| Certainly was quieter! I had 3 wee nana naps during the day and still slept like a log last night. B3 was lovely, and we all had a great day, even went to Northlands Masll for a while Christmas shopping. I don't have much to do in that department now which is great now that both our pays are in the same fortnight. Christmas is going to swing round pretty fast from now on, I reckon. grizzly4 - 2011-11-06 09:44:00 |
| Hi girls, well my boy got away to the states at 9am yesterday and arrived 3 flights later in Chicago about 2 hours ago. I was pretty uneasy till I had word he had arrived safely. I had visions of him being turned around and not allowed in the county for some silly reason. What a drama at smartgirl - 2011-11-06 15:26:00 |
| Then the dragon came up to us and told us we should be in the main one which was still down at arrivals. I put my foot down and said I was not moving. Finally we got him checked in for all his flights. The lady said she had been working there for 6 months and she had never seen so many people. They would be lucky to get checked in for their flights. smartgirl - 2011-11-06 15:28:00 |
| OMG what a saga smartgirl and a worry as well. Went to the change of Command of the Wing. I was so proud as they listed all my son's achievements, etc. Had no idea what was going on when they led us to the front seats and there was the whole wing standing on Parade. Then this car is driven up, saluting etc is going on all over the place and my boy steps out of the car. It was obvious that he is respected and well liked. He is a brilliant speaker as well. Ha ha. Even if I do say so myself. Had a lovely afternoon tea with the Wing. I said to him after if that is low key give me plenty of warning for anything else. I managed to look as a Wing Commander's Mother should in the time I had. Ha ha. Lousy day here raining so I visited my daughter at the beach. Hopefully my computer will be online tomorrow. makerealbany - 2011-11-06 19:47:00 |
| How wonderful to be a part of all that pomp and ceremony, makerealbany! You must have been very proud. grizzly4 - 2011-11-07 06:53:00 |
| Check out the message 'Hello Knitters' there is a link for graphs knitted pictures for kids jerseys. I've printed off heaps this morning. Now to find the time to knit them! grizzly4 - 2011-11-07 06:54:00 |
| Well it seems my computer needs a lot more work than we thought. Bugger it. I may have to buy a new one. I really am peeved but I am mulling it over. I am lost without my computer. Funny day here but I am feeling bushed so it is early to bed for me. makerealbany - 2011-11-07 18:26:00 |
| Finally Hewlett Packard 's technician is arriving at 10 this morning to replace my harddrive and not with the same sort that is in my computer at the moment. I absolutely hate computer problems so all my sympathies, makerealbany. I realy want to list more wool this week so it will be great to be up and running properly. grizzly4 - 2011-11-08 06:29:00 |
| Yes I actually really was going to start listing stuff when this happened. Still sorting prices and options at the moment. makerealbany - 2011-11-08 16:58:00 |
| Finally sorted, but all this has meant we have hadto use up another copy of our Microsoft Office and Nortons. Makes me angry that neither HP or Noel Leemings acknowledge these costs! Not that I have a lot of time to load auctions this morning. Have a 12 hour day today. Groan. At least it's a short week this week down here. grizzly4 - 2011-11-09 06:38:00 |
| Gosh I was tired last night, only got a fe rows of knitting done by the time I got home at nearly 9! Had a great morning with the Woman's Group at the A&P Show in the morning but I was very cold unfortunately but at least it didn't rain. Starting a bit later this morning so going to list some more wool I think. Darn computer is not allowing me use the email addresses on auction sites saying default mail client is not installed correctly. Any ideas? grizzly4 - 2011-11-10 07:01:00 |
| sounds like your email isnt installed correctly and set as default, can you send normal emails and reply to normal emails? suzy59nz - 2011-11-10 13:12:00 |
| maybe Grizzly you need to ring steve!!!!!!!!!!!!! he'll sort it . Smartgirl, i have you on my watch list for your Bootleg kids pattern, another one to add to my collection lol. suzy59nz - 2011-11-10 13:20:00 |
| Yes I can send and reply normally. It's the email links on TM auctions that are the problem. Which Steve? You mean brother-in-law? grizzly4 - 2011-11-10 20:59:00 |
