I have found all these old coins and wonder if they have any value at all.
NZ 6 pence, 1936, 1945, 1947
NZ 3 pence 1933
NZ 1 penny 1940, 1947
NZ halfpenny 1942, 1946
NZ halfcrown 1948
1876 dutch coin silver about size of 5c coin with a big 5 on it.
1891 silver coin 10c piece size Queen Vic on one side with 4 what appear to be coat of arms and a crown on the other side.
Not much detail sorry would take ages to type all that and I will take them to a dealer if anyone thinks they are worth something.
I have more foreign coins late 1800's early 1900's, including lots with what appears to be Japanese or similar writing but cant read Japanese.
Thanks for any help. Appreciated.

I also have copper one slightly bigger than 10c coin 1865 NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR on one side and an eagle with an A underneath it.

I'll just offer guidance on the French coin, since I have more knowledge about that than the others. Unless in really decent condition, it probably has a book value between a few dollars and maybe $15.

Any chance of posting photos of that and some of the others? Condition is very important.

Intrigued by the Dutch silver coin about the size of our 5c - their 5c coins were tiny at the time so it doesn't quite sound right. Some pictures would be good if possible.

Most of them probably aren't worth heaps, as you suspect, unfortunately - you could try listing them either in ones or in groups on TM, otherwise check your yellow pages for local dealers and see how you go.

Nothing that stands out too much. If you were to $1 reserve it as a lot with a few more photos you could expect ~$150. A dealer would have to offer less.

I notice the JB catalogue lists it with a farthing insert rather than a Lincoln cent - a new type?

It's the product number rather than the item number. It doesn't seem to be possible to search by "P" number, unfortunately.

I didn't realise missing "nothing" could be so important. Yes there's a "0" at the end of the number. Then again I just got offered a NZ 1974 copper-nickel Commonwealth Dollar for $50; a case of a "nought" too many.

My estimate based on the photo was in the same range as numismatist suggested above - so $250 mightn't be too bad for the lot, depending on how much extra there is.

2: Taiwan. Year 61 of the republic = 1972. That should set you in the right direction :-)

Does anyone know if there has been any list of 10 cent errors in the past apart from the ones listed in the November 1985 (64) numismatic journal?

There's another article by Kerry Rodgers in NZNJ 59 (June 1980) on 10c cuds (complete with typo on the Contents page - should be Stye-eyed koruru, not style-eyed ...!)

Thanks for that :-) i have found about 14 coins with Style-eyed Koruru cuds now but still have over 7,000 10 cent coins to sort by year before I can really check them properly. I was just interested to see if there was any other errors as apart form those it seems just the 1988 cuds in date then the 2004 double rim are the ones i can find information on

I see TradeMe "pulled" half-a-dozen commemorative medal auctions this evening, I think all from acw-nz. Anyone know what was amiss? They were repeat listings and I don't recall seeing anything odd about them.

Not sure but there do seem to be quite a lot in NZ in high grade - brought over by US troops and kept as souvenirs, perhaps?

Depends where the bag was stored and how humid the air was :-) Remember the golden toning reported on lots of 1990 20c pieces that were finally released into circulation after being left bagged for 10-12 years or so?

way off lol each bag contains 1k when you get $1coins from a bank and the same for these bags from the mint. The mint bag's come with a lable stuck on them with weight, date, time, machine, operator andconsec bag number. I had never thought about it before but all the coins in a bag come from the one machine and dies all the coins in these bags showed a small scratch under the queens chin. Sadly for me that was annoying as I was hoping to find error coins so I got a little lazy searching and just kept a few metal flaw coins aside

Just to add to what i said before $1 coins come in bags of 1000 from the mint and i am told $2 are the same. They then get purchased from the reserve bank normally by the crate full (for $1 this is 100,000 coins) and then get rolled by these companies to distribute to the banks this saves banks recounting bags of coins

10,20 & 50 cent coins all come from the mint rolled in reserve bank of new zealand paper. The 50 cent coins then get put into a box of $500 at the Canadian mint sealed for easy handling. I still have yet to see how the 10 & 20 cent coins are packaged
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/321802243.jpg

There is an auction on TM at the moment that says not a lot of our previous decimal coins were saved in rolls and this was probably because they were not provided to the banks in this way. However now that they are I would be surprised if more of our current coin rolls are not saved for future collectors

Spike was the closest i purchased 15k from a security company (plus fees) as i wanted to do this to the builder as he is a mate that always gives me a hard time for collecting coins (the look on his face was priceless lol) The added bonus was when i ordered them i asked if they had mint coins and they did. Downsides were the fees and it was a one off deal from that company also the fact it took my mate 6 weeks longer to complete the job so i had them sitting at home (secured) but finally they are back in circulation and the builder has his money. But now i think every bank hates me haha

The 10c and 20c come in similar boxes as the 50c. I have examples at home.
I also have old rolls of predecimal coin. From memory I have a 1d roll and a half penny roll. Both rolled in plain brown paper. Both dated 1964 with 60 coins in a roll.
