Good morning ladies. Haven't been on the thread since Friday and its all your fault!!!!! lol The Twilight Express trip to Northern Ireland has had me on the computer almost nonstop since. You see after all these years of not finding much info on family etc, now found a fabulous site on Belfast. Gotten photos of places I used to visit, people that shared my interests when young. Boy I've had a ball, gotten enthused enough to put together a historical scrapbook for the Grandkids. Love the shortened names, I don't mind being Beryl or bhs just don't call me too early in the morning. Must dash appointment in 15 minutes. bhs47 - 2010-01-18 10:12:00

Sorry Liz, meant to comment you being the baby of the group (I think). I didn't start quilting until two years ago so think what you will achieve by the time you are my age. How did you jam turn out, did it set OK as you didn't cook the fruit properly first, should be OK as apricot is usually trouble free jam. Might make some myself, Foodtown have them for $4.95 kg this week. franny8 - 2010-01-18 13:05:00
yes fran im the same no more fabric, that would be great to see your quilts. twilight23 - 2010-01-18 13:09:00

heres quilt, other pics i am going to put on the back of the quilt. Have some little sewing embelishments in silver that i will sew on the white. i can see some squares that need moving around abit. I havent decided which fabric for the binding thats why i have 2 sitting there http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/54/117245454_full.jp oh realised its not a good idea to put it on coffee table unless you have a pair of stilts lol i couldnt get high enough for pic hehe Edited by coalrange1 at 3:47 pm, Mon 18 Jan coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 15:39:00
That looks good Coalie, I really like the blend of colours which look really good together. But what happened to those other lovely panels you had? Aren't you going to use them now? Are they the same size as what 4 of the smaller squares are would make? If so why not put one in each corner. franny8 - 2010-01-18 16:10:00
Sorry, just had another look, I wouldn't make the outside white border that wide, the same size as the square blocks are I think would look better and the darker fabric with the cottonreels on looks better on the border than the light one - now you are sorry you asked aren't you. franny8 - 2010-01-18 16:14:00
sorry coalie i would agree with fran, take the white away, and use another colour, and put one small pic in each corner twilight23 - 2010-01-18 16:30:00
Franny no i am not sorry i asked hehe lol. I very much appreciate your help. Thankyou :) coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 16:31:00

My lovely husband has just been up and got me some batteries for the camera as I kept forgetting to get some. Got some rechareable so no excuse now. http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/38/117251738_full.jp http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/51/117251851_full.jp franny8 - 2010-01-18 16:33:00
Awww Franny they are gorgeous wow lots of ooohs and ahhha here, so perfect gosh :) coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 17:14:00
http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/0/117256900_full.jpg is this better ? Twilight i cant loose the white border part, it breaks the space between squares and binding, have made it smaller like Franny told me ( she also told me that yesterday and finally i have listened ooops ) coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 17:36:00
sorry me again do you think the white around the center pic should be narrower ? coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 17:44:00
yes thats great, yes make the border around the picture narrower too twilight23 - 2010-01-18 18:04:00
Yes looks really good now Coalie, really like those panels in the corners. I think you've got it but yes I do think the white centre sashing does need to be narrower, only problem is if you do this it is going to throw out the other square blocks fitting around the sides. Let me have a little think about, husband shouting dinner is ready so will have a think and come back after dinner but don't move anything in the meantime. franny8 - 2010-01-18 18:06:00
mmmmmmm Edited by twilight23 at 6:28 pm, Mon 18 Jan twilight23 - 2010-01-18 18:27:00
wat about make the white smaller then add a narrow sashing around that then it will fit in,or twilight23 - 2010-01-18 18:34:00
That is exactly what I was going to say Twilight. I would make it white 1/3 white and 2/3 the cotton reel fabric, that would tie it in better as you have a narrower white and a wider cotton reel on the outside. Sorry Twi I wouldn't use the fawn as I think it might pull the whole thing down, if you know what I mean, and I think the white just gives it a lift. Or if it looks too busy with the cotton reels next to the outer squares you could divide it into 3 - white, cotton reel, white. franny8 - 2010-01-18 18:50:00
Wow you 2 are brilliant yes that sounds great will do that and show you ( hehe yup yet another pic ;) coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 18:59:00

She could have been thinking about my dinner cause it was yummy, l am truly spoilt having a husband who loves to cook. He made homemade shortbread last week Tuesday which is my day out, I go to quilt group in the morning and play Mah Jong in the afternoon and as I type he is pouring over a cookbook so don't know what he will make tomorrow. franny8 - 2010-01-18 19:05:00

franny8 wrote: yeah it's come out ok, i'm not raving over it as it's not a thick as i normally like it, but it still tastes great. I know where i went wrong too, i added too much water because i put the sugar in with the fruit. Usually only add 1/2c to stop the fruit sticking while i cook it down to mush. Got 14.5 jars from our 4.5kg apricots (3.8kg of fruit went in the pot... not bad for stone fruit). Have plum jam coming up in a month or 2. I find it easier as i dont bother stoning the plums first and only use 1/2 sugar to fruit as i like it tart!! Dropped 2 jars across to my lovely neighbour along with her big stockpot i had to borrow... Edited by liz_taylor at 8:16 pm, Mon 18 Jan liz_taylor - 2010-01-18 20:15:00
ok here it is, it looks wonky cause nothings pinned yet ;) http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/89/117287089_full.jp i think it looks great, thanks very much to you both, i think the white around the outside border could be a little narrower, but that'll all happen when its pinned. coalrange1 - 2010-01-18 20:45:00
We saw you! we saw you didn't Twi and errr no wandering back in Coalrange, not until you have come to post a pic. franny8 - 2010-01-18 20:48:00
