Its true aye 'you can never have too much fabric'

#Post
4001

Ok weve got to 4000, thought it may be good to put this poem on again, kindly found for us on page one by Marlin9. Its what this thread is all about :)

I have a little problem it's called a fabric stash,
My husband doesn't know it, but it cost a lot of cash,
It started out as remnant pieces I brought from a shop, But then became addictive and I really could not stop.
Fat eights became fat quarters, two metres became three; And when I purchased a whole bolt, I thought psychiatry. I couldn't pass a patchwork place I had to go and see; if there were any matching pieces inside the shop for me. So hubby starts to realize one cupboard becomes two; He'll ban me from the fabric stores to keep our marriage true. So I sit at my computer while I'm banished to the house; But he'll have to hide the Visa 'cause I can click the mouse.
There isn't any moral to this tale of fabric woe; Children grow and leave you and husbands come and go. Enjoy your fabric frenzy, it isn't any sin;
REMEMBER the old saying "She who dies with the most fabric....WINS!"

i think she who *BUYS* the most fabric is the winner :)

Quilting today, as soon as I have finished the ironing. Oh to have a slave to do all the boring domestic chores. Still musn't complain husband does most of the cooking, he pours over the cookbooks saying what do you think of this and I say lovely whatever it is.
You all have a lovely day I will not be checking in because I will be finished the quilting.

Hi coalrange, yep I've been busy with the scrapbooking cause guess what I got the software downloaded and I'm having fun.
The photos of the roses are my own and I turned the corner of the sofa into a studio quite by accident than default. The roses came from the neighbour's garden.

Yaaaay quilting finished, now just have to measure the quilt and cut the binding. And I have been a good quilter and cleaned and oiled my machine, am always appalled at the amount of fluff which accumulates around the bobbin area, think it comes off the batting. I am using bamboo batting, has anyone used it? It is lovely, soooo soft and snuggly and lovely to quilt.

You are clever Bhs, loved the Lillies. I am not into scrapbooking myself but a friend of mine made the most amazing album, of the family history, for her granddaughter when she turned 21.

Thanks for comments on layouts I am very happy with them. Sadly coalrange I no longer have the beautiful gardens with the lilies and the roses and all the most usual flowers. Health reasons we had to downsized from 1/4 acre to hankies size. Managed to bring a few of my bulbs with me but so far all I have gotten is lots of the orange one and one very lonely yellow.

question time lol how do you guys manage to post more than one photo to a message without going through edit? Have you had a twilight express to Northern Ireland yet?

bhs47 - 2010-01-15 19:07:00
4023

bhs - i put one photo on then go to my trade me get another one click on back until i get to the message im writing and copy again and keep repeating. so you just keep going backwards and forwards. Hope that makes sense and if anyone knows another way please let us know :)

N Ireland sounds good to me too, I'll show you where I was born. First I will make sure I have all the photos lined up so that I can keep up. Anyone like a good malt whiskey?

bhs47 - 2010-01-15 20:54:00
4032

Yes bhs im still awake, im still handstitching, nearly finished ;)
a good malt whiskey hmmm yeah why not sounds good just a little one tho, otherwise my stitching may go wonky. Then when i show people the quilt and they say oooh stitching went off a bit there - i would have to confess what had happened lol so just small one thankyou :) Phew that was long winded a simple yes would of done aye hehe

coalrange1 - 2010-01-15 21:08:00
4033

Have you got your breath back yet after that lot???? You nearly had me replying in an Irish way but thought better off it, as it doesn't read as good as when it is spoken.
Remember one stitch after the other then a wee dram, one stitch after the other & a wee dram ok that should get you through the rest of your hand stitching.

bhs47 - 2010-01-15 21:26:00
4034

Oooh can I come, haven't been to Northern Island since 1967, wasn't too healthy in Belfast then, lots of English soldiers carrying guns, so was just a flying visit on the way south. Do you think we will have time to visit Dublin Twilight, oh brings back memories of my youth when I was on my big OE and we did the tour of the Guiness factory and got lots of free Guiness at the end of the tour - only problem was I don't really like Guiness.
Can we expect a pic of your finished quilt pretty soon then Coalrange? You are further ahead than me I haven't cut the binding yet. I am certainly up for a good malt Bhs, lovely.
Night, night all sleep tight.

franny8 - 2010-01-15 23:09:00
4041

Top of the mornin ladies, doesn't look too good here. Windy and over cast. Well my wee dram worked well last night I had a good sleep.
franny what a coindence you visiting N Ireland in 1967. I left my homeland in April 1967 (just before the fighting restarted) and spent five and half weeks on a ship taking me to my new home, the Land of the Long White Cloud. Have been back once, 1998.

The bamboo batting feel a bit like the cotton but personally I prefer it and what I really like is that it is machine washable although you can't put it in the dryer. You can get either 100% bamboo or a 50/50 cotton bamboo mix, they are both lovely but the 100% one is just a tiny bit thicker, not much.
Hi Bhs, yes that is a coincidence, yes we were there during the quiet spot but there were still lots soldiers with guns and Belfast, then, seemed such a gloomy place, there didn't seem to be many people about and I do remember that, probably because of the way things were back then. Is that why you left, because of the troubles.
Forgot to say "Morning all".

twilight have a great day at the wedding.
franny, I often joke that I kindled the fighting and then left them too, but that isn't the case. I married an Kiwi guy from the NZ Royal Navy who I met at my home in Belfast. So I came out here as a very young bride. In 1998 when I went home I found that parts of the city was still gloomy though they did try to brighten it up in places. What I did enjoy was going through the Glen of Antrim with my Big Brother and seeing my homeland through the eyes of an adult. Look forward to seeing you on the Twilight Express trip.
