Poor wee darling, I am so sorry he has been sick over night. Words cant express how I feel for you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this dreadful time. I am so pleased M is now ok. Look after yourself, the last thing you need is to get sick your self. Keep in touch, Jo

I am so sorry he is still so sick, I'm thinking of you and your family all the time, praying that J. gets better soon.

I hope today is a better day for you, makerealbany.

Well girls Little J is so much better. The transfusion really helped. The specialist said that he is well on the road to recovery. He also said that little J is was so stressed and the hospital environment does not help him. They still have to test his heart, etc to see if there was any damage but he suggested we bring him home so that he was in a more secure setting. My daughter bought him home and the change in him is amazing. He was crawling and playing with his toys. He is not strong enough to stand yet. He even ate a bit of custard. He has not eaten a thing for 2 weeks. He has to be kept away from other kids for 12 months as he cannot afford to catch anything. He may need more transfusions in the future but time will tell. Such a relief to see him smiling again. He played peepo with his Dad tonight and it bought tears to our eyes. We are all so relieved. My daughter has a rotten virus and looks a wreck but she is so happy. His big sister is also very pleased her Mummy and little brother are home. He still has a lot ahead of him but it is so nice to have him home. Thanks for all your kind thoughts.

What a relief for you all, I have been so worried about him. You must be so relieved. Its been a dreadful time but he will bounce back quickly and it wont be long until he is his old self. Poor A, I hope she gets over her virus. Take care and make sure you all get the rest you deserve.

Thank goodness! I am so pleased for you all, what a relief.
Guess what? home again today as everything closed because of the snow again. I haven't had a full week at work for over a month!

grizzly4 - 2011-08-15 10:59:00
4007

And yet another day at home! I. was called into work at 9.30 but had to dig out the drive first so we could open the gates. Snow was soft enough to drive through then though. It's a shame my new cross stitch threads and aida haven't arrived yet, would be perfect to do today.Getting lots of knitting done though. Any snow your way, ladies? I'll bet poor suzy is still having to go into work as well.

my boss was supposed to be picking me up in his4x4 but rang me and said to stay at home, i was all dressed and waiting. Hope they still pay me. I will take my car tomorrow, at least that way i am sure to get there, as long as no more snow tonight

How is J, makerealbany? Hopefully things are improving still for you all.
And what about your leg, smartgirl?

grizzly4 - 2011-08-17 06:18:00
4010

Yes I hope wee J is feeling better and that you are just too busy to message us. My leg was improving until sunday and it flared up again so it was off to the doctors on monday and she doubled my antibiotics and it seems a bit better again grizzly. Are you going to work today. I hope you are feeling better.

smartgirl - 2011-08-17 07:59:00
4011

No still at home today! But only 'cos the schools are closed, at least the antibiotics seem to have worked. I've started 2 new blankets and a prem matinee set plus bought a sudoku puzzle book when I ventured out to the supermarket for catfood and chocolate. Haha. Don't know why I bothered with the cat food 'cos then I just need more kitty litter! The three of them haven't been out of the house since Sunday. Mac and Jinx are permanently fixed to their shhepskins in fron of the heater but poor old Flurry still won't spend any time out of the bedroom except to quickly eat her meals and go to the loo. I lay a cuddly over her when she's asleep on her sheepskin on our bed. Mind you after a couple of days of no quakes at all, the three we've had to day really jolted our house 'cos they are over Rolleston way. There was another mid afternoon that hasn't been recorded but had things swinging for awhile. Sigh. I hope we hear from Makerealbany soon, I'm starting to worry.

grizzly4 - 2011-08-17 16:44:00

Hope everyone is feeling better and families health improving, this has been a really bad year, i will be glad when its over and we start a new year.

I have a text message from Makereal that she wants me to pass on. Little J is back in starship for another transfusion, and that the wee darling has heart damage. She is going to phone me when she get a chance. I dont know how his mum is at the moment, all we can do is pray for them all.

smartgirl - 2011-08-18 04:53:00
4015

That is so very sad. The family must be so worried for him. You are up very early, smartgirl, did the ttext come through early this morning or is your leg giving you grief?

4016

No it came throught yesterday afternoon but I was not near the computer. I am up early this morning as I was wide awake and thought I may as well be up as lying there thinking about it. How is the snow down there today.

omg poor little thing, His mother must be so worried, poor Makereal, she is a big support to her family. Hope you are taking care of your leg Smartgirl.
The snow has all but gone now, been raining most of today although the sun is trying to shine, just so cold.

Hi girls. Second transfusion has really made a difference. Little J looked a lot better today and the fever has gone again(Hope it darn stays away) He will have another heart scan tomorrow but my daughter is feeling very positive even though she is still really sick herself. We are all coping but my daughter has shown so many hidden strenghs. No wonder little J is a fighter lol. Miss M is sticking to me like glue but told me tonight she had a sick tummy and has to go to the hospital to stay with Mummy and J. Bless her I distracted her with icecream and Malt which she loves. Thanks for all your kind thoughts.

