Good Morning...I finished my heavy project last night but need to put buttond on it before I take photo's.
*Kuaka* my Dad used to make owls from pine cones...next time I take photo's I will post one up of Mr. Owl. Dad also did bone carving and I have several pieces. He only made them for family and never Maori symbols but they are all very special too us.
I am going out later for afternoon tea at 'The Olive Grove' where there will be oil tasting and also a mosaic demonstration. It is a Mud and Clay Homestead.
The crickets are chirping away. I went out this morning and picked 10 figs from our fig tree. It is loaded but the birds and I will be competing each morning. Not sure whether I should eat more than one a day as they were on my banned list because of seeds. :)

Yum figs... I picked a liquorice bucketful of blackberries this morning. Bobcat "helped" me. So I have plasters on my foot where he thought he needed to hold my foot steady like. Little ratbag lol
Went up the road and came home and my battery went flat so Ive had an hours rest/sleep. Feeling better now. Thankfully it doesn't happen too often these days.
No sewing or anything as yet lol

Hi everyone :)

Just thought I would pop in and say hello.

I finished off my 5th beanie. Knitted another one and I am half way through a poncho in the same colour as the last beanie.

I went into spotlight today. I am determined that I am going to learn how to sew. I have some sweatshirt material and I was going to get a pattern but it all looked pretty complicated so I got some more wool instead.

I am not a sewer by any means but I did used to manage to make my kids sweat shirts and track pants years ago... I would much rather knit anyway :)

eta....lol perhaps that should be seamtstress rather than sewer.

morning ladies :) I sew rabrad, I learned at school and watched my other grandmother sew wedding dresses, bit and pieces for the church etc. Learned a bit watching her!

Not sure what the day will bring but I suspect there will be a trip to Tauranga, MrK wants to stay with his sister for a few days to support her.

Weeding, washing to be hung out and vacuuming and maybe some stitching or knitting later. Will see how the day pans out.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
I learnt to sew young. By the time I was 11 I took over mums piece work job she got after Dad died. Have made my clothes since young, but now its cheaper to buy them really. I enjoy sewing but don't do enough of it these days. Knitting gets in the way lol.

We have been out in the country to a school garage sale. Got a nice looks like new dvd rack. So Ill be able to take my movies out of the drawer of the tv cabinet and then spread the cds out so we can see what is there. And some cookbooks and a wooden Pinocchio . MrP loves Pinocchio has done since he went dressed as him at a school thing when young. This one is old but nicely made.
I sewed the cardy up last night. Its pretty. Will do the bands today.

Have a good day everyone. Stay safe on the roads.

Morning everyone.

I couldn't find one of my 4mm last night Sue so maybe it ran away with yours. Mines home now tho I just checked.

Glad the cat has made everyone happy. She sounds like shes going to have a good life.

Amazing what we can get done when the blokes are away eh Kiwimade. Ive told MrP he is helping me in the shed today, he started to say Ohh yeah getting... and I butt in and said getting rid of all the cardboard down there, nothing else. Wasn't going to have a tantrum from him today.

He can sit with a Stanley knife and cut the big stuff down to fit in the recycle bin, stuff from the pantries and freezer.
While I move some stuff around to get to the bin that has the other Pinocchio in.
Finished Addys cardy last night. Ill put a pick up via edit since I haven't put it in the comp yet lol.
Have started just another one that's done in pink white and green, a free pattern from Deramores.

Have a good day all

morning ladies :) MrK comes home today from Tauranga so I better get 'those' things done I don't need his help with but he thinks I do need help lol (if that makes sense!).

Trying to chase up a trade, they don't often go pear shaped but this one seems to have.

Will get some knitting or stitching done today provided the Furry One will leave me alone. Since MrK has been away he has stuck with me like glue and has to be touching me when I sit down. He's sitting on my lap as I type!

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade, if the trade about to go wrong is something you posted using nz post which hasn't arrived, you have to put in a claim for compensation no later than 14 days from when you posted it otherwise they won't consider compensation, so good luck.