| I am up at the beach for the night, Driving down to see Mum for the weekend tomorrow, I just had my car in on Monday to get a cv boot done and now the exhaust has a small hole in it and it sounds like my grandson,s car!!!! I could just scream. Maybe I will, That feels better lol. My SIL says it will be okay to drive to Rotorua and back, I will have to get it fixed when I get back. Had a hell of a week and just need a break. Mum and I are going to be doing Taniko, Although we have an AGM for some of our land on Sat morn. Also one of our Volunteers is in hospital so we will scoot up the hill to see her for a short visit. I luv this laptop of my daughters. It has a great screen and large keyboard. Have to ask her what it costs. She and her Hubby have taken little K to a Wedding which is tomorrow up North, My granddaughter and I have been eating strawberries and choc dip. Yummy after our Pizza tea.Hope it is a nice day tomorrow. Don't like driving distances in the rain. Have a good weekend girls. makerealbany - 2011-11-10 23:13:00 |
| We are certainly having a run of things going wrong, you and I, makerealbany! grizzly4 - 2011-11-11 10:16:00 |
| Was a holiday here yesterday and so windy outside. Went out for a coffee and then came back to watch DVDs. Nice lazy day. Picked up some lovely hostas for the garden from TM. grizzly4 - 2011-11-12 09:34:00 |

| Cost me $964 for a WOF on Thursday, two new tyers and the two front shocks had gone, bugger. Not surprised about the shocks mind with the roads here. but ouch! suzy59nz - 2011-11-12 19:18:00 |
| JUst got back from having tea out with family for my birthday. Great fun and daughter and DIL behaved themselves considering they aren't getting on too well at present. One wedding following too closely on the heels of the other unfortunately. I have been so spoilt! More pukekos to add to the collection haha. grizzly4 - 2011-11-12 20:14:00 |
| I am redesigning a part of our garden and can't believe the plants that are availasble on TM for great prices here in ChCh. Most are from red zoned properties which is very sad. There are some beautiful gardens over in those suburbs, must be heartbreaking for those gardeners. I'm definitely keen to rehome some of them. grizzly4 - 2011-11-13 09:52:00 |
| Query for Grizzly4 - I read you post the other day regarding being unable to use the email links on TM. I won 2 auctions yesterday and when I went to email the sellers, found that the same thing is happening to me. Did you get a resolution to your problem? if so, can you help me please? Diane tinybaldone - 2011-11-13 10:14:00 |
| Hi tinybaldone, Have you changed something on your computer, too? We are trying to reach my brother-in-law to get this sorted. I am too nervous to touch the default settings on our computer in case I wreck the whole thing. Likewise if you find a solution, let me know too otherwise to in touch on here and I will keep you posted. grizzly4 - 2011-11-14 06:30:00 |
| Spent yesterday, picking up lots of new plants. Heehee. Then creating the first stage of the new part of the garden out the back. Have now decided to use the stones from an area that was covered with them to save money and put that area back to lawn which will increase our outdoor living area and play space. The lady that used to live here put lots of land into bark or stones for easy care but finding we are having to keep paying out for weed killer as everything is self sowing. I don't like all the neighbourhood cats (and mine) using the bark as a toilet either. Bark only keeps its colour for a year then mulchs down anyway . Heres to real gardens. So far I have planted day lilies, nerines, aquilegia and have 4 varities of hostas and some dahlias to go in. Picked up some hedging plants for the front as well to get rid of the very old trailing rosemary. 2 old, woody hebes out the front are going as well and being replaced by rose flowering carpets. (Red and white). Each step of our plan is probably a weekend of work so will take a while unfortunately. I can see the finished look in my head and want it done NOW! Haha. But I love having projects as well. grizzly4 - 2011-11-14 06:44:00 |
| Hi Grizzly - Just checked our laptop and it's fine re TM emails, so think that it's something to do with the updates on our main computer - both Mozilla and Thunderbird updated last week. Hubby's going to have a look this afternoon and see if he can figure out what is going on. Will keep you posted. tinybaldone - 2011-11-14 11:57:00 |
| We've had nothing but problems with Marac since we bought the new car!!! They've now taken over $300 out of our account and I think it's for the contract thats been cancelled because of the number of mistakes in it. Grrrr! The worst thing is finding this out so early in the morning and having to wait till people get to work to sort it out! grizzly4 - 2011-11-15 07:00:00 |
| Computer update - finally got TM emails to work! Hubby spent all afternoon yesterday trying everything he could think of to no avail. Son who is staying with us at the moment had a look, pressed a few buttons (or so it seemed), and now things are OK. He tried to explain it to me, but I certainly don't feel confident enough to try and tell you what to do. I'd probably only make things worse! He did seem to think that the updates had caused the problem. tinybaldone - 2011-11-15 09:18:00 |