4019

You are having a very difficult time at present, makerealbany. I don't know how your daughter is coping ith all this while not being well herself. Amazing what we do when we have to. Has all this happened during your SIL's time off or has he had to take extra time to be with his family?

grizzly4 - 2011-08-19 06:21:00

How is everyone today. Just busy, I hope. We picked up our new computer last night and, boy, what a difference! It's a smart screen which is going to take some time to get used to but it's so fast compared to what we were putting up with and everything is where it should be instead of creatively arranged where I can't find anything. It's a lovely sunny day thank goodness, I even hung the towels out on the line for the first time in a week! I. had to work this morning so I was just getting out of the shower early this morning for the first shake of the day. Haha. I was given some graffruit, lemons and oranges at work yesterday so downloaded an easy (?) recipe for marmalade. So far I have boiled all the fruit whole for 2 hours and now waiting for it to cool. I then get to choose to either mashing it or putting it in the processor before resuming cooking it with the sugar. A bit different to making jam, I have to say!

Hi everyone! Can you all send me an email 'cos I saved all my documents and pictures but NOT MY ADDRESS BOOK!!!!!!!! Duh.

Hi girls. Little J has continued to improve and we now have him home again. He is so excited to be home. We just have to check his temp every 3 hours. He is used to that now and his mum treats it like a game and he rvrn holds his arm up so she can put the thermometer underneath. He is looking so much better. He needs to be fattened up again but it is such a relief to see him getting better. We have to be really vigilant but we'll just take that in our stride. Needless to say I have not knitted a stitch. I have just finished shortlisting for a Vacancy we got funding for. My SIL is off any day now. He delayed leaving. We have good Whanau support so we will be okay. I can deal with anything after all this. Lol.

Grizzly. I will send you an email.

makerealbany - 2011-08-22 00:00:00

Touch wood when you say that, makerealbany. Down here we have come to realise we tempt fate a little tto much saying we can deal with anything now. But I am very pleased things are better for you.
Hi suzy, Long time no see! I am looking forward to having you back at the women's group eve if it 4 weeks at a time.
By the way, the marmalade is wonderful!!!!! I've stopped having prridge in the morning for the time being so I can enjoy the marmalade on a bit of toast. Nothing like citrus to give you a bit of zing first thing!! Haha.

That is music to my ears makereal, I have been so worried for you. It is so amazing how quickly they bounce back. Years ago when Mr 19 was a baby he had broncolitis and we kept going to the a/hours drs for a couple of weeks. One night the dr said we were all exauhasted and so he would have him admitted. We got up to the hospital with this sick and listless baby and lo and behold we were in the cubical waiting for the doctor to see him when he came alive and was bouncing up and down and entertaining everyone around up. Needless to say we brought him home. It was amazing how much better we all suddenly were too.

THats a great story, smartgirl. We would have been online together if I hadn't been checking a thread I started under the earthquake message board " Shop Site, please".
It's such lovely weather down here this week, hard to believe we were in deep snow this time last week. There are still piles of it by the road in some places though especially on the east side of town, 'cos the ground must be still so wet and cold underneath anyway. We have been getting some wicked 4 magnitude shakes every 12 hours or so which are making it hard to relax. I. had to start work at 4am today and again tomorrow and it's just ludicrous to get up at 3 with him but didn't sleep much after he left all the same. Forced myself to stay in bed till 6.30 but not feeling great, I have to say. Probably won't be any better tomorrow, damn being this worried all the time.

Off for a walk in the Botanical Gardens this morning with the Women's Group at work. Beautiful morning for it! Have a great day, everyone.

Had a wonderful morning but a stressful afternoon in my office afterward unfortunately. Such a shame seeing diggers and repair work going on in the gardens and the bus trip back to work through some of the recently opened streets of the CBD was mind blowing. When you stick to the same areas, same streets etc they become 'normal' despite the damage but suddenly being confronted by catastrophic destruction of some of my favourite historic buildings was mind blowing. Even the POlice Station appears to b e on a lean. Didn't know about that one.

Hi girls. M has a virus again , my daughter cannot get rid of hers and little J has tonsilitis. I am surrounded by coughing sigh.M coughed in her sleep all last night. Little J is bright enough but it is worrying. He appears to be getting a rash again. Taking him to the hospital tomorrow for a check up. Saw some of the demolition scenes on Tv grizzly. Very disheartening and those darn aftershakes are not good either. I am so tired and it is no wonder looking at the time!!!!!!!!!

makerealbany - 2011-08-25 23:55:00
4031

Your poor family is being hit really hard this year, makerealbany! Imagine J. getting something else as well, I hope the hospital can prevent any recurrance of what is been going through up till now!
I agree. Disheartening is a good description of CHristchurchat present. Lots of good things happening I guess but not where I can see or feel them. Does any one know where the $5million that was donated to benefit Christchurch children went to? Or who is administering it?
And when trying to ring dozens of commercial property managers only one out of 4 will answer their phones or return your calls. It's taking hours to find out whether a particular shop is still available let alone suits our purpose! Sorry, ladies, feeling grumpy this morning.