I plan to finish staining the deck this morning but I might try to prepare the little patch of ground beside the beans ready for more beans. I couldn't do it before as I didn't have the fertilisers. I might mow the little lawn too. See how I go.

I've done the first side of the owl hot water bottle cover. Hope to get the second side started today, maybe even finished. We'll see how I go.

My cat jumped onto the laptop the other night while I was using it, landed on the keyboard and wouldn't move, and when I finally got her off it and clicked on the little thing which had popped up, it said "you are about to close 156 tabs - are you sure you want to do this?"

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning everyone
Rain, we have rain lol..
Loving the cooler nights but woke up in a sweat about 4am when it started raining.
Yes I know what you mean Kiwimade re getting work done that our men think we shouldn't be doing, while they are not here.
MrP had a big sleep yesterday afternoon so I managed heaps of knitting. Id only cast on late Saturday but I did the back and both fronts yesterday. And very quick knit. But I think stripes always seem to go faster. And its only stocking stitch so not complicated.

Must ring and make an appointment for the WOF too.. Hate warrant time.

Was thinking this morning Ive done a heck of a lot of knitting this year. Will make a list later. I keep a diary of my knitting, just to show myself Im not wasting time sitting watching tv lol

Have a good day all..

no, I've had absolutely no contact from the buyer. The auction went nuts towards the end and I suspect he may be regretting the sale. I'll e mail again for the third time this morning (I'll probably come across as a pushy seller lol) and if need be, relist it and ask TM for my fees back.

lmaooo @ the cat, we had one that insisted on sitting right where you were reading and loved the key board. I was on Skype once to a friend and she hopped onto the key board, turned her bum to the camera and flicked her tail... I swear she was flipping my friend the bird! We both just about died laughing.

We had RAIN!! All of 10 minutes of drizzle but I suppose it counts as the wet stuff :)

happy knitting :)

morning
Another lovely day here but the garden would love a bit of rain I'm sure.

Just a few rows of knitting yesterday as we went to splash planet with Niece's family so busy taking the 4 year old on the bumper boats, jeeps, slides etc etc the kids had a ball. It's a good time of year to go as not only did they get cheap tickets off grabone there are not too many people there so the queues for rides were quite short. Not sure why but I really enjoy water slides and said that I will still be doing them at 70 if I can! lol.

Taking it easier today with just a bit of gardening planned and babysitting a friends kids for a couple of hours this evening so will get the little lacy top I'm doing finished then have to decide what to do next have quite a few things in mind.

I am sorting out the patterns that I have got off line and putting them onto my new ipad so not have to print them off and it seems to be working really well.

I'm like you Popeye and keep track of all the crafty things I make but take a photo and notes of them so I remember colour, sizes etc and where they go to. It's quite surprising how all the knitting adds up over the year.

Washing nearly finished so better get off this and look a bit industrious for a while.

Have had a productive morning...
I put that down to it being cooler and I feel soo much better.

Have fold and put away 3 loads of washing. done dishes. Lamb shanks in crockpot, beans cut. Hung a picture in my bedroom, then waited to be told off for doing it, since I got up on a chair. Like Id let him do that lol.
Have started a sleeve.

My list of knitting and crochet for this year alone is

The frill and making up my cardy
Short sleeved white cardy, toddler
Red Peggy square blanket
Green Peggy square blanket
Four tunics
Dress and matching hat
2 Fairy dolls
Superhero
Top down Matinee
White and pink cardy.
1pair booties Not a bad amount for 10 weeks.

I make notes too Jaymetoo. With the knitting instructions then I staple them on the patterns for future reference.

Sleeves on the cardy for today and set in so they wont take long

wow popeye, that's quite a list! I haven't done a lot of knitting as I've been working on my unfinished cross stitch. I am determined to finish my unfinished pieces (not that I have that many) and use my wool stash. My blanket is coming along - run out of navy yarn again lol - and it's looking great so far. I should take an updated pic to post.

morning ladies :) ooooppsss lol, poor puss. At least she was still inside and not locked outside.

MrK is home, he raided his sister's garden so I have plants to plant and lots of his washing. The Furry One is very pleased to have him home.

