I have made seven blocks so far and I hope they will look good when finished. Time will tell.
Yummy jam coalie...don't eat it all at once. Ooh...another one in here. Stan is going to be very much in demand.

Long may it last...although I don't really want to chase the lovely summer away. Man it has been so wonderful. Last year it forgot to arrive. Have a great day.

Good morning..... I see you beat me up today collie ....thanks for breakfast.
Sitting up in bed waiting for visitors to stir. They leave today. I have church this morning - would give it a miss but I have to speak so not a good look not to turn up. Visitors have been lovely to have. I had a huge pile of firewood delivered on Friday. It is now all stacked and some really big pieces from last winter have been split so they can be used. It would have taken me a week to stack. Hopefully I will get to sew this afternoon. I managed a block yesterday ... Just three seams and so effective.

L was very upset once again..

shell156 - 2013-02-10 11:41:00
40285

Oh no shell...what a terrible thing for L. Another burials think skippie is the one to advise on quilting wee...do you do free motion? I know how densely you have to quilt depends on the batting used, but I am no expert. You know me though...have to have my say! I would do some show off quilting in the yellow parts and maybe cross hatch the patterned squares? Remember...I hardly know what I'm talking about when it comes to quilting though. If the recipient doesn't want it, I'll have it!
Jenno! Stop putting your foot in it!!

Shell there will be a reason that they aren't surviving, you need to check everything before getting another one. do you have the conditioners and potions and stones and filter in it ? I don't know much about goldfish only baby sat once for a few months and almost killed Mr Fishy through overfeeding, twas only almost tho thankgoodness.

coalrange1 - 2013-02-10 12:48:00
40287

Thanks jumbo, this is only the second time attempting to quilt so too chicken to try free motion quilting just yet.
Sorry to hear about Goldie, shell. We had 2 goldfish that were very hardy, they survived bowl tsunamis and grubby fingers in the bowl. I gave them to a class at Mr 13s school in the end knowing that even worse could happen there lol!

Wee.... If I was quilting your lovely runner, I would go right down the centre in the ditch and then across the width between the orange squares.

barbrose - 2013-02-10 18:37:00
40294

Coalie, the black and white dog is a Tibetan spaniel. He is 16 years old now. Sadly the other one, bichon, died a few years ago. I also have two cats. I g to Eastside Community Church. It's just a small one but I like it. The talk went ok and I have to do a 15 min message next month. That is a bit scarey.
Meanwhile today, I made six blocks for grandson's birthday quilt and tidied some of my stash and found a crumb project I started a year or so ago and then lost. I now have six projects on the go LOL

Thanks Barb. I have tried a couple of variations of stitching in the ditch and am not happy with the look so I might try your suggestion. Missy thinks I should do diagonal rows of stitching through the squares but not sure what to mark the lines with on the fabric. I just want it done and bound now so I can start another table runner!

Wee, diagonal would look good too. You could mark it with the pen which disappears with water

Wee, if you do decide to do diagonal lines, buy some cheap masking tape and use that as your guide. Place the tape so that the right edge is near where you want to sew and away you go. Peal it off and place for the next line. Eventually it gets non sticky. Just discard it and use a new piece.

Finally, after two years of procrastination this ufo is now under way. Remember back when I first said I wanted to do this.

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/253885363.jpg

Well today I started to take the pieces from the design board and started to work on it. So far this is what I have done. All the blue at the bottom is just the backing I'm sewing it on to. The top, though, is to be sky so I'll sew "cloud" shapes on the lighter patches.

I'm sooo excited again