| Hi grizzly. Had a great weekend away with Mum and my sister. We had to attend a meeting but had great fun weaving and telling stories for the rest of the weekend. I attended two meetings for you know who and drove back last night after the terrible downpour of rain and hail. I have never seen such large hail stones. The mountain looked really pretty afterwards until the hailstones melted and all the water poured down the hills and across the roads. That was really scary I had to back the car up several times and drove on the wrong side of the road for awhile. Got home at 11 last night. makerealbany - 2011-11-15 21:26:00 |
| OMG a very belated Happy Birthday Grizzly. Just been reading the posts. My Sil has lent me his old Laptop as he has a new one and at lest I can now access the net. lol.i have to put my car back into the garage tomorrow to fix the hole in the exhaust and am still undecided about the new computer. I wish money grew on trees. makerealbany - 2011-11-15 21:33:00 |
| Agreed! Gardening is getting expensive! Haha. Mind you doesn't help when companies I am dealing with don't give me the right infortmation and now I can add Tower to my hit list. I knew I would have to pay a 2 month amount when we amended the car insurance but the amount they have taken out is twice that again! Where do these people get off? The highlight of a dreadful day yesterday was my daughter bringing me a crayfish for my tea. One of her property owners gave it to her and she can't stand them. Yum, yum, just what I needed and I didn't need to share with I. either as he doesn't like them. And no calories! grizzly4 - 2011-11-16 06:53:00 |
| Wow I have just typed a whole message and it just got deleted!!! I can't be bothered redoing it all so the summary is all the drama with finance companies and car dealers has been sorted. THank goodness. No good will left now though. grizzly4 - 2011-11-17 07:03:00 |
| Darn finance companies!!!!! I am having a really busy time again. My daughter has hurt her back and the poor thing cannot even pick up the baby. I am doing Taniko tonight and watching the X Factor, Day off tomorrow. Yippee. makerealbany - 2011-11-17 20:29:00 |
| Planning a gardening weekend if weather holds out. Was at Mitre 10 by 8.30 this morning buying more vege plants for glasshouse and slug slam. Great way to start the day! grizzly4 - 2011-11-18 20:16:00 |
| This darn laptop deleted my message. Stupid thing. I want to repot some plants but need to buy the potting soil. My girl up at the beach has just had a lovely big deck built at the back of their house and down one side. It looks fantastic. They have a roof over part of it. Great outdoor living as well as a huge trellis down one end to block the neighbours view. lol.Now she needs to re oil her outdoor table and chairs that have been boxed for the 5 or so years that she has been back in NZ. My great grandson and his Dad are up for the weekend as well so it is busy, busy. makerealbany - 2011-11-19 00:12:00 |
| That deck sounds lovely! And I know how you feel about the messages being deleted. I had a lovely day with B3 today and his mum (my daughter) till 10 minutes before he left he emptied half a litre of liquid laundry detergent and half a 1 litre of laundry powder over the floor and into my washing machine. What a mess and a #*%# waste! Luckily his Mum took him home before I strangled him. Little ratbag thought he'd help do the washing! grizzly4 - 2011-11-19 19:06:00 |
| Had to laugh at the image grizzly. Been there done that. Laundry powder is not cheap either. Got up early to the shops to do the weekly mission for groceries, came home unloaded and then went up to the beach with M and had lunch on the deck. Lovely. When the two little boys went down for their nap we left and went to the library. After that it was the park right next door to the Library. Miss 3 nearly 4 went on the flying fox all by herself. She has got so independent. She told me to just let her go. I did gulping air very fast. Her parents arrived just as she was getting on for another go. She really gave her father a shock. Then she zooms down the big slide and scampers up it like a little monkey. After the park we went to the Warehouse to get our potting soil and plants. I got Tui potting soil. Have not used it before but heard it was good. J who is 8 arrived for a sleepover tonight and miss M wasn't about to let him have all the fun after her great day with me so both little angels are fast asleep in the cottage with me. It is a full house here tonight. Lol. Managed to do a bit of my taniko tonight. My daughter, granddaughter and I are off to the movies tomorrow night. Guess what we are going to see Cannot even find the question mark on this laptop. Worn off. Lol makerealbany - 2011-11-19 23:19:00 |