Autum has kicked in, it's freezing here this morning but looks like it's going to be a lovely day.

Will get some knitting or stitching done later today, for now, the Furry One wants to play, I'm having my ankle bashed with the tug rope. I can take a hint...

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-03-04 07:47:00

I had quite a productive day yesterday, I not only mowed one of the lawns, I also did the edges, and I used an old knife to cut away the excess grass around the 12 paving slabs on it, where the grass had crept onto the slabs making them seem smaller. I also started the tidy up of the downstairs junk room and chucked some of the junk onto the rubbish pile - which I will pay someone to remove as we have no trailer. Then I just started to do the last of the staining on the deck when a friend arrived with carrot cake so I put the lid back on the tin and sat and had a cuppa and a chat, and by the time she'd gone and we had lunch it was too late to stain (not long after we had a shower) so I did some more tidying in the junk room - won't be long till it's all sorted.

But this afternoon I'm going out - normally on a Tuesday afternoon I play mah jong, but I haven't been this year (firstly because we were too busy getting ready to go away and then secondly because of Mr K's batman trip). I'm not going for the whole afternoon, I'll just go for the first session but will come home when they stop for afternoon tea. Going for the whole afternoon might be a bit too long to leave Mr K on his own - he just might do something stupid out of frustration because I'm not there to do it for him. (Maybe not too but I'd rather not take the risk). Looking forward to it and it will be good to get out of the house for a while.

I want to try and finish the staining this morning and after that I can concentrate on the weeds and the tidying up - and the knitting of course.

Have a great day.

Morning everyone.
Also glad the cat was shut in rather than out.

Would be nice to see the two blankets as they are coming along.

Nice here had a short sharp shower a few mins ago, Bobcat come tearing inside like it was hurting him lol. He hates rain lol.

MrP is still in bed. Told him this morning he had to stop acting like an invalid. Didn't go down well but while he is there he will think about it.

The little cardy is coming along. One front band to pick up and do. Then sew in the sleeves and do side seams. Then there is a wee belt for the back and a flower for the front to do.

Have to take the car for a warrant, I hate warrant time.

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2014-03-04 08:25:00

Yay car passed... phew. And the same loaner car as last time, but it actually had petrol in it this time lol

have had a shocking time picking up stitches on this cardie's bands. But got there in the end. With less than the required amount, 2 on each row, cos I simply couldn't fit any more in.
now have to knit the flower and the belt. And then Im finished. Looks smaller than the white and pink so Im pleased about that.

Med centre called, flu shot time again so we went and met other "B" people that we know getting theirs as well lol.. Nice being at the start of the alphabet. I have ultra sensitive upper arms, but the shot was cope-able. Its a bit tender now tho lol

Hope everyone has had a good day

morning all. well both new pussy's have runny poos this morning guess I over feed them or they are not used to good food, 2 and a bit sides to go on blanket, I was very tired yesterday so did not do much. washings on and hospital was great now I have nicely trimmed toe nails but nurse thinks sugars too high,

morning :) Poor pusses! Hopefully it is just the change in diet and they will be fine.

Almost down to the bottom corner of the border with my stitching, I'm over the border lol (still have lots of it to go :S ). I'm picking away at a wee cardy for our grandy, usually I would have it finished by now but just can't seem to feel inspired. Will have another go at it today.

Yup will be the good food upsetting the cats systems... Hard not to be kind tho eh.
Its been a long job on that cross stitch border eh Kiwimade, but soo worth it when your finished.

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/307199820.jpg

Addys latest cardy. its meant to have a flower on the front and try as I might I couldn't get it to work. So I didn't put the belt on the back either. Weird pattern for the fact that once you have done the ribbing you decrease for the stocking stitch. so its almost frilly. Ive done her a tunic with matching booties, and two cardies.
I must find a ribbed beanie pattern, I cant find mine. And make a couple to put in with the rest, she's a baldie baby. With just a tuft of fair hair.

Sore back today so I will sit and knit. Started a 9-12 month top down matinee last night.
I just cannot sit without something in my hand lol.. I finished the cardy and went and got the wool for the top down. MrP said cant you have a break, I said Nooo My hands need something in them lol.

