Oh coallie, another sewing day for you. Clouds are lifting here, we had rain overnight. Mind you. I am still sitting in bed checking my mail and cruising the Internet, so it might be cold out there, just don't know it yet.

Good morning, another half a week of work done:o) Been pouring with rain here today, a perfect day for crafting. I hope to finish a scarf and start a stripey slouch hat for missy. I should really make a hat for Mr 13 who decided to cut his own hair to the scalp in patches over his head. He is now sporting a number 1 cut all over and it really does not look good on a 11 degree day lol!

Evening all .... I didn't wake up till almost 10am this morning ... So I have been chasing myself all day. Managed to get a couple of hours sewing this afternoon but am now about to start dinner preparations. My tummy is rumbling ....

Gosh Bar 10 am, tis good you were able to and got over tripping around the country :)

coalrange1 - 2013-04-20 20:20:00

I got some done too! I am making houses from scraps and it is fun. I wanted all the skies to be blue...but I used lots of different blues in each block and thought it looked a bit busy. I have put the wonky borders on about 12 of them and now I think they look okay...so I will finish 49 of the buggers!
It's been cool enough to use the heat pump today. One good side of that is that our little black cat is getting more cuddly. Lucky me!

And DD and SIL got a rescue dog today. Benji is a three year old Pomeranian and is very cute!
How is wee boy's head? Freezing cold? Missy could let him borrow one of her gorgeous hats that have been made for her...

Rise and shine everyone ....someone has to shine as the sun is still sleeping and the sky is crying. I didn't want to be awake yet .....but the jug has boiled and there is fresh coffee in the percolator. Leftover hot cross buns from Easter are warming slowly in the oven. Enough for all. Help yourselves.

barbrose - 2013-04-21 07:52:00
42615

Thank you! I loooove hot cross buns...you'd best hurry or there will be none left! What's on the agenda today then? Church for some of you...family and friends for some and stitching for some. Maybe all three for the lucky ones! Me? Not sure yet. Stitching for a while though...
Enjoy the rain...

skippie1 - 2013-04-21 12:37:00
42625

I have chocolate! Dairy milk, Black Forest and mouth popping stuff in the other one. That's what fell into our trolley when the grandies and I went sh sh shopping on Friday night!
I have just had a call to remind me that I am going to a show this afternoon. One of the boys asked us to go and see him in a kids theatre group playing Alice in wonderland. He is a tree and two other costume changes that he couldn't remember...so I am off soon. I have made but not framed ten more houses this morning. I dunno why it takes builders so long...

Lovely bag Holly, great for carting project when travelling. Is there a possibility that I could borrow that pattern.-:)) pretty please. Come on Holly how much wool did you buy.
Still very grey and softly raining here. Trying to get some order in my room while listening to Music and seeing ideas to make. Must tidy must tidy must tidy my room, I keep telling myself.

Wow that's a great bag Holly, lots of treasures will fit in there on shopping excursions. I got a 1/2 made bag at the op shop the other day with a pattern. its got a lot of room in too. will make it one day.
sunny with blue sky here now after a day of rain.

coalrange1 - 2013-04-21 17:13:00

Geez Holly, you can stash a lot of wool in that bag when it is wide open! It looks great, something a bit different from usual bag patterns. Can you tell me what the pattern is called so I can try and locate it?
Does anyone spin here, as in spinning wool and not being dizzy?? I am on a real wool kick at the moment and wonder how hard it is to learn, especially being a lefty and totally unco-ordinated.
I hope all the moving is done Coalie, I hope you didn't have to do it in the rain, it has hardly stopped here today.
Sorry no choc here to share, I need every bit of it that I have stashed away to cope with wet school holidays.

Wee, I still have a wheel, did a lot of spinning and weaving, it's not difficult to learn, very relaxing, unless you start setting yourself goals as how much you can spin in one night. If you do start spinning, borrow a wheel from someone, my favourite is a Majacraft with a double foot peddle.Had a Ashford before that but found that I couldn't spin fast enough on that. Also the bobbins from the Majacraft wheels are bigger, so less stop and starts.

Gidday you fullas. The show was great and our boy was perfect...and soooo proud to see us all. Four of us went and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Got caught up talking shop afterwards though and have only just got home
Holly...that bag is superb! Only 13 balls of wool? How very restrained!
Might get more stitching done tonight. You?

So who watched X Factor and cried when Stan Walker sang with that gorgeous girl? I did. Thanks for the tips about the spinning wheel Skippie, I hadn't heard of the Majacraft wheel before you mentioned it. Congrats on your daughter and boyfriend buying their own home Coalie, that is such a part of the kiwi dream to own your own place.

Hello again. Good luck with spinning wee. I'll put a fly in the ointment now! I find an ash ford fine for me. I don't do a lot of spinning now but used to and had no hassles...but then skippie is a speed whizz! I have been out in my shed. I wanted to put the borders on the ten houses...if you google Bonnie Hunter free patterns there are a heap of them with great instructions. I'm doing the happy scrappy houses. She did neutral skies but I wanted them blue. They are a bit busy but I think they will be fine when all of them are done. Here's mine so far.

I have been cutting 6 inch square from my 2nd hand shirts, lots more to do, will be an early ish night for me, was kinda early this AM before I got to sleep. Sweet dream for those hitting the sack already.

cool houses jumbo, much cheaper than buying a real house aye Coalie:o)
Which Ashford spinning wheel do you have Jumbo? They are more commonly sold on trademe than the majacraft ones.
Bed for me. goodnight all

Good morning merry raindrops...the sunshine has wented! Breakfast all ready so you'd best be quick before it is all scoffed up.
Wee, I had both an upright and traditional. The upright is really good for travelling with as it fits in the car with ease. The traditional now resides in Wellington. Spinning is great. Once you get the rhythm going it is really relaxing. Muttley said he found the whirr soothing...and all the kids learned to use it. Our son was really good at it. I remember sitting in the playpen with my wheel. I could get some wool spun and could still be with the kids while they played around me. I never liked caging them! Have a great day...

Good morning all, thank you Jumbo I'll be round any minute or brekkie. Stay dry every one, heard that there is a lot more rain on the way for some areas of NZ. Nelson seems to have been drenched overnight with more then 100 ml..
Shell hope you are OK.
Have all a great day.

Good morning.
Awesome bag Holly and those houses look very cheerful Jumbo.
I managed to start my third Christmas quilt top yesterday. Another crumb one. Still have to assemble the first crumb one but I have 12 large squares already to go. My jelly strip top is ready for borders now.
Started to make feijoa paste last night but it has not been successful :( thankfully I have a friend who keeps me well supplied with the fruit. Will try again tonight. Working till after 7pm today so have just put a casserole in crockpot. Had better go get dressed, etc ....meant to be at work by 9am ....might be a bit late today
