I figure if people can look at this thread and read it, that we all have 'sad' lives, then there is something wrong with THEM, not us, lol. All I see is a group of people interested in sharing their every day highs and lows. If you dont want to read it, you dont have to.

I agree with you,hun sending you heaps of Angel hugs and too all that need them.

Morning ... waves to everyone,
who kicked the house at 5.27am? I prefer to be woken up by my alarm clock thanks!!!
Hope you've all had a good sleep & are feeling brighter today.
Still wet here - calista, take it easy on your bike - you know what makes the roads quite slippery.
Time for a shower then the last section of my assignment to do before class this morning. Happy days xx

Well have to bring some warm clothes with me,staying in a motel so will be nice and warm.

i would think Charlie that they would look at admire those that have been through tough times and still find a way to laugh, share and care about others !!!

unfortunately motorbo there are some on here that are not like minded at all more like small minded and mean the trick is to ignore them as they are not very pleasant people at all. lifes too short to let negative people like that affect you.

Cyber hugs of comfort for our Chch residents, Charlie it must be really difficult to get back to sleep heres hoping you can get some sleep.

I've given up on sleep for the night ... sitting drinking tea downstairs now ... and wishing I had some company. Honey is a little trembling bag of nerves & although happy to see me, isn't helping me feel better.

Our turn last night. Prebbleton has been very lucky but last night was something else. The biggest one threw stuff everywhere, including a 10 lire of water that split on the carpet and we've been having smaller ones centred within a couple of kms all night. Feel like putting aching head back under the covers and flagging today but that's not going to dry the carpet or clean up the mess. Hope everyone is OK.

No real damage thanks Rae, although I haven't checked outside, just a bit of a mess, but like you sleep not possible. In the grand scale of earthquake damage it's trivial Charlieb2. Just the earthquake god letting us know that we weren't in the middle of a charmed zone after all.

I got up at 3.30am & made a cuppa. Then baked muffins lol! Seems a crazy thing to do ... haven't done any baking in ages. Good distraction I guess.
Hope you & yours are ok charlieb ... or is it panda now? ;)
Hope the rest of our cantab family are ok too ...

Hard to believe that after all this time ChCh is still getting big shakes. Thank-you for posting about it as you are my "reporters" and it really helps me understand the traumas you are going through. Charlie, you haven't mentioned your knee-how is it? Winnie, can well understand you cooking in the middle of the night and if you devoured all the muffins that is also very understandible. Sounds to have been a horrible night, especially if you are on your own.

I usually bake when stressed but apparently not when stressed by earthquakes. But I have been knitting a lot for the first time in years - very fast and with a very tight tension. At least its not something big to start with enthusiasm then run out of steam on like the chair which has only progressed to one covered arm. Still, better than the friend who made lots of jams and pickles for the first time in quite a while and only had time to skite about being a domestic goddess for a few minutes before they were all flung out of the pantry.

Thanks for asking mary........ Horrible grey day here.... been out this morning and people are looking a little jaded.

Yuck to the preserves clean up.

Safe travel earthangel..... bet you are counting the minutes till you see your little lovelies...

I didn't eat all the muffins!
Only one actually ... think it was about the activity, not about the food. Just wanted to feel like I was in control of something ...
Went around the house & picked up alot of stuff earlier - well stood it upright & left it on the floor. Lost another group of pictures off the office wall ... there'll be none left by the time the owners get back!
Hope you got your carpet mopped up greerg.

I popped a sleeping pill after the 5.whatever last night as I was determined to get some sleep and never felt a thing the rest of the night. The clock fell in the sink and the little wooden rainbow fell apart - as usual, but nothing else was affected.

I am seriously thinking of a week away. It's not so much the shakes it's the river which is an open sewer and with the damp days the smell just hangs around.

Good luck with the announcement tomorrow Charlie.

All the best for tomorrow - text me your news please & xxx!
And calista - definitely take yourself away somewhere nice for some R n R :)
I would if I could! Can't because of my classes but also because my car now needs a new water pump .... can't leave town till I have one and won't be able to afford to once I do!

Theres London and then theres London... depends on which parts you go.
I was brought up in Herne Hill, Dulwich..(SE5) not bad....
We stayed last visit in Thames Ditton.... just beautiful..... When we were there years ago on our OE.... we stayed in Tooting Bec & Harringay... just no comparision lol If I moved back to the UK I would be heading for Cornwall... spectacular.

*Fingers Crossed* for some resolution Charlie... whatever it may be, all the things that brought you to that area have changed, so allow yourself a "Mind Change" if thats what required to move forward. What about living semi rural? didn't you have a bestie that moved out of town? Although I think I would rent somewhere with the money in the bank till the dust settles so to speak.

Good luck with all the car problems... I had the opposite happen to me just recently... got a letter from Toyota... please let us replace your axle for free ($1800 worth of work)... seems we have been part of a worldwide recall... and the 4x4 is well over 10 years old. So had that done a couple of weeks ago....

But your right expensives always seem to come in bundles... My washing machine has an intermittent fault.. so we are just limping along untill I have a fault that I can ring a service man for.... It stopped every wash for about 5.... just about to ring the service man and it must have felt threatened and is ok again. How much is a water pump Winnie?

I am not going to contribute to the "Sad" thread.... I view this like chatting over the garden fence with neighbours. And being there for people I have gotton to know, some in the flesh and some just on line. I feel sorry for the people that think that is sad, they seem to know alot about nutrition but little about life skills... You get out of life what you put into it.... & I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of some peoples Karma. Being mean spirited luckily is just not my style...and I am not going to change that by interacting with them and responding.

Anyhoo off to do the GST... lucky me.....

Have a great day people... Take Care and Stay well....

Can I please just cancel today???
On top of my car worries (toady, several hundred dollers apparently) I have woken up with a swollen face & jaw ... I need a dentist :(
Problem is - I'm dental phobic. I've got tears in my eyes & a queasy stomach just thinking about it. GAH!!!!
I'll have to ring WINZ this morning as I have no means to pay for treatment.
Not a happy camper here ...
