Thanks for brekkie ... Am still in bed so its much appreciated.
Floss, you are right ...one is a disappearing nine patch. And the other ones are postcard and crumb. The disappearing nine patch works better when you keep the colours consistent, but I wanted a scrappy look. You won't see it in the photo but I did make the inner square in each 9 patch block with the same fabric.
As well as those three tops, I also have three others waiting for backing, and two others being pieced. There is no hope for me I am afraid.

Bar, YUK to having so much backing to do with the quilts eek that's a huge job :(

he will probably still be working 7 days a week then.
whew im having a break, Blossom and China are snoozing on the verandah they've been there all day .... boring aye hehe

Skippie, I have thought about getting a long arm stitcher but space and money (lack of both) makes it a bit of an unfulfilled dream. I do the minimum quilting but would love to have a quilt done properly one day. I don't use three layers in my quilts ... I use polar fleece only. So that makes it a bit easier.

barbrose - 2013-06-16 18:33:00
43761

Bar...is it tricky using polar fleece? I imagine it would be a bit stretchy.
Have been out with muttley today. I sat in the car while he took his neck to see the quack. Yes...it is official. Muttley is a pain in the neck! He is not allowed back to work until Wednesday and I will be his taxi driver until then.
Wet enough at your place?

jumbobon - 2013-06-16 18:48:00
43762

Some polar fleeces can be a bit stretchy but I don't usually have any problems with using them. Have made them this way for years.

Hello hello hello. Good to see you here Holly, so great to hear that your sister has already bought a house. Bet you can't wait for her to come up now. So no pressure, but two quilt tops. Will she continue with her Long arm business up your way?
Has rained here ALL day, have cat prints all very the floor in the house.-:((. Gosh they make a mess when it's wet.
Bar I haven't used fleece yet as a backing, my daughter has and it is nice and cuddly for the children.
I have lived in my room today, trying to tidy "again" and get some order, but got side tracked and been busy stitching again for a client. This time it's a jelly roll race quilt with lovely big flowers appliquéd on top. Looking great. Better go and have some T and a coffee.

Morning all - oooh its nearly lunch time :)
Am at work but its so quiet I thought I would pop in and see what is happening.
Skippie, I like the idea of putting something on the jelly roll race quilt. I have two of these tops made up but I dont like the way the different fabrics have grouped themselves ... doing some applique work on top would change the overall effect I think. I know that there has to be some double up rows of the same fabrics but would prefer these ones not to be so bold. So thank you ....

Lunch time
Hot pumkin soup is for the offering today with nice hot cheese scones to go with it. Plenty for all.
Have a great arvo.

43779

yay perfect timing Dilli thanks :)
quilt is in the washing machine sooo now all I have to do is get it dry and I can stop hiding it and feeling bad LOL sheesh good thing im not hiding 'Stan' here ! hahaha
Bar maybe you could cut the quilt up at different angles and sew it back together that would make it different again ? maybe.
better go eat the soup .....

I like your idea too coalie...even if bar was to cut it into biggish squares a d sew them back up alternating the direction of the stripes. Sashing too? So many possibilities....
Have a great afternoon!

Thanks Skippie - it looks lovely. I feel freshly inspired now and will have to go and have a "play" ... I don't think I could fit another new idea in my head without it exploding.... could be messy!

barbrose - 2013-06-17 13:20:00
43786

Haha Bar, dont explode its kinda messy, just play with the ideas you have. I know that sometimes with to many ideas you get so muddled and not achieve anything.

Okay all those hogging sun shine, feel free to share with us doon south. I was wishing that the rain would stop but now I'm not so sure with all the snow thats gonna follow! Night all... sweet dreams... I let you sleep on this morning, don't be surprised if you're woken early tomorrow... will just be me thumping about ;-)

43792

Ooh vi...I'm sorry but I think today we have sunshine and 19 degrees. It's not my fault...honestly...even though we are both on the east coast! Hunker down, hottie under your jumper, hot chocolate in a tall mug, fabric galore and your sewing machine and you will survive. The last bit should be sung in a loud ,open mouthed sort of a way, with a backing band and a trio of crooning, slinky black dressed women.
I'm awake but not up. Breakfast stuff is on the bench. Help yourselves! Have a great day!

Weeeel after all the rain our road was flooded and flowing like a river (nothing new) but i still managed a 4wd trip down the road lol ...today i have SUNSHINE ☼☼☼ and washing on the line...will go down and check the letterbox later but I expect the flow has subsided by now...our road was being closed yest and as I drove around it the look on the mens faces was like...is she mad...cant she see its flooded lol...I was quietly confident with many years 4wdg behind me and the road had a stable bottom lol .

Morning all:o). Thought I better pop my head in and say hi! I have finally got to the end of working 5 evenings a week for the past 6 weeks and am catching up on my sleep and beginning to feel human again. I have been out and bought new gumboots this morning after having soggy feet wading out to the wood shed the past 2 days. Now I am preparing for the snow that is forecast and getting extra food in as the kids probably wont have school if the weather is as bad as predicted. No sewing been done here, mainly knitting:o)

Have a good day everyone.

I managed to stay in bed most of the night... thought it was too miserable a night to wake you all up... Sassy was most impressed too LOL. Yay its stopped raining here too and altho the sun was out it was a pretty jolly brief appearance! Tis a bit on the nippy side too! Oh Jumbo... 19 degrees... thats a distant memory doon here, apart from in front of the heater! Sounds like heaven to me!

OMG Grizz I can just see you out cruisin in your 4WD... I'd be PMSL... you're such a tiny thing! Imagine if those guys had needed YOUR help LOL!

Oh Skippie, thanks for showing us that quilt... what a neat idea to dress up a jelly roll quilt! Love it!

Eyes are dilated and a bit blurry from eye drops at mo, wonder if I can sew by touch? Its just hand sewing circles on circles for my flowers... seems a shame not to make the most of the peace and quiet while Sas is round with the grandparents. Oooooh loooook.... the sun has come out again... sun glasses back on! Is that quilt dry enough to take pics of yet Coalie??? Happy sewing all!
