week when the weather was just fabulous. Have to go to the doc today for my 'flu jab and a vitamin B injection - blood tests show I'm low on B12 which they say accounts for why I'm so tired. Monday and Tuesday I slept all evening in the chair, out like a light straight after tea, and still slept all night too. Mind you I think a lot of that is stress. I will take my knitting as they always make you wait to see if you have a reaction to the 'flu jab.

Typical that you don't have the right buttons kiwimade, I never seem to no matter how many buttons I have or what colour or size I need, they just aren't in the thousands of buttons in my jars.

I guess I will have to do some housework today followed by some knitting which I will do while I sit and keep Mr K company and try somehow to cheer him up a bit. He's depressed enough as it is without looking out the window at the miserable weather.

Herald hasn't arrived yet - it's late so he doesn't have a crossword to do yet.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning everyone..

NOOOOOOOOO Kuaka that's definatly NOT going to happen lol Its a one off.

Wild and wooly here too. Still too warm tho.
MrP is dressed to go out, but it wouldn't surprise me if he changes his mind.
Ohh don't you hate that re the buttons.. I decided last night Id look for some for the wee jumper, before we go out. Incase I have to go to the oppy. I only need two. So cross all the fingers.

Have a good last day Kiwimade. I always enjoyed school but the first and last days were always the best, not cos there was little work done, just cos they were different to the rest of the year.

Bobcat is sitting here telling me how its too grotty to be outside so I need lots of loves instead. lol.

Try and stay dry everyone. Happy Knitting

the blanket is really a monumental effort Popeye - will keep you warm I'm sure.
Hope all the Misters are improving and behaving themselves again.
Enjoy the holidays Kiwimade ready for more work next term (well can wish some towards you anyway!)

Into knitting socks again, I seem to have a period of doing one sort of thing then onto another - as long as the hands are kept busy is the main thing. Have also been using up scraps on crochet beanies, not very keen on doing crochet but it certainly is a lot faster than knitting so will use if for little things like baby beanies.

Happy Easter everyone. Stay safe on the roads if you are travelling this weekend.

I knitted a little baby top yesterday, the patterns says it takes 42g of wool (DK) so I thought I would get two out of the 100g ball, but obviously not all double knits are created equal as this one took 52g so now I have 48g left - I suppose I'll have to make a beanie instead of a second top. It's quite pretty yarn, it's Panda Sweet Baby but it seems quite thick for 8 ply, although that's what it says it is.

I might get all energetic today and wash the floors, I vacuumed the carpets yesterday and put clean sheets on the bed, but I don't plan on doing too much today, go for a walk with Mr K later, and I might just start tidying up the small bedroom, ready for when his family comes to visit in July (it might take me that long to get it tidy!!!)

Happy knitting everyone.

morning ladies :) We had an awesome storm late last night/early this morning. The lightening was amazing and the thunder shook the house. The Furry One went all brave on us and kept barking at the thunder. So it was a pretty restless night for all of us.

Housework today, I don't know how a home can become so messy when there are only the two of us lol.... it's mainly vacuuming up the dead flies - ickkk!!! The flies are driving us nuts!

Then some crochet (didn't get any buttons yesterday, too busy in town) or maybe cross stitch. Lawns need mowing, shrubs and rose need moving but oh well... it can wait for another day.

Happy knitting :)

My lawns need mowing too kiwimade but it's too wet (that's my excuse anyway).

I've just had an email from Deramore's - 30% off some items for their Easter sale. Will I resist - I don't think so. I just might be tempted this time.

kuaka - 2014-04-18 08:31:00
4370

Morning everyone. Fine and sunny here. Warm too.

Our lawns need doing too. Due on Monday so it will happen when the guys turn up.
Lol at the furry one being big and brave. Good on him.

I saw the email too. I was planning on doing an order, cos I had a 15% off code, cos they missed me. Ill use the 30% if I can lol.

I looked through all my patterns last night and nothing inspired me. but I think its cushion covers I want to do. I have patterns on the comp so might have to write one out.
So instead I sat there with my stitch bible thingee and wrote down the stitches Id like to learn. I did Blackberry stitch last night. turns out cool. I like that.
So I think it will be a cushion cover next on my list.

Stay safe on the roads if anyone is going out. Don't eat too many easter eggs. I haven't brought any, and this is the first time in 33 years lol that I haven't had any.
Happy Knitting or stitching

Morning all
Feeling soooo self righteous as did lawns on Thursday before the wet really arrived!

Still have time to get Easter eggs Popeye and they taste just as good after easter, I got some yesterday and I often get a couple of packets as they come on special after easter - my weakness is marshmallow ones which I know are not everyone's favorites so lucky for me lol.

Starting to paint ceiling in lounge/dining area, striped paper off a while back and waiting for new fire to go in on Tuesday - was meant to be last monday but too wet. Could be several weeks/ months before finished but not worried about time frames luckily. Had 4 year old visit who looked at my very patchy walls and solemnly said "you're not very good at painting are you!" oh the honesty of little ones - the walls have to be skim plastered before I can actually paint them.