| got my tickets for Breaking Dawn, if you are anything like me thats what you are going to see, really looking forward to it . suzy59nz - 2011-11-20 19:22:00 |
| LUcky people. It has had such good reviews although my daughter was disappointed it has crammed so much into the first movie. Not much left of the book for the 2nd movie apparently. Looking forward to hearing your reviews. I will wait for the DVD to come out. grizzly4 - 2011-11-20 19:50:00 |
| It is very wet down here this morning. Great for the garden not so much for truck driver husbands. One of the draw backs of going back to trucking unfortunately and he must be absolutely b#*@^ed after all his efforts in the garden yesterday. I am pleasantkly surprised this morning to find nothing hurts including the sunburn. It's a miracle! And I'm loving looking out the front window at the neat line of wee hedge plants. grizzly4 - 2011-11-21 07:17:00 |
| i was working all day yesterday so din't even know the sun was shining, bugger. In regards to Breaking dawn, the first movie finishes only halfway through the book, they have the big bust up with the voltari and Bella of course saves the day, so still a lot to go. suzy59nz - 2011-11-21 13:05:00 |
| Ok Fantastic movie, bring on the DVD lol , maybe i will have to go again. If anyone goes you have to sit through the first credits as there is more to the movie. Also Bruno Mars sings his song over the main credits and it is a great song. Looking forward to part 2 now. suzy59nz - 2011-11-21 21:30:00 |
| Just bought the ferns I need for the new garden! Thats the last I need and have to do more work before I can get the topsoil for the new lawn. It seems I'm even going to be able to get that on TM. Yahoo. grizzly4 - 2011-11-22 06:42:00 |
| I really enjoyed Breaking Dawn as well suzy although my daughter and niece said it was a bit slow at first. Lol. This internet connection keeps going off. We have a builder in the house and one of the phone lines was broken again. Honestly it drives me nuts. I have never ever known anyone to have so much trouble with the phone lines. Talk about gremlins. makerealbany - 2011-11-22 18:57:00 |
| Time for a check in to see what we are all working on, I think. (In the spirit of why Zoe set up this thread in the first place). I am currently knitting dolls clothes for our next stall on 12 Dec, crocheting a blanket to use up the odd balls of wool I have lying around, and occassionally working on a lovely cross stitch of a grandpa teddy in an armchair reading a book, Also reading the latest Janet Evanovich novel 'Smokin' Seventeen'. Have read the whole series and they are so funny. Can definitely recommend them. grizzly4 - 2011-11-23 07:00:00 |
| believe it or not, knitting Santa still, lol, took my car back to the garage this morning so theycould fix what they fixed last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. suzy59nz - 2011-11-23 11:48:00 |
| I hope your car is ok now, suzy. Had to come home early yesterday as I wasn't well at all but seems to have passed overnight, thank goodness. I am so busy getting funding applications done for next year as well as trying to keep on top of the everyday stuff, I can't really afford to take time off. I actually brought work home for today incase I wasn't well enough to go to the office. That time of the year I guess. grizzly4 - 2011-11-24 07:04:00 |
| car going well now, no more knocking and banging. suzy59nz - 2011-11-24 21:21:00 |
| Fancy doing the hair before the body! I can't wait to see him. MUst start organising all my other decorations ready for putting up next weekend. I can just hear I. groan with me even thinking about it. I hope he puts some lights up this year, he used to do a great display outside for people passing by. My son used to say he was too embarrassed to visit. heehee. grizzly4 - 2011-11-25 06:08:00 |
| Hi there, well my SIL cut the phone cord whilst the renovations are being done so no internet or phone. Up at the beach today so online. I am still doing my Taniko headband. Have to really concentrate on that. Knitting summer tops as well. Have two mosaic items to grout this weekend. Can only do that when the kids are not around as M loves to get her hands into everything. Am doing Watergardens in pots for my daughter and a neighbour. This weekend I want to knit up a Christmas stocking for little J. Next week I am cooking my Christmas cakes as SIL is off again on Monday. i did some chrissy shopping last night so getting somewhere there. It is darn cold here so it is jeans weather today. makerealbany - 2011-11-25 08:56:00 |
| lovely warm and sunny here in Chch today, just taken my little dog for a walk down the river bank. suzy59nz - 2011-11-25 14:11:00 |