Haha. Suzy, Good question. Such a stressful week it's been. Hopefully J. and your daughter are feeling better by now, makerealbany. We have lost sound on our new computer and I can't get the email adress links on TM auctions to go through so I.'s brother is coming today to help out. (I hope). B# is here for the day and then L4 will join us after lunch. I've woken up with a wicked headache this morning so I hope the pills kick in before they get here! I. has still been starting work at 4 so I am going to bed anxious, sleeping tense (especially the house rocks 15 minutes after getting into bed) so not great company when I do get up. Sigh. Stayed up a bit later last night starting a new x-stitch, too. Hehe.

Morning all well Little J . his mummy and his sister are all still sick. Sigh. My 16 year old granddaughter is here to help for a night. I had a mountain of paperwork to get through for my group. Got half of it done this morning. Will finish it tonight. It is such a beautiful day I have plans to get outside and do some much needed chores.

grizzly technology really bugs me. My SIL tried to connect my new scanner printer, etc and it would not even print. He spent ages. My daughter flew into the cottage the other night and 10 mins later I was all go. Lol. Women power and savy !!!!!!!! She also just dashed in and brought me a cooked lunch because she knows I wont eat until I have this done. What a good girl. Anyway I will eat the Pancakes and go outside.

Pancakes! Yummy - my all time comfort food! ESpecially with lemon juice and sugar. I found 2 cafes that do them berries and cream. One close to home, one close to work. All bases covered. Heehee. My daughter brought cupcakes she made - vanilla with raspberry vodka icing and a chocolate button for decoration. My gosh, they were the best I've ever had!

Had Mc donalds for breakfast this morning as hadto be at the Movie theater at Riccarton for 9.30 this morning as my daughter was in a movie 3 years ago and it has been doing the rounds in the states and won a heap of awards for best short film it was only 20 mins long, called Huhu Attack, i thought it would be crap, but it was really good, so glad i went along to see it. weent for a little wander around but i find the mall to big and spread out to enjoy .The Palms opens a week on Thursday so thats good. Normality returning. Love the sound of those cupcakes.

suzy59nz - 2011-08-27 21:51:00
4039

You are brave for going into Riccarton Mall considering all the warnings we've had about it! I heard yesterday from a contractor working on the Palms site that if it suffers any further damage they will pull it down. No way I'm going back in there.

grizzly4 - 2011-08-28 09:14:00
4040

i think the warning are coming from people's fear, they wouldn't let people in a mall of that size unless it was safe, same with the Palms, they have to have all work cleared before they continue , thats what the delays are about. I didnt spend much time in Westfields, i must admit i did get a scare during the movie though, on screen they had the ground shaking and i had to really think hard and fast as to if it was the cinema or on screen, i was ready to run, made my heart beat fast for a minute .

Good grief! Thats awful about the shaking in the movie. No way, no how for me, I'm afraid.
Had a lovely weekend just too short as usual. Found a wonderful cafe we haven't tried before outside Barrington Mall. I am working on a red & black rugby outfit for a teddy! It's been ordered as a team mascot. A bit different from what I've been doing.

The sun is shining here again. Fantastic. M seems to be improving but cannot go to Preschool of course. Little J is improving as well but their Mummy is a wreck. I have M in the cottage drawing at the moment while Mummy and J catch up on sleep. I am going to cook some scones, find some cream and jam and gourge I need a serious pick me up lol. Have a great day girls.

Makereal, I am so happy for you that the kids are coming right but their mum must be a worry for you still. I hope you enjoyed your scones etc. You really needed them. Heres hoping with the warmer weather on the horizon they will all pick up. They are so lucky to have you so near.

Grizzly and suzy, it must be great that things are improving but I am so impressed that you could go to the movies in a mall. Wow. It is so cool that you have kept your spirits up with all that is going on.

Thanks smartgirl! If it wasn't bad enough having to start another working week yesterday after a lovely weekend but then I start hearing that people are making more predictions regarding another earthquake. So far I have avoided hearing any details but it still just adds to the stress.

grizzly4 - 2011-08-30 08:00:00

Hi smartgirl. Guess who is now fighting the virus?///// I am so annoyed with my lousy immune system. I want a transplant. Lol. Not a very nice day here today. I have had little J for the morning to give my girl a break. He had a bottle whoppee and slept all morning. Yippee. So that was great. I have some houseworky chores to do this afternoon, some references to check and then maybe I can sit and have a break. AH chance would be a fine thing. HA HA.

I ignore predictions grizzly. Load of bollocks. Even the experts get it soooooo wrong. Yep you have enough stress without that rubbish. How are things at work? I have to go down the line on Friday for some interviewing and a complaint(grrrrr). Work Friday and saturday then I will drive home Sat night. I have arranged for my granddaughter to help her Aunty but still feel really bad about going. They have delayed it all twice so I can attend.Ohh I am so popular. Lol.

That work stuff is really bad timing considering everything else going on for you. Shame they couldn't let you out of it this time for goodness sake. They sound really dependant on you, yucky feeling. Such a shame you went back although I know you are doing good stuff.
Yep I have another bug as well so know how you feel, I guess. It seems never ending.