Went to Skeinz yesterday and brought more naked yarn so once weather a little more reliable will dye it still have plenty of wool to go on with.

Happy knitty day to all

Well I damaged the credit card with Deramores. But Ill consider it my Birthday present anyway. lol. got a nice deep purple maroon colour, with a shimmer in it. Will make another frilled jacket..

Had a phonecall this morning from Hannah. Nearly 6, my sils grand daughter. Big thank you's for the Doll. She loves her. Talked to her grandmother cos the boys were playing operation.. SIL asked if I could do some more clothes, which I said yes to. Then the phone rings again, Aunty Su can you make my dolly some Jammies please... I couldn't say no to that.
Good timing cos I didn't know what I wanted to knit lol.

Yes "may" see if there are any easter eggs left. but Im don't care if I get any or not lol. Might be bad luck not to buy one lol

popeye333 - 2014-04-18 12:27:00
4373

Bad luck not to buy an Easter Egg???? Is that why we never have any luck - 'cos I never ever buy them. Oh well, I had better change that and get myself one next time I go shopping.

I'm still pondering on the Deramore's 30% off sale, as I really really want to do a 10 stitch zigzag blanket to use as a cover on our bed, but it's king-size and I just don't know if I can handle it, also I would hate to make it long enough and then not have enough yarn to make it wide enough, whereas if you do just the normal 10 stitch (the boring one) you can just stop when you run out of yarn and if it's not quite big enough, well that's too bad, or you could do a border around it.

Decisions, decisions.

kuaka - 2014-04-18 15:25:00
4374

I like the look of the zig zag 10 stitch. I might try a cushion cover at some stage first.
Yeah Im telling myself it might be bad luck not to buy an easter egg lol.. Ive been buying them for 33 years, maybe I shouldn't break the habit lol.

Have just finished the skirt of a pinafore. Will have that finished tonight. I think Ill make them up as I get them knitted. So I don't end up with a pile of pieces to sew.

Just buy Heaps of yarn Kuaka lol, will you do it multi-coloured or just a few set colours.?

My blanket covers the top of my queen bed just. But its also double thickness. It took 2 kilos. Check with Armin and see how much she used for her 10 stitch and what size it is too. And hers and mine were both garter stitch which I think uses more too

Ive ordered some pretty colours. Cant wait for the parcel to arrive next week or maybe the week after depending on the couriers.

Making hamburgers for tea, haven't had them in a while

popeye333 - 2014-04-18 15:47:00
4375

Gawd, typed up a couple of paragraphs and "boof" it just disappeared!

We're having fish & chips for tea, home made but only Sealord frozen fish sadly, I wish we were having fresh snapper that we had caught, but not to be at the moment. Fingers crossed.

The yarn I'm looking at is multi-coloured acrylic and just over $4 for 100gm, but I'm thinking it will have a mottled look rather than the gradual shading which Frankie has with the yarn she used for her 10 stitch zig zag which is Rico Poems - not sure if that's in the sale, haven't looked yet. I could get 25 balls of the one I'm looking at but that's an awful lot of yarn if it doesn't have the effect I'm after. What a dilemma. I shall study the site carefully before making a decision.

Meantime, I've crocheted three baby beanies this afternoon, and finally found some buttons for the little baby top I knitted. I think it took me almost as long to find two matching buttons as it did to knit the whole flipping top, and even then I'm not all that impressed with them.

Putting my feet up for half an hour with a glass of vino before I cook tea.

Enjoy your evening.

I have done a fair bit of knitting today but am now tired and sitting watching the Beatles Tribute on One.
So many memories for this teenager from the 60's. Groups like them made 16/17 yr old girls feel treasured and invincible. Some of us got a little burnt but we survived.

morning ladies! I missed that tribute GMS - would have been great to see it without adverts too.

Had a phone call from our daughter, our wee grandy is up on her knees so it won't be long before she is crawling. Our daughter can't believe how fast time has gone lol but us Mums know time seems to fly by when you have a family! Now MrK is thinking door barriers and we are looking at our home with 'new eyes'.

Going to buy buttons this morning and crochet or cross stitch. It is raining so hard the garden can wait. But, I keep thinking it is perfect weather to move those plants lol.... Oh well, I have the school holidays to get outside jobs done.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-04-19 07:37:00

Weak sun here but it has rained in the night so the lawns are too wet again (phew!) - trouble is it's only a reprieve and they just keep growing making the job even worse when I do get to do it. There must be something said for apartment living.

I've just bitten the bullet and ordered $100 worth of yarn from Deramore's - it's acrylic, and I bought all the same so if it's not enough for my blanket I'll eat my hat (well I would if I had one) 25 balls, and if I end up not doing it or I do it and don't like it, I can always give it to my son.

Happy knitting and don't eat all those Easter eggs at once. Stay safe on the roads.

Morning everyone... another gloomy looking day weatherwise. I don't mind tho.. bring on winter.
One thing Kuaka you wont get the wool any cheaper than through Deramores.
God those Canadian sellers must think Kiwis are Nuts to want to pay that much for their stuff. Bet they don't get many sales. us crafters aint stupid.