Have a good day in what ever you do

good luck with the job hunting kiwimade. I've finally finished the staining on the main deck, still have a little deck out the front to waterblast and stain and I might start that today, but first I have to put all my buttons away. I got them out yesterday searching for two small blue ones for a baby top I've knitted and two mauve ones for the hot water bottle owl cover. You would not believe how many buttons I have, and yet I can't find the colour or size that I need. Unbelieveable. I'm going to sort through them this morning and try and get them into some sort of order, colour-wise. Very frustrating.

Got the cleaner coming this morning so had better move the buttons before he arrives.

Might start the little deck this morning and then take a quick trip to the farmer's market this afternoon, then settle in for some more owl-work.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning everyone.
Id say an allergy too GMS. My eyes are gritty, I wish they would run.

Fingers crossed for you Kiwimade, Maybe the perfect long term job for you just hasn't come vacant yet. There will be a good one for you eventually.

Shopping day today. A very tight budget. But Ill make sure MrP has everything he likes, I can wait till payday lol.. The things us girls do. And he wont even notice Im sure.
Will get this top down finished today, have about a dozen rows to do I think. 159 stitches so a lot more than the new born size lol Im doing it in the white/cream flecked yarn I got from Deramores. Its as soft as that mauve flecky one I got. But the flecks are all different colours.
Will have a choose the buttons picture show on fb when its done, cos it will take any colour. So will get peoples opinions on there... Thinking crazy I could put one of each colour lol.

Have a fab day, its beautiful here

All the best for your job hunting Kiwimade, so frustrating when someone is willing to work and can't get any.

Seems to be quite a few allergy type things around at the moment GMS hope you are over yours very quickly.

Off this am to look after 3 pre schoolers so will have my hands full for a while. Had miss 4 year old here all day yesterday and we had a lovely time dressed in old scarves I was the queen and she was the princess but somehow the princess had all the "birthdays" and the queen had to give the "presents" oh for the imagination of a little one.

Managed to get a bit of knitting fitted in as well.

I sooo know what you mean re buttons Kuaka. I have mine colour sorted, but I can still end up not having the right ones needed.
I did find the wooden box of cream buttons Id been looking for, sorted them into matching ones and bagged them, and the rest are still in the box.
I have a bag of tiny ones that Ill never use. Ill try the swappers otherwise take them to the oppy.

thanks ladies :) just double checking with a referee to make sure it is OK to use her name. I've had my name used as a referee and it turned out to be a disaster. Mind you, I blame the employer as he never talked to me about the person and if he had he would have been told! The employer said he assumed everything would be OK seeing as I was a referee! Stupid man! I found out in a roundabout kind of way my name had been used and I was sooooo angry about it especially as I make a point of asking if it is OK first. Don't know where manners have gone.

A bit of a rant there lol, sorry about that! So damed frustrating wanting to work and not finding any. And even if I was teaching, no guarantees Novapay would pay me anyway... sigh....

I don't blame you Kiwimade. Ive had the same done to me. without being asked.
I understand your frustration, theres soo many who don't want to work, but no jobs for the ones who do... I often think about novapay. We live opposite a school and one of the teachers a few doors down from us had her car repoed before Christmas. I see she has it back and I wonder if it was cos of the novapay mess.

I took the knitting next door and had a big cuddle with Addy. Gosh shes a strong baby she was sitting in my lap, but sitting up straight, not leaning against me. Mums trying her on a bottle, shes going to go back to work for a few hours on a sunday, so dad will have to feed her. She wasn't too impressed with the bottle apparently lol...

How rude Kiwimade for not asking first before putting your name forward. Also employers should actually contact a referee and then listen to what they say. A friend was asked to be a referee for a colleague who she felt was not really suited for the position so she honestly told the employer her views, the colleague got the job anyway but as expected it didn't work out and the employer was annoyed with the referee - she just had not listened to the advice given - thought she knew best.

Sorry your sewing isn't selling carole.

Now for a bit of knitting and TV