Have to pop up to the supermarket this morning. but will take a wee detour to see if the mushrooms are still where we saw them on Thursday. Even if we can just get two that's enough for him to fry in butter and have on toast.

Used to have a friend in Taranaki who would arrive with banana boxes full. Those were the days

I did the pinafore yesterday and started a glow in the dark green scarf while watching Coro. I was going to watch the tribute but figured I wouldn't be able to Not sing. And MrP was sleeping, so not a good look.

Have a good day everyone

Day started out looking very promising but cloud getting thicker so certainly not stable weather yet.

Started cardy for niece last night but not very enthusiastic about it so may start another pair of socks as well so have a bit of variety on the go again.

I went to sew up my latest project before doing bands and neck and can't find my favourite needle any where.
My son and family have gone away for 12 days on a holiday all around the North Island. I will surely miss them. I am going to feed the chooks and cat, so am hoping the weather is kind to me.

*carole* we all get hurt sometimes, that is the price we pay for loving and caring.

4385

arrgg how frustrating GMS - I have favourite needles too lol. Have worn all the silver off them but still won't part with them.

Another wet afternoon so I've been stitching. Am determined to get this cross stitch finished. I crochet or knit in the evenings as it is easier on my eyes. Am about half way through a crocheted throw for son, had a few wonderful distractions with our family here and work but now everything is back to so-called normal.

Happy knitting :)

Look what the Furry One did. Luckily?! I hadn't washed the floor at the time. He cornered a mouse behind the wall unit and tried to tunnel under the vinyl. MrK says he can patch it (assuming we can match the vinyl) but I'm still talking to the insurance company Tuesday morning.

Morning everyone.
What do you mean he Let you knit in the lounge. No one would tell me where I could knit or not. If MrP tried to tell me where I could knit he would be wearing the needle. Ohh that raised my hackles then.

Cloudy out but we are going to go out and weed the front garden, just pulling kikuyu grass out, leaving it on the lawn for the lawnboys to pick up with the mower. And deadhead the roses.
Did anyone see the roses on Country calendar last night, they were beautiful.
Did two scarves yesterday. But the bright orange is like a birdsnest on the inside. And I always work from the inside of the ball. So Ill get my winder out today and deal with it.
Have to list some of my knitting today, so that will happen after lunch.

Have a good day all, Happy knitting

lol popeye, it crossed my mind too. Will let the insurance company decide (trying to remember our policy excess :S ). When our paddock sells, we have renovation plans for the house so the vinyl will have to be changed (along with the carpet, wallpaper, curtains etc) so we aren't too upset by it. Not a lot you can do anyway, what's done is done. He's very good at following the 'leave' command and hasn't touched it since.

kiwimade64 - 2014-04-20 09:06:00
4395

Well I couldn't have been more wrong when I said it looked like being a lovely day, we drove to the waterfront so we could go for our walk (there's a big hill between us and the waterfront and Mr K can't handle it) and we no sooner parked than we had a shower, so we waited for that to go over, and then another, and then we went for our walk. Only got about 100metres along the road and it started to rain, and by the time we got back to our vehicle it was raining quite heavily. We waited and waited but the rain persisted, so eventually we came home.

It rained right through till about 4pm. After lunch I decided to go and have a hit around on the snooker table, something I haven't done for about 18 months or so. Felt a bit awkward as I couldn't seem to get my stance quite right, nor my head in the right position (I've stiffened up through lack of play) but I did manage to pot a few good balls, and only "went in off" once - that's when you pot the white ball which is a no-no. Mr K came down to watch and he potted a couple of balls too which amazed me. Not sure if it was good for him to even try, but I plan to start practising more often.

Back to the knitting. Enjoy your evening.

morning ladies :) Omgg lol, I haven't played pool for years and years! I used to kick my MrKs butt lol. Although I did wonder if he let me win :P.

I'm going to brave the great outdoors today and make a start on my winter clean up. Not all that much to do as I've been keeping up with weeding etc but I have a rose and a yesterday-today-tomorrow to move, some hyacinth bulbs to plant and a wee freesia cutting is also ready for planting out into a pot. Another rose needs tying up as it was battered by the wind. If the weather can stay calm, I can get most of it done this morning and craft this afternoon. Lawns are so wet, I'm going to leave them a few days.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone. Its about 11 years since I played pool too.. Used to love it. The senior citz hall had their own table. And you only had to be 55 to join so we were members before we moved.

I got my wool rewound. And have knitted to the armholes on a jacket. My sil wants it longer and I asked her to measure how long, before Id read the pattern. she will have to measure again from the armholes down lol. So the back and fronts are on a spare needle. Waiting to know how long. Did a sleeve so will do the other today. They took the kids away for the weekend, so Ill try calling tomorrow.
Im over this weekend. I know it shouldn't feel any different to any other since I don't work, but it just feels different lol.
I need a day out but wont go till I have my pressie card. Will stock the freezer up with it. Sad I know lol... I could spend it on wool but I love filling the freezer too lol.
And have got the Deramores order to arrive. The one on back order is the 10 balls for another jacket for me lol. Typical. Once Ive done the dolls clothes hopefully I can start that.

Have an awesome day. Happy stitching
